For those of you who are not aware (prolly all of you tbh) Monstercat split into two sub-labels at the beginning of the year. Monstercat Uncaged is on the original YouTube channel and tries to recapture the original spirit of Monstercat as a heavy label (originally mostly dubstep), while Monstercat Instinct is a new channel which has... well, IDK. I think it's supposed to be for the less intense songs but so far all of the most 🔥 songs of 2018 have been on Instinct.
My favorite 3 songs of 2018 so far (in order), all of which are on Instinct:
(1) Grabbitz - My Cloud (Dubstep)
(2) Rogue - Fortress (Future Bass)
(3) Notaker - Too Smooth (feat. Grey MTTR) (Nu Disco)

Something I've been listening to a lot recently is Edvard Grieg's Holberg Suite. It's a fantastic piece of music, and it's interesting that it was composed for a string orchestra rather than a full symphony orchestra.

@Sefro - Those Mr. Robot soundtrack songs sound pretty sweet. Kinda like the Ex Machina soundtrack.
In other news, I've got 3 flavors of DnB for you today. Because I love DnB, that's why.
Flavor 1: Heavy DnB/Metal/Industrial
Muzzy feat. Celldweller - New Age
Heavy electronic/metal/industrial legend Celldweller finally appears on Monstercat as a featured vocalist on DnB legend Muzzy's new album. This song rocks.
Flavor 2: Chill/Melodic DnB
Champion feat. Veela - Breathe
Prolific EDM vocalist Veela provides a great performance on this melodic DnB track that's much more chill than Muzzy's style.
Flavor 3: K-Pop‽
Twice - What is Love?
I don't listen to K-Pop very often, but this song caught my attention in part because it's DnB. Why can't we have any DnB in American pop? SMH. Anyways, this song is pretty good IMO.

Recently I've been listening to some songs by a Swedish heavy metal band called Sabaton. They make lots of songs about historical wars and battles, so it's right up my alley. Two good albums of theirs are Carolus Rex ( Spotify / Youtube), which focuses on the Swedish Empire during the Thirty Years' War and the Great Northern War, and The Last Stand ( Spotify / Youtube), which has songs about the Italian Wars, the Great Turkish War, and various others. It fits very well when playing grand strategy games like Europa Universalis 4 or any of the Total War games.

I deleted all Kanye from my music library once he said slavery was a choice. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I know everyone has their own lines for separating the art from the artist, and he crossed mine. I guess it helped that I never got around to listening to TLOP given it's cluster**** of a release. Surprisingly I've yet to particularly miss his music or find myself in a situation like "dang, I wish I had (kanye song) on my phone)

This isn't the type of song I'd normally listen to, but there's something about it I really like
Feel Good - Syn Cole

Maigre by Igorrr & Ruby My Dear (you would like this Yaya)
Also The Now Now, the new Gorillaz album. It's more consistent in tone than Humanz (maybe a bit too consistent and samey) but I like it, especially Tranz and Sorcererz. | | Jorster |

The entirety of kids see ghosts, the newest collab album between kid cudi and Kanye west has been in my daily rotation since it came out. It's only 7 tracks long, and every single one is fantastic, i highly recommend checking it out. My favorite is probably the opening track, feel the love. The transition from pusha T to cudis melodic singing to Kanye just going GRACKGAKGAKGAK over the beat is the most fun thing I've listened to in 2018. Check it out here https://youtube.com/watch?v=gh3MBkDK61A

You're right, Sefro. I do like that
As for what I've been listening to lately:
Butthole Surfers. One of those bands that I've always meant to check out, but didn't until recently. This has been an earworm of mine for the past week or so
Sophie. ***BANGER ALERT****
DJ Spooky. His discography seems pretty diverse, but I like him the most when he's basically a more IDM-oriented version of DJ Shadow
Jorster, I assume you've listened to Year Of The Snitch by now. You likey?

I like it as much as I like other death grips projects. Weird as hell and a lot of fun to listen to. For whatever reason I don't really relisten a whole lot to them, but I do enjoy weird experimental like that, a la clipping and such.

Yeah, I'd definitely describe it as weird. I've only listened to it a few times since its dropped, and I keep putting off doing it again just because it's a looooot to take in.

Wow I finally decided to look up the translation of the lyrics of Despacito and it is not what I expected at all...
