That's weird, is there some forum that only members can see? Cuz the link to the old site I posted in the Random Levels news post shows up fine

As a celebration of the Interguild's longevity I believe that the old staff forums should be opened for all to see and read. After we hacked the Overlord's admin account, the password of which was, I kid you not, "d52", we read everything in the staff forums and concluded that there was nothing particularly sensitive inside. Six years have passed since we moved from the old Interguild to the new one. What do you have to fear? What do you have to hide?

I have to say, this site has lost a lot of its original charm.
It's not as active as it used to be. The community isn't as diverse.
Even the level-making aspect seems to be disappearing.
I have to say, I do miss the old website.
The useless dubloons. The options you could choose.
Being able to open a topic, and seeing the discussion revolving around levels.
Or sometimes about Pokémon. Or GTA.
The rampant immaturity lol 69
But that was an eternity ago.
An era where things were carefree.

I kind of see the Interguild as someone you've been married to for 50 years. The passion died years ago, but you stay together out of love. Or habit.

lol remember this site used to be run by 14 year olds, so this is what I came up with

solution:
1. perma-ip ban all the current admins
2. make mymop and yimmy the admins
3. start recruiting on youtube minecraft videos made by 9 year olds
4. repeat every 5 or so years

Is there any reason that we can't just recruit people from other forums?

Reading through wileywoo's old rating board. Given the whole revelation that wileywoo was dando(/Sefro) in disguise, some of these quotes caught my eye:

'qbreadd' said:
scoff scoff. you obviously dont know me. I have no overly difficult caves.
'wileywoo' said:
Hahaha, sure.
Mezanine doesn't count then?
'qbreadd' said:
o_O you played Mezanine? Haha. That was my first speed cave. Well, it is just the first part in Mezanine that is utterly annoying for some people. The rest is fun and suspensful.

'Acceleron_3000' said:
xD this is awesome. I've always wanted to see how much someone could hate my caves. I remember Dando gave The Drill a negative rating once.

'wileywoo' said:
Primary Lotus: 0/10. I can rarely get much into the first bit (it feels like luck on my part most of the time), and when I do, I die a very frustrating death. *hands your mother a smelly frog*

... That wasn't much of a formal rate. I'm realizing I don't like number-rating-systems... They sound somewhat too harsh. I see the effort you put into Primary Lotus, so maybe there's a way to acknowledge that as well.... Maybe I should just write up what I think of your caves, and numbers can just go out the door.
'Acceleron_3000' said:
I saw your new rating topic and I decided to go here first.

I think Dando realized this too. You're pretty much going through all the phases she did. lol, and then she switched to a topic where she just talks about your cave.

Side note, it is amazing how defensive everyone was about level difficulty. But I mean, you can't blame really blame past us, when all we'd made before was super difficult caves and we were still prideful of them.

A couple more random quotes:

I like the board. Everytime I was like "new post in the offtopics!!!" and it's a number, and I just wasted a bunch of time going to see it, on dial-up, I felt pretty duped. Good times. I'm not being sarcasitic (actually); getting duped by the number board is one of the trademarks of our forum.

On the topic of level difficulty, we are definitely a hardcore community where complexity is valued. However, if we want to expand our community of HATPC level-makers (other games aside), we do need to use our expertise in HATPC mechanics to build a more accessible set of levels that we can point new players in the direction of.

Perhaps we should also turn our values away from complexity and difficulty, and towards straight-up good level design. I think the person who has nailed this the best has been Sefro. His levels are challenging, but they're fair and they don't involve filling every tile with death spikes and zero-margin-of-error traps. His levels have been celebrated, and rightly so, but I would love to see more.

Cause and Effect definitely comes to mind. The first thing that the player encounters when they play that level is that simple box-jump to knock down the first dynamite. It's so simple but so clearly defines the theme of the level in a way that is organized, direct and satisfying.

See that is part of a problem. If you want to draw in newbies, you have to level with them, but if you want to truly gain the satisfaction, you need to think deep and utilise the highest levels of complexity that this game allows you to.

Love this thread.
I don't know what shocked me more, that wiley was dando or that dando was a guy

Lol, I don't know why I'm confessing to this 7.5 years later but Neezles wasn't lying on the third page when she said it was me who showed her the page with Livio and Haily's baby pictures... it was me. I was the one who found it. We were doing a good cop/bad cop thing at the time by using me as a bargaining chip to stay on the interguild, cuz livio needed graphics for aeon.

lol I remember those times. Neezles made it a bit too obvious at some point that she thought she could push our buttons far because IP banning her would mean IP banning you as well. I remember literally the last thing she said before she was re-banned was something like "but you can't ban me, because if you ban me then you ban HB, too!", to which Dando replied something like "That's just something we're going to have to live without "
