Level Introduction

Interguild
Tutorial 5. Doesn't look too difficult, does it?

Click here for the level code of this level.

Aquaphobia (āk'wə-fō'bē-ə) n. A morbid fear of drowning.

If there's something about video games that EVERYBODY hates, it's water. Until this point, you've been spared. But now it's here, and it's here with a vengeance. Here is a list of levels that include water: Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4, Level 5, Level 6, Level 7, Level 8, Level 9, Level 10... Sensing a pattern? Well, not ALL the levels have water, but judging by the sheer amount of water scattered all over this game, you'd better overcome your fears, and quickly.

This level introduces us to the basics of water, but it's honestly quite self-explanatory. You can swim in it, and if you run out of air, you drown. Let the games begin!

Walkthrough

Begin the level by heading to the right, climbing the ladder, and diving into the water. Before you can do all that, though, you have to sit through three whole tutorial messages. The most important thing to note are the bubbles in lower-left corner of the screen that indicate your air supply. If they run out, you'll drown, so be sure to return to the surface for air at the first available opportunity! Now, collect the three treasures from this first pool of water (DON'T DROWN). One thing you should know is that, when your bubbles are completely depleted, you don't die right away. It takes about the span of another lost bubble before the death kicks in.

Interguild
Be careful not to run out of air.

After the first treasures have been collected, continue to the right and up the ladder. Soon you will encounter another pool of water, except this one extends deep into the ground. At the bottom of this pool is an arrow that will unblock the way forward. Quickly, swim down to the bottom of this pool, hit the arrow, and then swim back up to the top. Unless you dilly-dally, there should be plenty of time left on the air-clock when you resurface. Once the way is clear, jump over the remaining metal crates and continue heading rightward where another two treasures are waiting to be collected.

Now we'll encounter a long underwater tunnel that needs to be traversed. It looks scary doesn't it? But now is not the time to let yourself be overwhelmed by your aquaphobia! Nay, now is the time for action! Jump in, and begin swimming down and to the right, where you will encounter an air pocket that you can use to refill your air. Near the air pocket is a total of four treasures that you'll need to collect. Collect those, and then return to the air pocket in order to get one last gasp of air before your ascent back to the surface. Once you're ready, head right, down and around the lowest point of the tunnel, and then quickly ascend up and to the left, until you breath a sigh of relief once the surface is reached. After taking a breath of sweet, sweet air, head back for another treasure just below the surface.

A word of caution: when swimming underwater there is a pesky little glitch where, if you swim upward into a corner, you can sometimes become stuck in the wall. We'll actually make use of this glitch in getting the max points in a few levels, but, while it's sometimes useful, it's almost always a pain in the you-know-what. If you do happen to become unintentionally stuck in a wall, the only way out is to restart, costing you a life. If you remember the restarting glitch I told you about back in Tutorial 1, then you'll know that, even if you have one life left, you won't be able to restart, and the combination of these two glitches could end up costing you the game! This is actually how I got my first game over, when I was frantically jumping into an air pocket up in level three.

Interguild
You are here.

But I digress. Climb to the top of the ladder and jump off to the left, where the level's final treasures are waiting! The door is just to the left, and you should enter it, unless...

... you want to get the gem! Instead of entering the door now, jump over it, and jump into a secret area to the right.

Interguild
By now it should be easy to find these.

Once inside the secret area, you'll need to jump another two times to the left in order to get to the highest part of the secret area. Keep heading left, but stop just as you reach and collect the gem, so you don't fall into the secret area below it. From here you have two options:

  1. Keep going left, so that you fall into the secret area that leads you back to the beginning of the level, and then begin the time-consuming process of making your way back through the entire level all over again.
  2. Head back to the right and through the secret area you just came through; the door will be conveniently waiting for you at the end.
I'd choose option 2 myself, but you can choose whichever option you like.

if we consider ourselves hatpc pros, as in, years of experience in cave playing and making, making videos, guides and stuff, we really suck if it takes us so long to finish the tutorials.

but it's good that you're working on the guides. There are 3 pending, check them out too =]

CSD, after finishing the levels you should do a written walkthrough of a user made level like perhaps NWUE2.

a written Imperio guide could actually function as an article, you know perhaps i'll make one, somewhen.

Hmm, that's a neat idea, but certainly, there are more important articles? Like, scoring, movement, glitches, and the like? And then there's ice caves.... bleh.

Definitely I'll think about it, if I'm still thinking at all by the time these articles are finished... They're taking a while, is my point.

Ice Caves are completely uninteresting for us - notice the lack of a level maker. Might as well do a guide for Escape from Meridell Castle.

I don't see why these tutorials have to take such a long time to make.

Maybe you should get glasses, because even Captain Obvious could figure out that it's because us staff members are lazy, and put off editing the submitted articles and guides for months.

Haha, good point.
I really liked the tutorial walkthroughs (although I knew them). They were written with as much as detail as possible.
