Well, theoretical Okapi day is long gone now, but the poll is tied, so lets have an intellectual discussion about whether or not we should officially hold world okapi day every year.

But you guys can start because I need to go to bed and then when I wake up I need to do homework and study.

Okay, should we have a world Okapi day on the IG? Yes.

Not the -1er, but...

*sigh* let me show you guys how it's done.

While devoting a day to the celebration of Okapis may perhaps not be a bad idea, there may be several issues with this idea. For one, it comes very close to Halloween. Putting it so close to another major holiday will likely downplay the significance of it, as celebration for it may get mixed with early celebration for halloween. Additionally world Okapi day will likely be celebrated almost exclusively at the interguild, and we already celebrate the holiday of Internationeezle day. Perhaps 2 interguild exclusive holidays is too much. Perhaps we should consider moving either World Okapi Day, or Halloween to an earlier date, say June 2nd, to give the two holidays more space.

Regardless, world Okapi day has already been held once on the interguild, and thus it is already a piece of interguild history. If a compromise is unavailable, perhaps we should look into combining it with Halloween, and say, having all of our members change their avatars to represent an okapi on Halloween.

These are of course just suggestions. I'm very eager to hear what your opinions on the matter are.

I like Darvince's idea of holding it on the 4th Sunday of October, except that the original Okapi day was on the 4th Saturday of October. So even if we go with that, Darvince still missed it, posting about impending Okapi day on the Friday before the 4th Saturday, and then the following Sunday.

So what day is world okapi day held on?

It's actually on the 18th. For real.
