I saw a GIF of Manu Bennett, the guy who played that pale Orc, showing his actual face and the lay-over CGI next to it. To be quite honest, Manu Bennett himself was far scarier than the actual Orc.
Is birdemic actually any good to watch? I know its crappy, and that can be fun, like Troll 2 was a blast to watch. But I've seen a little before, and I worry this might be so low quality that it's mostly painful to sit through, instead of humorously bad throughout

Recently I've been watching some war movies. Not excessively watching, just one every week or two. Fury was very good (although there was a lot of language). The coolest thing about it is that they actually used real tanks in the filming, and not just tanks modified to slightly resemble other tanks. They actually used the only fully restored Tiger 1, which they borrowed from the Bovington Tank Museum in the UK. I also saw A Bridge Too Far, which was pretty good.

Just watched parellels which you guys have likely not heard of
Pretty good except the fact that at the end they seriously throw in a couple loose ends just for kicks
And it might become a tv show!

has anyone watched jurassic world
I saw it on opening night. Fun movie. I didn't think Chris Pratt would be at all good for it; I have only ever liked him in comedies such as Parks and Recreation and Guardians of the Galaxy. He surprised me with Jurassic World though, he fit the role he was playing quite well in my opinion (I will still never accept him as an Indiana Jones though, as apparently he is being considered for a reboot of the series. He's cool... but he's just not cool enough).
That vampire lady babysitter whatever the hell her name is getting eaten by that hugeass water dinosaur was pretty funny. And of course the margaritas dude. "ULTRA HYBRID DINOSAUR ATTACK DEATH AND DESTRUCTION EVERYWHERE BUT I MUST SAVE MY MARGARITAS OR ALL IS LOST"
It also took me more than half the movie to realize that the fat guy who kept messing s*** up also played Kingpin in Daredevil. I knew he looked familiar but it took me a while for it to click.
I liked the movie. I know it wasn't really scientifically accurate (dinosaurs had feathers, yeah yeah, but who wants to watch a bunch of big birds pecking each other and crapping on helicopters and I dunno shush) but it was pretty entertaining. When I walked into the movie I was afraid that they wouldn't be able to replicate the quality of Jurassic Park, and that it would end up like the second and third movies. Luckily, they pumped out a pretty good film.
7/10 too much water

Watched Everest the other day. Solid 8/10 I'd say. Characterization was actually not bad. I did not want them to die. Though tbh the way doug died cracked me up. It was sad that he died but come on, really? Like that? I saw it in IMAX too which was cool, only thing that was unpleasant was that they cranked up the volume to like a million goddamn decibels and now I'm like deaf.
Exciting movie, and basically a huge summary of every single reason why I do not want to and will never want to climb Mount Everest.

I saw The Martian about a week ago. It was very cool. Basically it's about an astronaut who gets stranded on Mars and has to survive until he can be rescued. It had a lot of really funny parts. One that really cracked me up was when

There was a lot of CGI (a bit more than necessary in my opinion), and there was also a bit of language but who cares about that. Would definitely recommend seeing.

Mymop, are you really complaining about CGI in a science fiction movie taking place in outer space? Sounds like you're complaining about CGI just for the sake of complaining about CGI. I thought it was used quite well.

Have you guys ever heard of Kid Cannabis? It's a true story about a guy and some friends who smuggle LARGE quantities of Weed across the Canada/Idaho border and making a very large sum of money doing it, It's really good and I highly recommend it

No, I was not complaining about it. I simply mentioned that they didn't really need to use as much as they did.

Actual question: How else would they have done it? You can't use practical effects for everything, especially space stuff. Do you really expect Hollywood to partner with NASA and launch several actual spaceships to make a movie?
Also, saw the new Steve Jobs movie the other day. It was ok. It started out in the mid-1980s and talked about his relationships with his friends and acquaintances mostly and went until the mid-1990s, where it just sorta abruptly ended. I thought it was pretty good characterization but the ending was pretty sudden (I thought it was at least building up to something greater, but at the end he walked onstage to make a speech then didn't make a speech and just sorta stared at his daughter, it was weird). Maybe 6/10-7/10 overall. It wasn't bad exactly, but didn't focus on a lot of stuff it probably should have focused on or at least mentioned.

For the Martian landscape, they could have filmed it in Utah or someplace and edited the color of the ground and the mountains. But the CGI was good, I'm not complaining about it.
Also, for the last week in my social studies (history) class, we've been watching a movie about the Civil War called Glory. It was a good movie. Not a poorly-made documentary, but it was like, an actual movie. Anyways, it's about the 54th Massachusetts Regiment, the first Union Army regiment with colored soldiers. IRL, the regiment did exist, and all the enlisted men were black, but the officers were white. The main character is the unit's commanding officer, Robert Gould Shaw. It was based off of Shaw's letters to his parents. And, all of the main characters
Spoiler:
die.
IRL, Shaw and most of the officers, along with more than half the regiment, died.
Spoiler:''The plot''
It starts out at the Battle of Antietam. At this point, the regiment hasn't been formed yet, and Shaw is leading a group of soldiers into the battle. He is wounded in the attack, but survives. Then he goes back to his home in Boston, where his family (who is very rich and influential) is hosting a reception for him and some other soldiers. There, he is told that the regiment would be formed, and he is asked to command it. His black friend Thomas hears, and volunteers for service in the unit.
So then a bunch of people come and volunteer, and they go through training. At the end of the first month, when the soldiers get their pay checks, they are informed that since they aren't white, they will be paid 10 dollars a month instead of 13. They get angry, and rip their checks in protest. Shaw gets their attention by firing his gun in the air. He rips his own pay check in half, and the soldiers all cheer.
Once they've completed their training, the regiment is sent to South Carolina. As they sail across a river or something, a reporter talks to the officers, Major Forbes, Shaw's second-in-command and close friend, promotes one of the men to the rank of sergeant.
Then they are sent further south into Georgia, where Shaw's superior officer orders them to loot and then burn down a town. At first, Shaw refuses, but after the threat of being court-martialled he reluctantly obeys.
Shaw's regiment isn't sent into combat right away. Instead, they are used for manual labor. In one scene, a group of white soldiers walks past where the 54th is working. One of the 54th's soldiers nearly gets into a fight with one of the white soldiers, but Major Forbes comes along and breaks it up.
Then, Shaw and Forbes confront the officer who ordered Shaw's men to burn the town. They threaten to tell the War Department about the 34 burned mansions and villages if they are not allowed to go into action. They get permission to go into combat.
So they go into combat at (I think) James Island. The Confederate cavalry charge and then fall back. Then the rebel infantry come. The fighting was nothing like modern combat; the Confederates just marched up to the Union soldiers, who were also lined up, exchanged fire, and then they charged at each other. They way they fire is basically this; Shaw shouts, "Ready!" Then the soldiers shout "Ready!" Then Shaw shouts, "Aim!" The soldiers aim their rifles and shout, "Aim!" Then Shaw shouts, "Fire!" Then the soldiers fire, all at once, at the Confederates. Once they've fired, Shaw shouts, "Reload!" The men shout "Reload!" and reload their guns. That repeats for a while, and then Shaw shouts "Fire at will!" instead of just "Fire". Then the Confederates charge, and then Shaw shouts "Charge!" and they fight at close quarters, using their bayonets as well as firing their guns. The officers also use their swords and pistols. So then the Confederates retreat.
After that, Shaw and some other officers are on a beach, looking at Fort Wagner, a Confederate fort, while a general tells them about it. He says that the only way to take the fort is by frontal assault. Then Shaw says that his regiment would like the honor of leading the charge.
As the 54th is marching up to the fort, the other soldiers, waiting on the sides of the road, cheer for them. So then the 54th marches towards the fort, and then the Confederates start shooting at them, and so the Union soldiers start charging. Then, when they reach the wall of the fort, there's a big ditch with spikes on one side. So when they're in the ditch, the Confederates are just firing down on them like fish in a barrel. So then Shaw chrges out by himself and gets shot like 50 times and there's all this dramatic music and he dies. So then everyone else who's survived charges up and a lot of them die and they eventually break through. Then as they're going on to the next line of defense the Confederate cannons fire and blow them up.
TL;DR:
So basically the 54th regiment is trained and then they go and fight and they all

After all these years a new Star Wars movie finally came out... And on Sunday I was watching The Wrath of Khan instead. I've heard the new Star Wars is very good, but nothing will replace my love of the even-numbered original Star Trek movies (as the saying goes, the even-numbered Star Trek movies don't suck) and the original Star Trek TV series.
I'd have to agree with you there. Which character is your favourite? I'm pretty partial to Jar Jar Binks, he's probably my favourite captain in all of space.

I like Kirk, Spock, and Scotty from the the best. They're funny, cool, and don't make as many stupid mistakes as everyone else you see in TV shows and movies.
