Welcome to 2010! I know this is a day late, but the staff planned to post a look back at the previous year of 2009.

January: In January, interguild.org had only just opened about 2 or 3 weeks before. Many of us were still uploading levels from the old forums into the new database (which was called the "Level Galleries" at the time). We had the first competition of the new Interguild with the theme "Innovation", and it was a great success with 11 entrants. It was also in this comp that I was accused of unintentional bias when judging and it became a kind of running joke for the rest of the year. This may have also been the time of the emergence of the facepalm and 69 smileys. Also, very early in January, CSD releases his CaveMaker!

February: We had two competitions in February: the Parody comp and the 16:9 comp. And a real level ratings system was finally added to the level galleries, whereas before we had a super-quick praise system identical to the one in the CaveList. Also added to the level galleries were automatic forum topics for every level, and a terrible level galleries search page. It was also in February that I started adding a lot of mod powers, including the censor list, which we kinda abused repeatedly to make cool stuff. Quirvy blew up the site a lot of times by making censors that resulted in repeated php errors, and I remember I made my title in the chat box "[Click for Money!]". I don't remember much, but I think it brought you to a page with a giant 69 smiley and at one point it recorded a list of everyone who clicked the link.

March: User profiles got a huge revamp (it was really hideous and empty before). I also made the Uploader Glitch Scanner, which was very useful. We also use to have this automatic avatar-resizer that really stopped avatars from stretching the page. We got rid of this feature in March, which made the site much, much faster, and mods started cracking down on people with large avatars. It was also at this time when I changed my username from "Acceleron_3000" to "Livio". We had two comps: the linear comp (which led to jell making Genesis) and the Monster Comp.

April: April started with the craziest April Fool's Day ever. There was a crudely-made {fuchsia and green layout change (based on the joke that those were the two most annoying colors to use together), and there were multiple dancing Rick-Rolls on every page (thanks to the chatbox). It was also in April that we added the custom name and title options for the chatbox. And the Interguild started to accept games other than HATPC. We had a nature-themed comp for some reason, and we also had the first Platformers Comp.

May: We held our first All-Game Comp, which was a pretty good comp. Quirvy got very publicly pwned, when I added a refresh button to the Recent Posts box. I also made a "DISASTROUS TEST", which really wasn't as bad as it sounds. The Karma System was also finally released in May. It was also on May 31st that started some of the stuff I'm about to mention next:

June: I went on vacation, so dando52 (not to be confused with Dando) takes over, mandates that everyone have bunny avatars, and demands to be referred to as Overlord. Also in June, intertester (an account that I use for testing stuff) has his name changed to "interbot" (he is currently called Sir Bam the 4th, and it is unclear exactly when this happened). We held Random Word Comp 2, and the first Weekly Update was made. CSD's dignity was held hostage by terrorists, and the CaveList got a massive, much-needed rebuild. The Interguild Olympics idea was first mentioned to the public. There was also some reform in the staff, where we decided to end all mod-power abuse, delete unnecessary joke censors (but we officialized some of the best and most useful ones). CSD made CAVEBOT V2

July: The Interguild Olympics (IO) were held across the month, and it was really cool. This was also when I released the current default layout color scheme. I also added the Google Custom Search, which I said "will become more accurate as we use it." Lol, so much for that... Name changing became un-popular when Quirvy changed his name to "O_o", and later Georgia. Egruntz changed his name to Florida, presumably because he was trying to hide from the law. I also upgraded the CaveList again to track much more information, but the biggest new feature was the HATPC Map Generator, which was orignally made for the CaveList in my efforts to make the CaveList better than Teh Marz's Cave Search. There was a movement to add Karma to the chatbox and to news posts, and I almost added it too, but neither happened because we decided that it was better this way. There was also increasing public demand for viewable Karma Rankings, so Quirvy and I made this page as a joke. But eventually karma rankings and other rankings were added to the bottom of the Forum Index. The Level Galleries are renamed as the "Level Database" and they get a great rebuild that make browsing levels much easier.

August: The Interguild Olympics end, and judging begins. Quirvy (known as Georgia at the time) changes his name to Midnight, which causes a new debate about exactly how bad it is to change names. But in the end, Quirvy's name returns to normal. Red Remover became a pretty popular game around this time. The "Spoiler" BBCode tags were added to the forums. Difficulty ratings and the favorites system were added to the Level Database. Overall, tons of levels were uploaded in this month. Also, I released the first work-in-progress pictures of Aeon.

September: Interguild Olympics results were finally released, with Harumbai, Ckjr and DaBigKid as the major winners. Isa suspended himself in an attempt to get himself to focus more on his schoolwork, but he ended up using most of his time begging to get himself un-suspended. Lol. There was a slight upgrade in the layout (to what you see today). We held a Miniature Comp and the first N Comp. The Interguild itself turns three years old, even though the website is only about a year old right now. Lol, we also had a pretty unsuccessful Unicycle Comp (FR2).

October: By this time, the Interguild was less active as everyone now had to deal with school. We held our first Video Comp (aside from the video categories in the IO). We also held a Balloon Comp (FR2). The biggest event of the month was probably when I released a very early Aeon Demo so that we could figure out the exact perfect settings for character movements. It was also at this time that the weekly updates began to die out. We also held the second All-Game Comp, with the theme of "No Terrain".

November: We held a Reborn Comp (HATPC), where the idea was to remake someone else's cave. Jell also started an SK comp to try to get more people interested in the game, but only two entries were submitted. We also had a DDA Comp, but no one joined that, but it did lead to the most sarcastic news post yet, as Isa called it. Overall, November was really slow here, and we blamed school. To the site, I added little things like the Header Posts in forum topics, and the quick browsing buttons in the level database. I also brought back the Weekly Updates, which we seemed to have forgotten about. Also in November, the staff began talking about the Best of 2009 Awards and accumulating possible nominees.

December: After the horrible comp failures of November, we held the The Bad Cave Comp, which turned out to be the most fun competition in a while, even if it did last for only three days. Quirvy, with my help, set up the whole Neezle's thing, where a_neezles_a breaks the online time record by being online for 50.5 hours, but is banned for bad grammar. A comp is held in Neezle's honor, but it wasn't as popular as the previous competition. The staff also let the public start submitting their suggestions for possible Best of 2009 nominees. The nominees should be released for public voting sometime this week. Also the video-montage comp began, and it's still running. So far only Isa has joined. I'm still working on my video, and I heard teo_pl was gonna join.

What will 2010 be like? I have a lot of plans for 2010. Right now I'm working on a new layout that will basically redefine "interguild.org" in an attempt to increase the site's popularity and usefulness. Along with that will come some much needed upgrades to some of our sites features, such as the guides system, the game pages, and the comp pages. Also in 2010, I'll try to make more progress in Aeon, maybe to point of a final release?? I'll also be going to college next Fall, which means that I may have less time to come here, so I'll have to try to get all of my larger projects on this site finished before then.

This is great, but more importantly we should be looking forward to 2010. I hope a lot is achieved progress-wise this year.

Wow.  Everything seemed as if it happened yesterday.  And yet 2010 will go by even faster.
