The challenge is simple. The six songs in the challenge (numbered randomly) are by three different artists, two songs per artist. Your challenge is to match them in pairs by artist and tell me (DroidFreak) what the three pairs of songs are. If you guess correctly, you have successfully completed the challenge.
As a bonus challenge, I have also included two bonus songs by popular artists. For those you simply have to tell me what artist they're from. You've almost certainly heard of both artists.
All files have been stripped of metadata, so you can't peek that way (Side note, do you know how hard it is to remove copyright metadata?).
I will give the answers to both challenges roughly 2 days after they are issued.
Probably a stupid problem... I'm getting the error that I can't open the file as an archive. I'm using 7-Zip. I also tried using Windows Explorer and it said the file was invalid. Am I dumb?
COMING SOON: A giant meteor. Please.
Give me +karma. Give me +karma.
i gave this a shot but i had to conduct a lyrics search for both bonus songs to find out the artists, and i haven't ever listened to the bonus1 artist. second bonus was easier for me to guess but i still did that lyrics search since the song was unfamiliar. main challenge is just too difficult for me
Yaya, it sounds like your download was corrupted or incomplete when you tried to open it. Try downloading it again and give it a shot.
Isa, the point of the bonus songs is that they sound nothing like what that artist's usual style does, so it's not surprising you had to do a lyrics search. Unless you know the song or recognize the singer's voice, you're probably not gonna guess those.
Okay, time for me to embarrass myself & lose street cred with Droidfreak
Spoiler:
009 & 075
038 & 086
015 & 069
Bonus 1: Drake
Bonus 2: Taylor Swift
Although the mystery songs weren't of the Monstercat variety, they might as well have been for me :p Probably the only more difficult genre would have been ambient. I listen to plenty of instrumental electronica, but usually not in that style. Maybe it's easier when you have a decent familiarity with the genre. Like if you gave me 6 mystery speedcore songs, I might've felt more confident lol
Speaking of a lack of confidence... how bout those bonus songs? While I likely am familiar with whatever artists they're by, my perception of what is and isn't considered popular kinda messed with me in my head, so I went for like super well-known artists. I'm pretty clueless about Bonus 1... I thought it could be Twenty One Pilots, but it also kind of sounded nasally, which I associate with Drake (I do not listen to either of them). I instantly got Robyn or Carly Rae Jepson vibes from Bonus 2, but I wasn't sure if they were popular enough to be the answer, so I went with T Swizzle who has a pretty adaptable voice afaik
COMING SOON: A giant meteor. Please.
Give me +karma. Give me +karma.
I won't give out the answers to the actual challenge until two days are up (so no one can get it spoiled) but I will answer your bonus challenge answers.
Yaya:
You can't lose any street cred by getting these wrong. Like I said in the chatbox, these songs were chosen to intentionally make it difficult.
And yeah, even though these songs aren't Monstercat they're still EDM like most of my music is.
Spoiler:
You were right with your first guess on bonus 1, it was Twenty One Pilots. It really sounds like a hip-hop song, not at all like TOP usually do. Well, not until that part near the end that kinda gives it away IMO. Bonus 2 is indeed Taylor Swift, but again it sounds nothing like the rest of her music. The first time I heard it on the radio, I thought it was just some generic pop song and didn't recognize the artist at all.

woah! this is a cool idea!
hold on a sec, let me try...
EDIT: Whew, I think I've made this too difficult, but
I've given you 6 songs, and you have to get the maker of the song, and the song title DOWNLOAD OF SONGS

That's a significantly harder challenge than (either of) mine, since if you don't already know those songs there's nothing you can do. I listened to those songs and I don't know any of them, although I'm sure I've heard #6 at some point and #3 sounds vaguely familiar.
Songs 1, 2, and 4 are all part of a style of EDM I generally avoid. In a word, Brostep. Even though only one of them is actually dubstep, they all have that Skrillex-type heavy drop that I really don't care for (and Bangarang isn't dubstep either).
Song 6 is more like what I'd listen to, although the drop is still heavier and less melodic than my tastes usually run. It's kinda... generic? But those vocal chops are really recognizable/memorable, that's how I'm sure I've heard it before.
Song 3 kinda sounds like an anime intro or something. That descending chord progression from the intro sounds familiar, as does the riff that comes after it, but the rest is less recognizable to me.
Song 5 has a somewhat similar vibe but is more progressive. It almost sounds like a soundtrack piece by Henry Jackman. Almost. Has that soundtrack vibe though.
EDIT: I didn't open ANSWERS until after I typed all that, but I do know (and like) that song.
Side note, Bangarang is complextro as is your song 2 and your song 4 is drumstep. Your song 1 is actual dubstep and your song 6 is bass house or electro or something.

well, 3 is pretty close, it's a remix of a song from touhou, so it's quite japan
I'm about 90% certain I've recommended song 6 to you before
I think I've recommended songs by the artist for song 4
If you want the answers, I'll place them in a spoiler
Spoiler:
SONG 1 - UH ON
SONG 2 - YOU
SONG 3 - FRICCIN
SONG 4 - MORON
SONG 5 - YOU GOT
SONG 6 - BEANED
nah, in all seriousness, just look inside the picture, I mean, really far inside

Ok, as promised here's the full answers to the contest(s):
Bonus songs:
Spoiler:
Bonus song 1 is Doubt by Twenty One Pilots. Unlike most of TOP's songs, it mostly sounds like something straight out of popular hip-hop (until the end
Bonus song 2 is Welcome to New York by Taylor Swift. It does sounds like her voice if you pay attention to that, but the style is wildly different than her other songs.
Main challenge:
Spoiler:
Song 009 is Sweet Story by Tobu (also spelled 7obu), a house artist on NCS. I actually followed him from back before he was on NCS. Sweet Story (2015) is a minimalist tropical house track in a refreshing change from his usual house style.
The other track by Tobu is actually song 075, Just Another Random Title (Yes, he actually called it that), from the beginning of his career in 2012 before he fell into the established house style. Just Another Random Title is a heavy electro house song with a dubstep bridge which I chose to throw off people from the Tobu scent, but Yaya actually got this pair correct, so congrats.
Song 015 is Beer Remastered by Approaching Nirvana (A->N for short), a predominately house duo (which sadly lost one of its members recently) with roots in orchestral music. Beer was originally released in 2011 and was remastered in 2012. It's a heavy electro house track but still very progressive and melodic as A->N songs tend to be. HB matched this with Just Another Random Title, which is a perfectly understandable choice since they're both heavy electro house.
The other A->N song is song 086, Tomorrow a house track from 2013 with the same sort of progressive and melodic nature but without the heavy electro elements. No one got this particular pair right because the next song...
038, Azalea by MDK, sounds like an Approaching Nirvana song. Both HB and Yaya matched this is Tomorrow, and rightly so. They sound like they could be by the same artist, but they aren't. MDK is a solo artist who usually makes songs in a very different style - a far less progressive heavy electro/dubstep style with chiptune and orchestral elements. Azalea (2013) was a bit of a red herring I threw in there, a progressive house song very much in Approaching Nirvana's style. Hey, I did say this was the hard mode of this challenge.
Song 069, Bang (and I swear that number was randomly generated) sounds much more like MDK's typical style. A rambunctious moombahcore banger (no pun intended) from 2014 which has a bit of a progressive buildup but a much harsher edge than any of the other songs and a decent amount of chiptune in there. The closest song to its style would probably be Beer Remastered, like Yaya matched it with, but even that's really not a fit for MDK's usual style since Azalea's such an outlier.

The songs in this one were much more my style. I only know one of them for sure though (Guess which one XD).
1: Some kinda funky complextro with lots of variety. My first thought was Savant, although I could see it being MDK or PrototypeRaptor as well. I don't recognize the song though. It's probably just someone I don't know.
2: Some kinda bass house.
3: I think it's nu disco. Beyond that, I haven't really got a clue who it would be.
4: Breakbeat. Kinda Muzzy-style but not quite, so IDK on this one too. Also sounds kinda like TeknoAXE but I'm pretty sure he couldn't produce that drop.
5: This sounds like Newgrounds trance. Not sure how a music hosting site can have a style, but newgrounds does. XD
6: Kawaii chiptuney glitch hop. Sounds like something NCS would release but I'm pretty sure I've heard both of the glitch hop tracks they've uploaded. It also sounds kinda like OMFG, but with out the signature catchy hook and vocal chops. So IDK.
7: Unless I miss my guess, this is actual techno. No clue as to the artist though.
8: Heavy complextro. Sounds like Doctor P, but I know you listen to plenty of artists in that style so it could be any of them.
9: Ayy, I'd recognize those drums and that sound design anywhere. Didn't recognize the song itself at first because it's a recent single, but it was pretty easy to find it on his channel. It's MDK - Super Ultra.
10: Huh. Well, it seems to be tropical house with a funky rap about donkey kong. That's oddly specific. On further research, I've determined it's a tropical house remix of this rap. I didn't find the actual remix though.

Interesting response @DroidFreak36, here's my opinion
Spoiler:
1. It's not any of the bands you said, and considering you own GD, I'm quite surprised you didn't get this one
2. I'm going to assume you're correct on this one.
3. Same as 2, but I think I've shown you one of the guys songs before
4. It's not TeknoAKE, but it's quite similar
5. Yeah, Newgrounds trance is very to heart with this song, the creator is about the third artist I think of when I think early newgrounds, after ParagonX9 and Goukisan
6. Yeah, side note, this is the second newest song in my playlist, the newest song is by the same person
7. This is also a very new piece, and techno is a good way of describing it
8. I know 100% that you have heard of this artist before, because you once showed me one of his songs
10. Welcome to KONG UP, the worst song on television
