Considering that I'm finally about to gain the ability to add settings, I'm thinking more seriously about adding a soundtrack to HATPCR.
The concept I have is to include several songs each from a handful of artists, chosen to keep a fairly coherent style. The artists I have in mind right now are Extan, MaHi, and Approaching Nirvana. Here's a bio on each:
------
Extan is a 24 year old German producer who produces liquid and melodic drum & bass and dubstep. He's one of the first artists I discovered and still one of the most underground.
His style really sets the tone for this soundtrack concept - it's a melodic, sorta chill, sorta melancholy style that is at the same time fast-paced.
For some good examples of his DnB, see
Don't Stop and
Endless Horizon
For some good examples of his dubstep, see
What I Left Behind and
Infinity
There's plenty more where those came from as well. If I go through with this concept, I wouldn't be surprised if over half of the songs used are from Extan.
------
MaHi is an artist from PA who falls more on the chill side. His music is very melodic, progressive, and ... you know, chill. It really speaks for itself if you hear it:
Arcus (Drum & bass)
The Flow (Dubstep)
Something Strange (House/trance)
HEY! (Electro)
Expect to see MaHi tracks on the more chill levels, or maybe levels that are especially long and progressive.
------
Approaching Nirvana is a formerly two-man house group (now one) that started off making orchestral music and transitioned over time into heavy dance tracks.
A lot of their music doesn't really fit the theme of the proposed soundtrack, but some of them do:
South Side
Soar
Celtic Rumors
Tomorrow
A->N sorta fills in the more upbeat side of this soundtrack concept, and they have a huge backlog of music at this point. Even though not all of their songs fit the theme, they have a wide variety of songs, and quite a few that do fit the theme.
