Just going off of the server map, did someone build roads between the 3 northern villages in the Eastern Frontier, even though every time it that has been suggested, I stated that I didn't want there to be actual paths between the villages because I wanted to preserve the wilderness look.

From previous discussion on level page:
'Atvelonis' said:
Lastly, are you planning to build roads to any/all of these villages?
'Quirvy' said:
Soccer has suggested that I build actual paths between the cities, but my stance is that it's a lot of work and resources that doesn't add any functionality. I also don't like the idea because If feel like it would reduce the feel of the villages being isolated out in the wilderness

I'm assuming/hoping this was someone who didn't know that I was against doing so, rather than someone knowingly going against my wishes. Please refrain from expanding these roads any further.

Something that would be helpful, though, is if someone could settle the village southwest of Savannah, or make a bridge/tunnel connecting spawn region to the Eastern portion of the map, since that extreme hills biome is hard to travel through by foot/horse.

Oh yeah, I went over there and was wondering that. They look pretty nice at least. Bmwsu, could you check the logs?

Unfortunately, due to the backup script not backing up the entirety of the LogBlock logs, there's a sizable chunk of time lost from the logs... so who made the roads is not in the logs...

Who decided to screw up the NER?

I assume it's a Builder, not an Architect, because at the end of this tunnel there is a sign saying, "digging is tiring". (An Architect probably would've used WorldEdit)

It's not a huge deal, really, but I'm a little confused why someone did this at all... The road is fine how it is, there's no reason to change it. Whoever did this just tell me (PM or on the server or email or whatever) please, I am confused.

EDIT: Looks like the builder wanted to make the rail station more accessible. I'm fine with that, problem is it's on the NER and NERs can't be interrupted like this.

I don't know how many people have architect on the server as opposed to those who have builders, I think my status as builder makes me a suspect by default so I'll just speak up and say I didn't do it. And they are wrong, digging is FUN

This was not me. I despise digging (so boring) and would never even consider starting a tunnel.

Question: In regards to survival, why don't we use a rectangular/square border instead of a circular one? It would make it much easier to sensibly expand the worlds for updates. Instead of expanding the radius and having a layer around a circle (see: Different), you could have an actual entire region generated from a new update.

And also I remember in the past hearing stuff along the lines of, "Don't explore too much out there, we want to save some for 1.7/1.8/ect. Why not actually make the border reflect what we want to be explored in our current version of the game? If you don't want people to explore so much why make it available for them to do so?

It's very cool, but are you sure it will work? It's been a long time since Alpha v1.2.5, and I think that Mojang may have changed some of the features of boats since then.

Well, it would be possible.  It'd fit more into the lines of the 90°-ness of the game, anyway.

Something like that might have been said, but it also might have been a while ago before we decided to reset the world.  I do agree, though, that the border should be expanded accordingly when new terrain is needed.

@Kro: I don't know where you're getting the idea that they're firing the devs... only the founders, Jakob Porser, Carl Manneh, and Notch are leaving AFAIK.[1][2][3]

Nah, I like the circular border. If you want to change the shape of the border, at least don't do it on Different. A square border would be kinda boring and boring isn't what we want here.

For Different, we can't change at this point. But I think it would be a good move for Survival. You have a square border right now, 1.8 comes along, add a square another sqare border to the north, south, east of west and now we have a 1x2 rectangle where half of it is 1.8 and half of it is 1.7

If we make the change with a circle, then we'd get a giant 1.7 area in the center, and a relatively thin sized 1.8 layer on the outside, which is harder to explore since they center of the 1.8 region would be actually the center of the 1.7 region. Updated with square/rectangular regions makes more sense IMO. It doesn't really matter for Creative since 1.8 didn't really add an new biomes, but for survival it makes a big difference because it makes new materials available so we want to make 1.8 most conveniently accessible, rather than spread it out around the outer borders, like 1.7 is in Different.

I was scouting out an area to start my next project, and found a pretty ideal one. Unfortunately I envision the area around my project being completely covered in snow, and the patch of tundra that I chose seems to just happen to have more patches of grass than other tundra areas. I spent some time covering bare spots in snow, but there's still a lot in the surrounding area that needs to be covered. I wasn't sure if there was a command to make snow fall, so I tried /snow and it seems like it's one I don't have permission for.

I understand, if it literally just makes snow fall from the sky within a certain radius, there is room for abuse. Is it an architect power? What does the command exactly do? I'm juggling a few creations to begin, so I can hold up on this one and save it for if I ever gain architect powers if the /snow command is an attainable goal.

The area I'm interested in is around 1642 80 -6098, in case you wanted to get an idea of what I'm talking about. The patches of grass aren't as prevalent as they were before, but I still want to cover a lot of the surrounding area in order to achieve the best immersion possible. PS: Does snow melt? It'd suck for me to lay it all down only to have random parts of it revert to grass

If it is a snow biome in this version, /rain. Minecraft makes rain snow if it's a snow biome. Otherwise, an architect can help you

For Architects there's //snow. I can come on and help you sometime if you want.

The only problem with that command is that if you accidentally add an extra zero then the server might crash. (I know from experience)

Hey, so I was making a railway across the world... Thing is, it's 200 blocks away from the NER, which already has a rail, so it's utterly useless. I want to build it, but at the same time I'm expecting everyones gonna want it destroyed. So should i destroy it, or finish it? If you're wondering it's at x=232

I've been messing around in Survival (trying to) and near the Windmill/Yimmy's house today I noticed a block waaaay up in the air? Does anyone know how/why it's there?
Spoiler:

Also, I died during the night and respawned at the last bed I slept in, and it was still night outside. So I slept til morning and walked outside only to find several monsters still about. I saw a few catch on fire, but the ones that didn't ended up killing me. Is this normal? And this may not be surprising, but I am doing horribly on Survival. I don't want to sound needy, but feel free to offer me any guidance or assistance if you see me on the server.

Yes, the monsters are normal. Go to sleep as early as possible to avoid that.
