What?

The Air Refill Through Ladders trick refills your air bubbles by using ladders, as the name already implies. You abuse the fact that Hannah's physical hitbox might move a bit into solid objects when you jump on a ladder will pushing into a wall. Terrain generally can't be flooded, so if you jump on a ladder next to terrain, you will refill all your air bubbles.

How?

This trick is quite easy to perform, although a bit luck-based. The only problem is that you can only use this in limited situations. For this trick to work there has to be a ladder directly next to terrain underwater. It doesn't matter how long the ladder is or on what side the wall is. As long as there is a ladder next to at least one piece of terrain, you can do this trick.
First you must be directly under or on the ladder. Next, you hold the arrow key towards the wall and mash the jump button. It might take a few jumps, but eventually all your bubbles will refill again.

When?

As I mentioned before, you can only do this trick underwater with a ladder directly next to terrain. But if you find such a ladder, you can perform do this any time you want.
It is adviced to not do this trick if the ladder is located in a corner. Not that that it is less useful, but in such a place it is generally easier to refill your air bubbles by getting stuck in the corner.

Why?

The use should be pretty obvious. By replenishing your air this way, you can swim for much longer. If the maker of the cave didn't intend this, you can explore the cave more easily without drowning, or even skip an entire section of the cave! There are also some instances where the maker did intend you to use this trick, making the level impossible if you don't replenish your air
You can use this yourself in your own cave for various reasons. You can use this to let the player replenish air if you don't want to use an air pocket. Just remember that forcing the player to use these tricks is usually frowned upon. It is unfair for the people who don't know this glitch. And because this glitch isn't that difficult to perform, it usually doesn't make the cave any harder than if you use an air pocket. A correct way to put this in your level would be by allowing the player to take a shortcut which would otherwise be impossible or by using this to get the Gem or Heart. That way the player isn't forced to do this and they can play on if they don't know about this trick.

Where?

This is one of the tricks you have to use in the water part of jellsprout's BootCamp. But an easier place to practice this, is by going into Tutorial 6 (Water 2). Go to the first ladder, wait until it is submerged in water and try it out.

Alternatively, you could use this cave code to try it out:

Code:
AirRefillPractice
terrain 1
background 1
water clear

This is the first article about glitches and tricks. I am planning on doing one of these for every glitch and trick in the list.

The cavecode is currently broken, but I think only Accel can fix it.
