I entered the courthouse to see a man, hanging dead from the ceiling. Feeling sick, I decided to close the court and let the police inspector examine the body.

Nebnebben was a Drunk Thug, Mafia Aligned.

I finally realised we had won. The evil had ben drained from the town.

Typho was a Modified Jack-Of-All Trades, Town Aligned.
Yuggy was a Hintman, Town Aligned.
Jellsprout was a Vanilla Townie.

TOWNIES WIN!

Player list, with ratings on how they did

1. Thomas (6/10)
2. Silver (1/10)
3. Yaya (8/10)
4. Yuggy (7/10)
5. CSD (4/10)
6. Soccerboy (4/10)
7. KoolerTheFirst (3/10)
8. Typho56 (9/10)
9. Shos (7/10)
10. Jell (7/10)
11. Nebnebben (5/10)
12. ShaveyDave (7/10)

Whilst I admit the Mafia team was underpowered, they did also play pretty badly.

Typho will be hosting the next game, Transport Mafia.

More info will be released when I have time.

I feel these were related. =p

For everyone not knowing, Mafia only had a 50% success rate on their kills, and Silver could not kill at all. If Jazz/nebnebben and CSD coordinated their kills (they could one person each during the night) they had 100% success rate - which is balanced and fine until one of them dies. CSD gave up pretty much from the start when he realized this.

How modified was Typho's role exactly?

He could kill during the day, not the night. Everything else was standard.

It must have included the following: Dayvig, Cop, Doctor/Self-doc. Possibly more.

PEdit: Why did he survive when Yaya tried to kill him?

Well that means I should've died when I failed killing him. Riiiight?????

Edit: Wait, probably my NK immunity stopped that.

Shavey's final act was to put a reflector around Typho, who changed the game, so without his final act it would not have ended this way. Yaya, however survived as he was bullet-proof, and therefore immune to night kills.

That explains a few things, I thought of the reflector as a redirector.

Still, dayvig is an extremely powerful role, and on a JOAT, is quite ridiculous as shown in this game. This game suffered a lot from balance issues, with THREE investigative roles - two cops and one JOAT.

Yaya, a normal mafia game consists of well over 50% Vanilla Townies. Power roles are EXTREMELY useful. Having two cops in the same game is just ridic. You clearly underestimate the power of a VT.

Sorry, Isa. I didn't know. Just in past our past games, everyone had a role no matter how useless, so that threw me off.

My offline Mafia games consist off the following:

16 players (roughly, on average)
4 Mafia
1 Cop
1 Doc, not allowed to protect the same target twice in a row

That's it.

Geez, not even SKs? I'm guessing those games are the opposite of ours; almost all action happens during the day.

SK's are rare even online, usually seen in large games of ~20 players or so, according to my experience, and even then they are far from guaranteed.

Comments to all players:

Thomas: Amazing play.

Silver: I have already covered in the graveyard the problems with your play but never refuse reads or say you don't know anything. Start the game with lots of posts and make sure the posts are relevant to the game. No active lurking.

Yaya: If you can play the way you did in this game as scum, the town is screwed. Already commented in graveyard but I thought you shouldn't look so pro-town as the indie because you could be a NK target. If I was mafia I would have probably targeted you on N1. You had a really powerful role and if you had survived D3 and killed a mafioso on N3, you may have been able to win.

Yuggy: Well first off you should trust your reads or else you shouldn't post them. That means you should not say "I could be wrong though", "imo", or "I think" because those don't sound very convincing. Your play on D1 was not good so then I guess that meant you got a hint that tells you someone else's night action? I didn't like that hint because it almost directly revealed someones night action and was close to confirming someone as town which was not good for the mafia. So I guess that's what guyguy thought was a bad hint...? Your play did get better later on in the game and you were more trusted because of those hints.

canadianstickdeath: Already said in PM's that you should have actually put more effort into the game and I think that if you had been really active on D1 then you could have easily swept through the rest of the game without being attacked. Even though you didn't think you could win this, you should have had a more positive attitude towards the game because perhaps the negative comments in the secret baord were the reason nebnebben killed himself...?

soccerboy13542: I can't think of anything amazing about your play but you had it easy when you became (almost) confirmed town from the VC on day 1. If I remember correctly, you were not posting reads or thoughts so you should start doing that in the future.

KoolerTheFirst: Your play was bad, but not scummy. I saw you as a new townie and not scum I believe you were asked many times on D1 to post reads and stuff but you either ignored it or you spend 2 minutes writing a post and then go back to posting in forum games. So in the future you should read the thread more carefully and spend more time writing your posts.

Typho: I have not seen enough from you to comment on but I'll say that I think the 9/10 rating from guyguy on how well you did it too high. You were lucky to get a powerful role, lucky to find the indie and lucky the daykill hit the mafia godfather which confirmed you as town but if you look at things without taking into account how you did with your role, you didn't look particularly pro-town. You certainly sent the game in a new direction though.

shos: I don't remember very much about your play because I was focusing on others on D1 but like what I said to Yuggy, avoid saying "imo" or "I think", etc. because it doesn't sound like you trust what you are saying and will not convince others as well. I don't know how you got a town read on Yuggy but it felt like you were  tunneling too much on me and not looking at others. You kept your vote on me for almost the entire day because I knew the mafia can start talking when they get their role PM's.

jellsprout: Either you are underrated or shos and Shavey Dave are rated too high but I think it's the latter. You're good at not tunneling too much on people, I may have tunneled too much on Yuggy and shos tunneled too much on me. I still don't see how you had a town read on Yuggy so can you explain this? You should have not refused to post your reads and made up that 'false sense of security' thing because it just doesn't make sense. I still think you looked scummy but nobody else attacked you so apparently you looked pro-town in the eyes of others.

nebnebben: I do not remember you posting very much so I will just say that killing yourself was a terrible idea. You decided to give up when the game was not even over and you let down your teammates (well, Silver at least). Some mods can even modkill you for not playing to meet your win condition. What made you decide to kill yourself?

Shavey Dave: I'm not sure why you have a 7/10 rating on how well you played but maybe from guyguy's point of view he thinks you used your night action well or something. I can see why others attacked you on D1 for joining any wagon you could like you didn't care who was lynched but I didn't necessarily find that scummy so then I posted and said that I thought your mistakes were those a new player would make. I did not like how you quoted what I said and tried to use my words to defend yourself after I made that post. I think that goes beyond newbie mistakes and I would have voted you for doing that if I had the chance.

Oh and this is my first win!! 1-3

I didn't know Yuggy was Town at the time, but I didn't think he was scum either. There are two reasons to play careful:
(1) Because you are afraid to die and get removed from the game.
(2) Because you are scum and afraid to get caught.
In the case of (1) the player will generally try to avoid being hostile to the other players and/or to avoid attention. In the case of (2) the player will generally try to actively avoid all scumtells they know of and/or to avoid attention. Yuggy was neither avoiding attention, nor was he trying to play as un-scummy as possible. This made it a clear (1) to me. This didn't confirm him as Town, but because there were more suspicious people in the game I wanted to spare him. When he claimed Hintman and confirmed a Reflector it confirmed Town for me.

I also want to quote a post from CSD from the Mafia board:
'canadianstickdeath' said:
I have a theory that, as long as you're not obvious about it, Thomas is blind to being buddied (see: Thomith). So the goal for me will be to stay on his good side, while we throws out accusations toward everyone else. This plan... will not work, but w/e, lol.

I sort-of called this on the first day, as well as you and CSD protecting Jazz, though I thought this also confirmed you as Mafia. CSD's accusation towards Yuggy while ignoring all other scummy actions made me suspect him as Mafia. This also made it unlikely for Yuggy to be Mafia in my eyes.

And about the 'false sense of security' thing, it isn't just the targetted player's false sense of security. By telling a person how scummy they are playing, you are automatically telling all other scum how they shouldn't play. You are helping the scum become undetectable. Later in the game this could work when you suddenly see players who weren't the center of attention suddenly change how they play, but early in the game when some people haven't posted much this won't be as noticeable. This is especially true for the Mafia, who can coordinate each other. They might think they have the perfect strategy not to get discovered. But when one of them gets called the Mafia can coordinate each other again to make sure the others remain unsuspicious, while if you let the three of them do their own thing for a while you can catch all three of them together.

I was going to be lynched anyway, Thomas. It would of just pointlessly delayed the mafia game.
