Description:
Alas poor Ninja, we hardly knew ye.

The site's first N level in almost two years. My first N level, 50% chance it's my last. This started out as me having a very specific concept that I wanted to make a level of, but I had no idea of what game if any the Interguild had could portray such a concept.

As it turns out, none really do, but N gets the closest, so I settled with that and made a level slightly different from my original idea. I won't say that N has a bad level editor, but it's not great, and it'll be one of the driving reasons if I don't make any further N levels, probably the other issue being how much attention this gets.

The level is really simple. I have never been good at making DDAs, and I figured I better keep my first venture into the game simple. The level is still pretty difficult, though.

At least N levels are a lot easier to play now that you can just provide links to them.

I don't have an account to say this level is on since it's not HATPC. I will say that the protagonist of this game is certainly a 21st century ninja. Screw shrurikens, kusarigama, and assassination. They lives (and die) fighting robots and lasers in order to grab a plastic card. Given that there are 400 in game levels and a boatload of user made content, I imagine the stuff present in here isn't particularly original, but I still think it's cool. I think I would like the game better if levels could be bigger that the area present on the screen, and you could see different parts by moving around, like in HATPC. Hell, SMF even does that. Enjoy.

Oh yeah, I should mention that I HAVE beaten this. So don't give up hope! I know in previous N levels, people have posted codes that can let you see how they beat it. I don't really know how that works, but if I do, I'll be sure to post a code.

How to see the solution in browser version: Open N on Interguild, press "Play Online" on page that comes up, press "Levels" on game page, press "User Levels" in top right corner. Okay since the level gallery is built into the game in the new version, you can either just search for my level using the title option "Rest In Pieces" or search by authors with the name "NoComment". Either way, my level will come up, and you can see me beat it. Or watch two random strangers completely violate my own time! Ah, to be a noob.

I beat this in five minutes. That translates into about 30 tries or so, but most deaths were early because of the limited space given during jumping.

One issue I have is the lag caused by hitting the mines. You could easily remove all the bottom ones since you still need to hang on to the wall at the bottom, it'll increase performance somewhat significantly. You could probably also remove 50% of the mines and it'd still be impossible to get through them Likewise could you remove several of the watch dogs at the bottom, since you can just trigger them once and then stick to the wall while they group up in their respective corners.

If you want to take this concept further I suggest making the floor less wide, and use the newly found space for some smaller traps. You could also use one-way platforms or trap doors in order to create one-way passages.

(Edit: I beat it again just now, on my downloaded client, in order to record my highscore. I'm Isa, obviously. 3366 is my score.)

Looks like you still got game, Isa. If I make another level, I'll try and work in more elements there. I was disappointed by how easily the watch dogs consolidated, and  I partly left other objects out because I hadn't reached them in any in game levels yet and didn't know what they did. That still doesn't excuse me from not using platforms though.

I was initially turned off between the lack of interactivity between objects; ie, robots/lasers can phase through each other without any problems, but it's not as widespread as I thought, and I stumbled upon a future idea. I think I'm gonna have to make another level at this point.
