Sorry I just hear a lot of rumours about american education systems that may not be corroborated by facts... is it true that you had to pledge your allegiance to the american flag every day in grade school? Also does every american have to take a wacky geometrical proofs course in grade 9?

Yes to the pledge, I don't remember about the geometrical thing but I was also pretty fried through all of high school so it's possible

The pledge of allegiance is a thing all the way from kindergarten to senior year of high school. In elementary school, my school would always follow it with singing "My Country 'Tis of Thee," which was thankfully not something we had to endure later on. As a kid you don't think twice about the pledge, but by the time high school comes around it starts to feel like you've been indoctrinated into the Hitler Youth. Fortunately most (sane) HS teachers get that older students can't be bothered to stand up, put their hand over their heart, and swear fealty to a piece of cloth every single day at 8:00 in the morning.

9th grade geometry was all about proofs. My teacher was an extremely devout Christian lady who often threatened to kill herself by jumping out the 2nd story window if students didn't do their homework. But she taught math pretty well and by the end of the year proofs were no longer a traumatic experience.

Wow, that sounds like something out of 1984..... I kept hearing that it is a Thing but I guess I never really believed it because I didn't see it in any of the american tv shows I watched. Not that there were many of them since I don't watch TV, but it would probably be kind of boring to show something that happens every day, which is why you don't see your cool action heroes go to the washroom, or brush their teeth. Grade school refers to all the grades where your grade level is described by a grade so that's all the way from grade 1 to 12. The proofs course is mysteriously absent from the BC provincial educational system, along with non-inflated grades. To be honest, my self-esteem would probably have been better in high school if the grades hadn't been so inflated
