I think this is the only way to use the music we can't use on youtube and websites like that.

if we try to get around Youtube's deleting, won't that get us in trouble with the government? >_> that is, if you live in certain countries that have strong copyright laws. i don't want to have to pay off crazy fines...

I'm sure there are sites that have songs from the public domain, which means they are free to use.

Lol, yeah, but all those songs are pre-1922. Nice try though.

I think that music up for download at sites such as Last.fm could be free for use.

lol, those are the classics....

if the song is current, then it's probably not free to use. songs created after 1969 or something have copyrights that expire 70 years after the author's death. songs before then have copyrights that expire 50 yrs after death. so they only songs we can use are ones that are really old (not old; classic ) or songs that the author has already placed in the public domain.

or we could become musicians and make our own songs. like the one csd used in this vid:

That's what I meant. If it is up on last.fm, it is because it's free to download due to the request of the original musician.

Also, music currently up on Youtube should be okay to use

no, not Youtube songs. that would be duplicating the copyright infringements.

is last.fm really free and legal? and I also heard that sites that hand out "free" music also hand out computer viruses. my sister got one the other day, and now my dad has to do something with that computer. good thing that was the old computer.

His Mario music probably wasn't legal.

Last.fm is indeed free and legal. It's also famous all over the world by now, so you won't have to worry.

As long as we give credit I think we might use this one though: http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/music/music11.html It rocks.

I think game music is copyrighted.

Edit: Talking about game music
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hwmTkr2bww - Open Your Heart from Sonic Adventure
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9zZus_1_ag - Live and Learn from Sonic Adventure 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--BFU1mLn4s - His World from Sonic the Hedgehod '06
All three are also in Brawl.

All copyrights for this song are held by Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd.
doesn't look like we can use it. remember, just b/c credit was given, it doesn't mean that it's suddenly legal.

If you find a really long song, and then take only 10% of it, then that IS legal. I believe mystic's Mezanine Trailer uses that song legally.

they buy the songs, then they put the songs in a video, then they upload it to youtube. it's simple. but then it's Youtube's job to hunt these illegal videos and delete them. I wonder if people are being fined thousands of dollars...

I composed a almost impossible piano song once. If you really want it, I can get it. And I can also play piano songs and record them.

hey. it might not be a bad idea to start making our own music. If we get good at it, that means we can add music to Aeon.
