Welcome to the Interguild! We are a unique community that provides fan services for basically any game that is submitted into our system. We take any game focused on some form of user-made content and provide services that help our members share their creations, videos, guides, etc. We periodically hold competitions for these games too. The idea is to help games reach their full potential by helping fan communities to grow around them. 5 Comments | | | First, a summary of what happened this week: Highlights of the Week Saturday: Bmwsu started a Free Rider 2 mini-comp in the forums where you had to make a level inside a box that he drew. Three people, including me, made tracks for it, and it was pretty cool. Click here to see it.
Monday: Articles now have commenting in the same way that the level galleries and other parts of the site do. This feature has proven to be very helpful to how much attention is payed to our article system. We spent a lot of time this week writing articles.
Tuesday: Jell starts a new forum board so that judges can discuss the competitions that they're judging in order to reach a closer consensus when sending in their results. So far only people who are judges have permissions to the board, except for my account, which has access to everything on this site. Anyway, that's one step closer to a better judging system, so now all I have to do is make the judging page more intuitive.
Tuesday: N and Free Rider 2 have been turned into Chosen Games.
Wednesday: There's a new option in the video archive where you can submit the replay codes from N as if they were videos, and since it's release, it has continued to be the least useful feature on the site.
Thursday: Both Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett died. There's no way you could've missed that.
Friday: A new game has been submitted into our system: Karoshi 2.0, which is a somewhat violent game where the goal of each level is to find a way to kill yourself.
Sometime this week: Intertester's name has been changed to Interbot. Articles There's been a lot of updates in the article system this week, thanks to the new commenting feature.
Monday: The How to Make a Video has been updated with info about Youtube's copyright deletions.
Monday: Jell posts a new article called: History of the Raters Guild.
Tuesday: Jell makes a List of HATPC Glitches.
Tuesday-Wednesday: CSD and Jell make an article about Beginning HATPC.
Wednesday: I posted a new article about the history of the The Pirate Caves CaveMakers Association (PCCA).Levels Thirteen new levels this week:
Catta made the first level of the week with screwedlevel for HatPC.
I made a Free Rider 2 level for Bmw's mini-comp: Puzzle Box for Free Rider 2. It's pretty cool even though it came last place in Bmw's mini-comp.
Sinpokman later released his self-proclaimed greatest cave, No Title for HATPC. I thought it was kinda frustrating sometimes, but it's pretty good. He also entered this cave into the Random Word comp?
Isa made a really cool DDA (don't-do-anything) level in N called Achieving Nirvana. Right now it has a rating of 9.7, so that's proof of how cool it is.
Krotomo also released his Random Word Comp entry with his HATPC level Plasma.
Ckjr actually made two entries for Bmw's Free Rider 2 mini-comp. The first was Geometry World, but that was ruined by a glitch caused when using the "???" vehicle. So he then made Geometry World II, which uses the truck instead. Both levels have a really cool look to them, and Geometry World II is a really good level, too. It beat Jell's entry in Bmw's mini-comp by one point, apparently.
Semiloop stadium is jellsprout's entry for the mini-comp, and it's some kind of hardcore Free Rider track.
Bike Park is another Free Rider 2 level by Ckjr, which features 9 out of 10 stars within possible reach and a tenth star nowhere to be found. 0_o
Potpourri is Jazz's entry to the Random Word comp. I haven't gotten the chance to try it, but shos rated it an 8, and coming from shos, it must be pretty good.
Sinpokman also made two HATPC levels today that I didn't get to try yet: Little Space and Little Space II. From what I can see through the level code, it looks pretty cool, so you guys should try these out.
Another level made today is by Ckjr for Free Rider 2 and it's called Slackin' 2 in Free Rider 2. It's a DDA and the sequel to his first epic attempt to make a Slackin level in FR2. I just ran it right now, and it looks awesome. Videos We had six new videos released this week:
On Saturday, I released my Triple Walkthrough in Free Rider 2, which shows me beating my first three FR2 levels: Weird Short Track, Into the Vortex, and Into the Abyss. I thought it was a cool vid, but I went through a lot of work just trying to get the video to upload right.
Krotomo made a cool video called Levels of Hannah and the Ice Caves. Right now it looks like I was the only one who watched it. And I gave it a 4-star rating, to show how cool I thought it was.
Still on Saturday, Quirvy released his walkthrough for Soul of Death and The Descent. It's a pretty cool walkthrough, even if some people said that they got bored by watching the Descent part.
Dando released two videos on Wednesday: the walkthrough for her latest cave There And Back Again, which is a really great walkthrough currently holding a full 5-star rating. She also made her own walkthrough for Quirvy's cave Canadianstick..., and it's really cool to watch.
Finally, today Isa released the first part of his N starter's guide with a video that covers the very very basics of the game: Basic N Instructions.Future Stuff The HATPC Random Word Comp 2 will end tomorrow night, and so far we only have 4 entries. I wonder if Shos is still making that cave... Also, I'm working on a new look for the Interguild along with a possible logo for the site. And, as of tomorrow, the Interguild Olympics will be one week away. Get ready for that too. | | post a comment >> |
| New Chosen Games | 4:38 pm - Tuesday, June 23 2009
Livio
11 Comments | | Two new games have just been made Chosen! They are N and Free Rider 2.
These are the first games other than HATPC to have reached the status of Chosen on this site. If you go to the forums, you'll see that there are a few more boards for these games, and now it's possible to have one-game competitions with these games. This also means that there will be more effort put into making things on the site for these games.
Also, yesterday I added forum topics to the article system, so this should now be easier to keep the articles updated. We're working on getting more articles up for these games, and if you want to help, you can either submit a new article for approval, or you can simply suggest information for articles if we ever miss any. | | post a comment >> |
| Weekly Update for June 20th | 2:39 pm - Saturday, June 20 2009
Livio
12 Comments | | This weekly update is a new thing that we're trying in order to help keep members informed in all the stuff that's going on. There will be a new update every Friday, and it'll include a variety of information that should pretty much give you a summary of things that happened throughout the week.
Highlights of the Week
Sunday: The HATPC Comp is started a day late, with the theme of "Random Word Comp 2"
Sunday: The official release of the revamped CaveList, which currently has 2635 names in it and is also the new Cave Grabber.
Sunday, June 14 2009, 9:36 pm EST: CSD's dignity was held hostage by terrorists, who in exchange demanded that Quirvy's secret caving account be un-blocked from the cavelist.
Monday: The Interguild tries to settle the issue democratically. The poll in that topic was originally a standoff between Quirvy, CSD, and Quirvy (yes he was on there twice, to even it out), and even though there were edits in the poll, the final result was 57% for CSD (or the terrorists) and 43% for Quirvy.
Monday: The terrorists demands were met when CSD cheated the name into the cavelist by using a glitch (now fixed). It was at this moment that Quirvy declared war against CSD and I. Quirvy began to "Americanize" CSD and "McCain-inize" me, while CSD launched a public awareness campaign to spread the word about Quirvy's secret cave account. As my counterattack, I permanently unblocked the account from the cavelist. It's still in there somewhere.......
Monday-Tuesday: An amazing breakthrough was made with the cavebot! I successfully made my cavebot run 100 threads at once, and after leaving it overnight, it was able to finish the entire range of Jaaaa -- J____ overnight!
Tuesday: A new member joins, called Buheanie. He starts posting questions about how to post his levels, but then he leaves forever at frustration. This case raises chilling questions about the site's ease of use, and it's further fueled when Shos asks a seemingly stupid question sometime afterward. Or maybe "they just need glasses", as I put it...
Wednesday: Results for All-Game Comp are finally released.
Wednesday-Thursday-Friday I attempt to play the competition entries for the All-Game comp, especially CSD's A Moment in Time - Level 3 .
Friday: My cavebot ran overnight and it found 69 new names for the cavelist. 0_o
Friday: It seems that discussion for the Interguild Olympics (to be started in July) have just about finished.
Friday Night: Staff is simplified to only one position. With that, shos and Jebby are kicked out of the staff for lack of necessity. Despite that Haily is still in there. But my suggestion to remove him may have been the cause to Haily's spontaneous appearance earlier today. This marked the end of the Mod-Power Abuse Era
Today: My karma is finally up to 0! Mean while, CSD's is almost up to twenty.
Latest Levels
So according to the level galleries there were 8 levels released last week, but I'll try and keep this section short....
Anyway last Sunday, Ckjr released his epic Slackin' in Free rider 2.
Also on the same day, Isa released Claustrophobia as an N level. It looks like I'm the only one who played it so far, and it looks really cool. It kinda reminds me of Blocks of Doom. I would've rated it, but I could only get to the third block without giving up. Anyway, if you haven't tried it, it really is worth a try.
Yaya also released his latest HATPC level Code Red, and so far this cave hasn't gotten many comments yet. I guess people think it's too hard, but he tells you how to beat the first room here: Yaya said: After you hit the up arrow, run over to the stack of metal crates on top of wooden crates. Break the crates so the arrow goes through the falling pile of crates. Now push that boulder so it's ontop of the platform from the start and a wait for a arrow to fall on it. Shoot the arrow and it should make boulders fall from the ceiling there should be 1 boulder avalible to push. Crush the spike to the right of you with it and move on. Anyway, this cave looks really cool. Quirvy has started a campaign to get people to rate it because of how cool it is, but of course he won't rate it because he hasn't gotten far enough. On Tuesday, Quirvy put up a fixed version of his old cave Soul of Death, and on Wednesday, Dando released her latest HATPC cave There And Back Again. The amazing part about it is that Quirvy was actually able to beat it. And in six tries! Anyway it's really cool, and not that hard, so don't be so intimidated to try it.
And just yesterday, Quirvy released his competition entry for the Random Word Comp 2. For his word, he chose "canadianstick..." and the cave he made looks amazing (too bad HATPC won't show the whole map) and so far both CSD and Dando have rated it a 9.4
Videos
Only one video this week, and it's Quirvy's Guess the Cave! It's a pretty short parody of other Guess-the-Caves, and it's actually funny, even if it has no music.
Last night I tried to upload my latest video to Youtube. It was taking 5 hours so I left it running last night, but it got an error at the last second and failed, of course. But I have a plan B...
Some Plans
Like I said earlier, discussion for the Interguild Olympics are practically done. As of now it seems like it'll start on July 4th and maybe last around 7 weeks. But none of this is official yet. You can go to the discussion topic by clicking here, though.
Earlier this week, I also set up the site to work with video comps now. So expect us to have our first video competition during the Interguild Olympics.
I'm also currently adding something to our game system that will mark games that are offensive for younger audiences, and this feature will work with your account to help you set up settings on whether or not you want to block or warn you about games that are offensive.
Anyway, that's it for this week's update. It's pretty huge. | | post a comment >> |
