Simply put, I can't run Canadianstickdeath's New Cavemaker. Whenever I open the batch file, I get a notice claiming that 'java' is not a known command or whatever. I figured this would be due to Java not being installed correctly, but it... is.

Is Windows 7 the problem? Is there a replacement code for the batch file? Thanks a lot!

There's a way to get it to work from wherever. If you put Java in your path... Lemme google instructions.... Done! OK (note, this wasn't tested on Win7, but there's a good chance it hasn't changed):
- Right-click on "My Computer"
- Click Properties
- Click "Advanced System Settings" (will likely require a confirmation from an administrator)
- Click "Environment Variables"
- Down where it says "System Variables", scroll down and double-click on "Path".
- At the end of the "Variable Value" field, add a semi-colon (aka: ; ) followed by the full path to java's "bin" folder (if you're wondering which folder I mean, you just pasted all of your cavemaker files into it, lol). If you want a good place to copy that path from, try navigating windows explorer into the bin folder, and then clicking up near the end of the address bar.
- Click all the OK's to get back out.

You should now be able to run the Cavemaker (or any other Java program) from within any folder on your computer. The reason why it worked on your other computer is that the folder was already in your path. I've never had to add it manually, but I'm not really sure how it gets in there, lol.

I'd love to do that, but I tend to use Python at times, and that would likely mess some Python stuff up. So no thanks. But thanks.

Are you sure about that? You don't replace Python in the path, or anything, you just add Java to it. Like I said, you add a semi colon, and you paste Java's path onto the end, leaving the rest of the path untouched. If you're unsure, try copying the path and pasting it into a text file, or something, before making any changes, and if it does mess something up, you can just paste it back to the way it was?

I've been wondering why it didn't work in Win 7!

Ughhhh the cavemaker worked yesterday when I got it to work but now it doesn't! Help? The java is in program files x86, is that a problem?

Windows 7 no longer has this problem. Just tested it for myself.

windows 7 has no windows movie maker, and downloading the one from microsoft is seriously bad. anyone knows what version was on the original XP?

I am 95% sure it's 2.6.

Also, here's a protip for Java; get the x64 bit version if you want to allocate more RAM to any Java program.

Also, use the Java control panel to disable Java from your browser for a lesser risk of being infected with the Blackhole Exploit Kit and/or another exploit.  And also you should disable Java from your plugins on your browser.
