SeppuKuties. A game with a team of cute little forrest critters trying to collect acorns. And most of who get slaughtered on the way there.
In my opinion, the best and most unique feature of SeppuKuties is the fact that levels don't reset upon death. It is possible for SeppuKuties to sacrifice themselves in order for their friends to finish the level.
And that is your task for this competition. Make a level in SeppuKuties that is based around sacrifices. Make them unique, make them tricky, make them bloody.

In honor of all those we lost on the way
This comp has already ended and has been judged.
Start Date: Monday, Nov 16, 2009
End Date: Sunday, Nov 29, 2009
Game: Only SeppuKuties content is allowed

Competition Rules:
You should know these rules by now. No old levels, no plagiarism.
The competition itself is pretty free in its rules. As long as sacrifices are implented in one way or the other, it is accepted.
Have fun!

Well, since we're getting almost no activity, basing a competition around an unpopular game on the site was not a good idea. If it was to get more people to play Seppukitties, you should probably have waited until we had more activity and people had more spare time to do this. Oh well.

That doesn't help. People have been given two weeks for this, while making a level should take less than 15 minutes. If people actually wanted to try this game out, they would have entered by now. But for some reason, nobody wants to.
We might as well go back to a pure HatPC fansite, as nobody is willing to try anything else anyway.

Lol, I've been trying to figure out the level maker since yesterday and it's really starting to agrivate me. So finally I'm gonna ask,  is there any way to make only certain blocks of terrain sloped?

Found out how, but overall I don't see this editor offering anything to me. There are two possible reasons why and I have not decided which one is right: A. The level editor actually is quite limited and offers few possibilities in a small area. Or B. I'm am not intellectually capable enough to make a decent level in the editor. Probably a bit of both, but I don't plan on entering. I like the game (I beat it), but I don't see any cool levels coming out of the editor from me.

Lol, after posting this I'll probably get some awesome idea for a level and completely contradict this post, but for now I give up.

yeah the level editor is kind of weird to get used to, but I didn't have too much trouble with it.

I blame this game's presentation for turning people off.

Yeah, they've been given two weeks, the entire duration of which we've been ridiculously inactive. When all of the HatPC levels that have been released recently have received little attention because of this, what's to suggest that a far less popular game would fare any better?

And it's worth remembering that HatPC is the most popular game on the site because it is easily the best one here. Reverting to a HatPC fansite right now (the competitions, anyway) isn't a bad idea, since everybody is too busy with school to be active and are far more likely to participate in what they are familiar with than embracing something new.

Alternatively, we can just put competitions on hold until the winter holidays come around.

stopping the competitions will only make us more inactive. The only way to fix this inactivity is to get new members.

And I guess we should only create comps for stuff when there's a lot of levels being made for that game currently.

I agree with a temporary stop on competitions too. It is too much effort when nobody bothers to try anyway.

then in that case, we're gonna need to shift our attention to other things that will bring about activity.

Since I don't have school today or tomorrow b/c of Thanksgiving, I'm gonna try to finish the guides system before the end of the weekend (but I won't get to work on it today b/c it's Thanksgiving...). But once I get that out of the way, I could focus on the next project...

We could continue to fix up some parts of the site, such as the video archive or the game system, but I guess what it boils down to is that people come here to play and make levels, so we should probably now focus more on levels than on those other parts of the site. In fact, I'd really like to try out that directory idea....

Comps are one of the few reasons to make levels. If we take that away, the only reasons that're left is personal enjoyment (not that significant) and making other people enjoy it. If the Interguild is so inactive, who's here to enjoy the levels? Perhaps make some sort of level of the week thing to motivate level income?

I think that for now, we should limit ourselves to HatPC comps seeing as we enjoy that game the most and it has the most levels/activity.

yeah that's why I think removing comps will only make us more inactive.

But I guess the biggest thing is just that we need more people. And I guess to do that, we not only need to advertise more, but we'll need to also really impress them with content for the games that they are interested in, somehow (actually this is why I really like my directory idea ). Also, we really have a great amount of cool stuff only for HATPC. We don't even have that many non-HATPC guides or videos or even levels, and not many people in the world even know HATPC exists so we can't simply rely on HATPC for the Interguilds activity, unless you want to go around and advertise that people play a neopets game

And I know this has been mentioned before, but advertising a website mainly focused around a game on Neopets doesn't attract the most stablely-behaved members. (Not naming any names )

and we also can't advertise the Interguild as a general multi-game level-making community either because it's too much of an abstract idea to compel people to come in and check us out. Maybe instead we ought to advertise ourselves for each individual game and attract each of those individual audiences separately. This is another reason why I like the directory idea because then we could literally boast to hold the biggest collection of game X user levels (while pruning out the bad spam levels).

Another way to attract members from each different game is to increase the amount of stuff in our guides system so that we can be recognized more by google searches.

We could try to attract members by setting up mock questions on sites like Wiki Answers, Yahoo Answers or Neoboards (having a member of the interguild ask the question and having another member answer it by providing a link to the website or guild etc.) People will actually listen to recommendations of other people. Like if for example I go on Yahoo Answers and ask:

Where can I find a good website for (insert game) or multiple games?

Another member could answer the question by offering a link to the Interguild and a little explanation about it. I could vote it the best answer and it'd appear at the top of the page.

Manipulation of society is stretching it a little though, but it'd be interesting to try out.

I think one of the problems is that lots of the games we have get boring really quickly. The only games I think that I would play for a long time are HATPC and Knytt stories and that's because you can be quite creative with the levels and the levels can actually be bigger than one screen size. Some others are okay but there isn't as many different things you can do with them, for example that planet one (forgotten its name) is always going to be pretty much the same.

Upcoming HatPC level: Sanctuary, coming soon to an internet browser near you...

I think that was called gravitee 2...

I guess my other favorite games here would be FR2 and N. But they are too popular on other sites for us to have any real audience here..

I already started a judge topic for this and I gave my suggestion, but no other judge has replied yet.
