This year instead of the Interguild Olympics, we have decided to try something completely new for our summer event: The Interguild League

What is the Interguild League?
The Interguild League works like any sports league. All the entrants are divided into an even number of teams. Then every week, each team must play against one of the other teams. Both teams make one level. If your team has made the better level you get 3 points, if both levels are equal in quality both teams get 1 point, if your team has made the worse level you get no points.
Every team plays against every team twice, one Home game and one Away game. Once all the matches are played, all the points are tallied and a winner is decided!

That is neat! So for what games do we have to play the levels?
This is what separates the Interguild League from other similar competitions. What happens is that every team gets to choose one game as their "Home" game. Every time this team plays a Home game, both teams will have to make a level in this game. So choose your game wisely! If you pick a game which your players are far more experienced in than the other teams, you can score easy points. But you should also remember that you have to make a level for your game once every 2 weeks. So if you pick a game with little possible creativity, you will soon find yourself in a writer's block.
It should also be noted that the schedule will be decided from the very start of the League. So you will know in advance exactly when you will need to submit a level for each game. This allows you to work ahead. It also allows you to put more effort in one round than another, so you can forfeit one match to be assured you win another. And because you are a team instead of just a single player, instead of collaborating on each level you can also decide to assign one player to each game and have them make the level by themselves.

How will the winner for each match be decided?
Every game will have two judges assigned. Both judges need to decide which level of the two they thought was the better one. If both judges agree on one level, that level wins, if the two judges both pick a different level, the match is tied. To keep the pace high, we will require the judges to judge each match in one weekend. Because this is merely a comparison between two levels, this shouldn't be too difficult.

Awesome! How do I sign up?
By posting right here in this thread. You can sign up here as a player or as a judge. The sign-ups will last until July 20th. The teams will then be assigned, each team will be given their own board to discuss things and the actual League will start August 4th.

If you have any more questions, ask them here.

It had been decided about a month ago that we would be doing something different from the IO this year and we settled on the League about halfway through June.
So when the "You have one post to stop IO 2013 from happening" round was started, I had actually already stopped it 2 weeks before. So yes, that was a funny round for me.

Woah! No IO for 2013, that's just sad because it's a tradition in the website and I'm excited to join it since the previous IO was not that excellent for me and not knowing the rules.

Instead, I'll join this but I don't have a Minecraft. How will the teams be divided? How many players should join before it starts? What theme should we follow or is it freestyle? Is it a hindrance without having Minecraft? It's not summer on me though, it's school time.

I would suggest having a theme for orderliness because they might be a great difference in each team's level but if this factor makes it a lot different from IO then don't change it. Last, is their a great possibility that HATPC would be the Home Game in some of the teams?

So all the levels the teams have made is a collaboration?

It's good to be back.

The sign-up is open until July 20th. After that the teams will be decided. It is not entirely certain yet how they will be divided. In any case we will first need to see how many people will sign up.

Take no offense to this, but I don't know if it would be a good idea to have such a new, inexperienced member be at such a high-power position in determining the outcome of these games. I think we've typically had more trusted members be judges in the past.

And from what I understand, we only need 2 judges, correct?

If need be, I can be a judge, but I sense that some members who are too lazy to participate but too active to miss out will be judges. Because that's totally why I would be a judge. Otherwise I guess I'll just join as a normal player, but don't expect me to be a big leader guy for my team, when it comes to putting the teams together.

So wait... each team makes one level? I'm assuming this would then be a collaboration for each level.

Each team makes one single level for each match. So the team can decide to do a collaboration for each level or they can decide to split all the members up between the various matches, so each match will have one level made by a single person.

How many matches are there planned to be? Or is that all based on the number of signed up members?

That is based on the number of sign-upped members. I'm currently planning about 4 teams, which means there will be 6 matches for each team.

Also, if we are going to use Line Rider, leave it to me, and me only.
