Do you need help with this girl you like? Is the Earth really getting destroyed by neutrinos? Can't get that pickle jar open? Ask Sprout!*

*Sprout is no way responsible for any possible consequences of his responses, nor is he required to answer any question seriously

Will the world really end in 2012?

There are no indications. The main claim is that the Maya calander ends in 2012, and they've predicted all eclipses correctly so far. However, this claim is far from the truth. Recent counings have shown that the mayan calander doesn't end in 2012, but somewhere in the 23rd century.
My personal arguement against it is that the mayan calander had to stop somewhere. It is impossible to make an endless calander. They probably decided to stop there and increase it somewhere later in time.
Another suggestion is that the calander will loop back to the start again if it ends.

If we look at all possibilities for the destruction of the world, none could happen fast enough to make the world end in 2012. Global warming won't have such drastic effects for the next few decades, there is no sign of an increase in volcanic activity, the sun has been stable in activity. Only a nuclear war could end the world by then, but I doubt they could predict back in the 15th century that revolutionary physics from the 20th century would allow the creation of weapons of mass destruction, which would finally lead to a global war exactly in December 2012.

OK.  So, there's this girl I am madly in love with, yet I hardly ever see her, and I can't make myself ask her out.  Now what?

@bmwsu: The best ice breaker for a girl is buying her a drink. But you are a little too young for that. So just make small talk. Treat her like you would treat a guy and once you get more comfortable with her everything should go easier. Just keep your head cool and don't rush into things.

@Teo: TNT doesn't care about HatPC. It would take two seconds for them to make the uploader be able to upload the < and > signs without allowing HTML, but they won't do it. I also think they don't have the original staff anymore that created HatPC. So no, I don't think the glitch will ever be fixed.

Actually, a TNT staff member said that they know Viacom is feeding them lies, sometimes.

Hey, Sprout, what would happen if you hired two private investigators to spy on each other?

If anything is possible, then is it possible to find something that is impossible?

@Teo: No.

@Quirvy: Not everything is possible. An example: it is impossible to create a machine that reduces entropy.

@Harumbai: Entropy is the amount of chaos inside a system. It is possible to disorder any organised system, but it is impossible to organise chaos without creating an equal amount of chaos in a seperate location. This is also what the third law of thermodynamica means.
A system will always eventually have all its internal energy converted to heat, because that is the least organised form of energy. The best possible machine (a Carnot machine) will have no heat loss, it is impossible to create a machine which transforms heat into usable energy.
Entropy is also a song by VNV Nation, an Electronic band I very much recommend. Especially their song Kingdom.

@Chelinka: A quark isn't an atom. An atom is constructed of protons, which are constructed of two up quarks and one down quark, and neutrons, which are constructed of two down quarks and one up quark.

No, a neutron isn't an atom either. It is a part of the atom.
The smallest atom would be 1-Hydrogen, which consists of only one proton and an electron.

@Yaya: I sent this link to Harumbai in a PM earlier.

I don't use that though, so don't blame me for any issues with it.

Also, keep an eye out for Spotify. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spotify
