I forgot to get this posted early so that it would be on time. I was literally just sitting around doing nothing when I had the sudden realization that I had to get this done, and when I looked at the time it was exactly 12:00 am Interguild time. Lol, it's like in GF4's comic how I can sense when something's wrong at the Interguild.

This Week's New Rounds:

IO 2011 Pentathlon Round 2 - Jellsprout Imitation
Duration: One Week: Friday, July 8th --- Friday, July 15th
Rules: Tuesday, July 12th is the 10th anniversary of jellsprout's neopets account. For the 10th anniversary of jell, you must make a level inspired by his style, similar to the CSD comp. Even though jell won't be here to witness this round, try to make him proud as he might help judge this round when he returns.

IO 2011 - Speedrun Video
Duration: Two Weeks: Friday, July 8th --- Friday, July 22nd
Rules: Do a speedrun of anything, whether it's of a level, or of making a level, or doing something else related to a game or the Interguild. You will be judged on two factors: entertainment and speed. Entertainment would probably be most important, but you should still legitimately be trying to do something quickly. We were originally planning to have this be a pentathlon round, but seriously, some people might need more than just a week, unless we want them to speedrun through the video-making process as well.

IO 2011 - HATPC Portrait
Duration: Three Weeks: Friday, July 8th --- Friday, July 29th
Rules: Simple. Make a HATPC level with a preview map that looks like something. Unlike Jebby's Portrait, your level should actually be a level. Think more along the lines of Quirvy's Metal Meepit. This round just happens to end on the same day as the Team Collab round.

Other Rounds Running Through this Week:
See Week One for more details on the following.

IO 2011 - Make a Puzzle
One week left: Ends on Friday, July 15th
Three entries so far, but we still haven't seen an entry from TEAM Canadianstickdeath, Dekudude, GF4, Krotomo, & Yuggy.

IO 2011 - Minecraft Monument
Two weeks left: Ends on Friday, July 22nd
Absolutely no entries yet, but I can tell you that my team has already begun our entry.

IO 2011 - Team Collab
Three weeks left: Ends on Friday, July 29th
Of course no one has entered this yet.

Rounds Ending Today:
(these rounds close today, on Friday the 23rd at 11:59pm EST)

IO 2011 Pentathlon Round 1 - Hypocritical "Try Something New"

I'm still planning to make a level for this pentathlon round, but I've been so busy with these minecraft videos...

Pretend I'm stupid (well, I am in this situation); is there a difference between a walkthrough and a speedrun?

speedrun is as fast as possible. so like maybe a normal wt of a smf level might be 3 mins. but going through everything as fast as possible might be 1 min.

Does the Jellsprout level need to be HatPC?

So uh, is this fast? I'm not entirely sure what to do for this comp. I don't really know how to make it entertaining other than doing it fast, lol. Should I redo and go faster? In this run I got the slow Pawkeet (if he goes the other way at the start, I get there just in time to jump over him without slowing down hardly at all) and a number of the maneuvers could have been a little tighter. Or should I just do something else altogether?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2os9Lq6UOvo

Also, if I get the fast Pawkeet, there's a chance I get the slow Mirgle, where he's blocking the treasure and you can't just jump straight over, so you give the boulder a push while you wait... I don't get to the skull often enough to know whether or not there's a fast and slow skull, lol, but if there is, I'm pretty sure I got the slow one. Kinda annoying all the luck elements. 3 enemies, and 3 corner jumps. This was the first time I got all the corner jumps on the first try without screwing something up besides.

no that's pretty cool. I found it entertaining seeing how you were able to shave so many milliseconds from that level.

It'd be nice to get the fast Pawkeet though. I lose a lot of time waiting for that thing. When I get the fast one, I do this really tightly-timed jump in order to get over it right away.

The biggest improvement from the normal way you'd to this comes from the 2nd corner jump. Normally you have to wait for the water to get out of that pit. When I noticed that, that's when I decided to try this level.

It's okay, but I think you could have made that quicker. I could cut some more time in 0:09, 0:26, 0:29. it's all about jumping through terrain corners and stuff. but other than that, it was great, and quick indeed!

so does anyone think that minecraft video I posted yesterday would qualify for the speedrun category? Sure I may not have been trying to do stuff quickly (it was actually done super slowly), but the fact that the clips were played at 1000% speed might balance that out. And not to mention the last clip of the NER really was my fastest attempt to traverse the whole thing (without hacks) since I had to keep myself going perfectly straight.

lol, actually I'm trying to avoid minecraft things till I have time to understand what it is. so i haven't watched any vid nor seen any level.

I just recorded deku's game, start to the end, including all my deaths and stuff. I'll try to make it entertaining, and of course fast forward most of the deaths. took me 40 minutes of hardcore

but I had quantum mechanics test today, and i'm pretty sure i'm getting 85-95, but i'm good at that so i might be going to the second exam date as well to improve. anyways, I have optics on sunday, so i hope i can manage stuff.

You can't save time at 0:09 (I assume you mean that I could have corner boosted more, or something, lol, maybe if it were possible to TAS it) because no matter how fast you go you still have to wait for the boulders.

The biggest time-waste (feels like 2 seconds at least) is where I have to wait for the Pawkeet. Stupid RNG.

I just did all of HATPC in 19:19.09 (I used a fancy timer), but I can't upload it to my channel 'cause it's too long. I didn't do the tutorials, BTW -- the game has level 1 unlocked from the start, so I skipped the tutorials as doing them would be slower than not doing them, lol. They're also really annoying, and the message boxes are a pain as they sometimes dismiss quickly and they sometimes don't.

I didn't die, so that's good, and nothing was obnoxiously slow, but I'd like to go through each of the levels and find the time-savers like I did with level 8, and hopefully cut at least the 19.
