This is something I should have made a long time ago. You know, back when I still made caves and it'd actually be useful to me. Anyway, I posted the link a little below, and I'd appreciate it if you all'd download it, play around with it, and tell me what you think. I don't want you guys to mention any potential new features just yet, I just want to know if you can find any bugs, or anything that doesn't function in the way that you would perhaps expect it to.

http://www.interguild.org/hatpc/cavemaker.zip (EDIT: You cannot trust this link to be remotely up-to-date.)

Due to a forum bug, you'll probably have to copy that and paste it into your address bar.

To run that, you'll first have to extract that all into the same folder. If you can't extract zip files, download WinRAR: http://www.win-rar.com/download.html

You'll also need to make sure you have the latest version of Java: http://www.java.com

Inside, there's a file named cavemaker.bat, which you will double-click on the run the program. A cmd window will pop up and hang around with you the whole time as you use the cavemaker. Close it, and you close the cavemaker with it, so, just ignore it for now. If it comes up and then just goes away, then you (probably) have not, either, followed these steps properly, or you do not have the latest version of java on your computer. I'm working on a way to make it stand-alone, but for now this will suffice. Also, you can make a short-cut of the .bat file (right-click create shortcut, probably) and then you can paste that into wherever you'd like to be able to open the cavemaker from. Also note that, since this was coded in java, it should be able to run on systems other than Windows. I haven't seen fungus in a while, but if you see him, direct him here so I can get that straightened out. We might have to jump through a few hoops, but it should be able to run on his mac. Update: The cavemaker program is now in a jar file. You should be able to run it by double clicking but, if not, set java as the default program from opening jar files. The .bat is still there if needed.

If you have Windows 7, check out this short topic for help: http://www.interguild.org/members/forums/topic.php?id=5124

I'm going to attempt to list some of the changes that I've made from the Neopets version. Here's what I could think of, in no particular order:

Spoiler: ''List of Changes from the Neopets Version''

So yeah, try it out, and if there's anything that gets on your nerves, let me know I'll try making changes to it. I'll work on adding new features at an unspecified point in the future. For now, I'd like to ensure that this is working properly and there's nothing about it that people just hate to death.

The code to the cavemaker is a complete mess, so I was really hoping nobody would be taking a look at it, lol. I'll fix it up someday... maybe...

I've decided I'm not going to allow direct editing of the code. The only good reasons to do that are all covered by the "add text" options. The other possible reasons would be to write words for somebody using the text, either for HTML, error caves, or the hell of it. None of those is particularily useful for actually making a cave, so why use a cavemaker to do it? I hear notepad works fine for that type of thing.

If you load a cave with lines that are a different length than the first, those lines are ignored when the cave is loaded. Saving the cave will result in a loss of those lines.

It's even worse if you send the class through a decompiler! For startrers, I see a lot of definitions.
And my Dad teaches some of my technical knowledge, but I learned a lot myself... I think I should read the wikipedia article on RAID arrays

I should finish revising those equations now that I know they're wrong...

but csd, you should make your cavemaker identify the arrow-uploader glitch. It'd be really cool if when it spots it, it would make the line tinted red or something. I dunno, just a thought.

Acce, I won't be including such a feature. I'm going to continue assuming a normal uploader, by say, allowing spaces in the title.

New updates remain on hold. My laptop still hasn't come across a new adapter. It'd better hurry up, 'cause I'm starting to get impatient.

Hey Bmwsu! Do you know Purple, Lily, Kitti, Alfav, Aelita and such? Well, they're ME. But that's over. I admitted it (thanks to Dando).

I hope you will make a cave soon.

CSD: Accel's idea seems a cool feature. Why not use it?

EDIT: Not now. I have exams in...1.5 weeks time.

Yeah. Anyways, shall we forget that? It's kinda old now.

Hey, Bmwsu. You should check out this thing I created. Go here:

Code:
http://www.interguild.org/members/forums/topic.php?id=1247

Anyway, back on topic:
CSD, seriously. That feature could be very useful! I mean, like, why deny it? It's a really cool feature!! Why reject it? Hm?

It can be an option, csd. And it won't block you, it'll just tell you that the glitch will come up. That would be really helpful....

In the distant feature, I'll add an "upload warnings" tab to the view-text window. And by distant, I mean so distant that it may never happen. I wonder if you noticed, but the view text window already takes forever to come up. Try a 1x8000 cave and see what I mean. OK, not forever, but maybe like 5 seconds. MORE string parsing will only worsen the problem. The way I'm doing it now is inefficient, though, so I may be able to speed it up to compensate. Anyway, I still need a new adapter before I continue with this. It should be here in 3-4 weeks.

It's there when you right-click. And I think there's also an extract button on the top; roll over them to see what they're called.

ok, somebody ought to make a video or something on how to do this. -_-

there's a file called "CaveMaker.bat". When you double-click it to open it, a black window should come up. then after a while the cavemaker will come up. If it never comes up, it means you don't have the latest version of Java, which you can get here:
