Once upon a time...

...in a very distant land(well actually, it's not so distant, and we know exactly when that was), the Egyptian Pharaoh Ka ruled over the Egyptian empire. He was sitting in his temple in Thinis, eating a well-served piece of cooked meat his subjects supplied him, sipping a tad of cold water to fresh his throat.

He has just heard that his forces conquered a large portion of Egypt by now. His people were praising him; he was even better thought of than his predecessor, Iry-Hor. "Well, I am a God," he thought to himself; "so nothing is supposed to be able to live against my will". He kept eating there, gazing upon his mighty kingdom. The meat he was eating was quite fat, so he had some hard time chewing. "Call the cook", he ordered.

The subjects brought the cook to him immidiately. The man wasn't slim, and while he bowed to his God Ka, his muscles started aching, and he started shaking, very mildly. Ka rose up from his chair, and faced the guard nearby. "Your sword." he said. The guard immidiately shook his sword from its handle, and handed it to the Godlike king.

*fllinggg*..
"Clean this mess immidiately and get another cook." said Ka, while sitting back in hsi chair, completely ignoring the blood on his floor, and the cut-off head - with empty eyes - that are watching him, from just a foot away.

"Is my Tomb built yet?"
~~~
Theme of the competition: Ancient Egypt
King Ka, one of the first Pharaohs in the dynasty of ancient egypt, has ruled in the 31st century before Christ. He was considered a better King than his father, and his successor is a mystery. He was buried in a tomb in Umm el-Qa'ab.
Ancient Egypt. That is your theme. Be creative, imaginative and original. Invest time in your level, and add a story to it.
How to submit your entries:
First of all, make your level, add it to the database as usual. Then, in the level's thread, you should post, either in a spoiler in the level's description or in a post, up to 15 pictures of your choice, featuring your level. You can do it in daylight or at night, from inside or outside, whatever you wish - but 15 pictures max.
You may also submit a 6-minutes long video featuring your level.
• Note: Credits and titles are not included in the 6-minutes.
The story with which your level should come with can be anything at all you can think of, as long as it is relevant to the theme. You can write it in the level description, or, if you choose to, you can actually tell the story with the background music to your video. (Do NOT get muted if you do that!!)
Ancient Egypt
This comp has already ended and has been judged.
Start Date: Friday, Jun 8, 2012
End Date: Sunday, Jul 15, 2012
Game: Only Minecraft content is allowed
Competition Rules:
• In order to participate you need to build something in Minecraft in one of our servers.
• Your entry can be made of anything, and in any size; however, the theme is Ancient Egypt, so you should try and use stone, dirt, sand, etc as the main properties of your design.
• Be advised, building things that are very likely not to have been possible to be built in ancient Egypt's time may deduce points for the theme-matching.
Final Results:
1st: Tas (Minecraft) - FlashMarsh, Yuggy, Typho
The dates should have been in 3100BC, but livio's mechanism here doesn't support that oh well. Good luck.
I'll record a video when it's done, and we can talk through it as we go on Skype. It will probably take longer than a minute though.
Because this is an Interguild competition, and what good is the competition if people just go to some other server and build?  This encourages people to go onto the server, which is essentially an extension of the Interguild.
I think it should be on the InterServer, for reasons stated.  Also, I disapprove of the small video limit.  I'm not saying that we should allow videos the length of the server tours, but I think that something more like 10 minutes is more reasonable.  Not everybody would need that much time, but you don't want to restrict the people that do.
You expect me to build on a server which you took away pretty much all f my privileges on, instead of one I own?
Yes, they expect you to build on the server that the completion is actually 'running' on.
Actions have consequences, and that's why they were taken away.  If you want to have something, then you'll have to work for it.  WE is a privilege, not a right, and you can do just fine without it.
This is an Interguild event.  This competition is for people to use what has been provided to them; a Minecraft server.  The reason we got it is so Interguild members could congregate in a game they play at a familiar location that they can call their own.  The server is paid for by the Interguild, and as such, we want people to use it.  A competition on the Interguild is meant to encourage activity and encourage people to use something.  If we allowed other servers, then why bother having our own?  Why not just let people do it on whatever server they want, while they stay away from something the Interguild has invested in, and still get rewarded on the site for something they did that did little to grow the community?  This is a competition for the Interguild, and if it's a competition for the Interguild, then the best place for it to take place would be a place that is maintained by the Interguild, and is best moderated to keep people in line with the rules that have been set.
No, I was saying I would rather build on my own server. And I rightfully earned it, unlike you.
Also, thank you for ninja'ing me because I was about to say something stupid.
I was told that I got it when I reached 500 posts. I did that, and you brutally shot me down because I haven't built anything "amazing".
But I'm not getting into another fight with you.
You rightfully owned it, yes, but then you showed a disregard for responsibility.
If you want to build on your server, fine, but if you want to enter it in the competition, then it's going to have to be built on the InterServer.
Since the general consensus is that Jorster should not get WorldEdit powers, I will not give them to him for now.  While I do think he is worthy, I have to agree that it seems like he has not contributed to the server enough.  If you want to have power on something, then you need to show that you are dedicated enough to get it.  Sure, you have 500 posts, but we need to see that you are willing to take the time to put thought into a building and hand-place every block with care before you can move onto the bigger stuff.
When we see some more, good stuff from you that's level-worthy, then you'll be reconsidered. =)
If you don't mind me asking, what did Flash do to get his powers revoked?
I believe this competition was started in order to encourage people to build on the new server, so it would defeat the purpose to allow people to build on other servers.
Flash, you only lost World Edit, and I find it hard to believe that it's absolutely essential for building cool stuff. You really seem to like to build huge structures, but that doesn't necessarily make them good. Especially when it comes to buildings, I always find huge columns and towers to be overwhelming from an architectural point of view, not to mention pretentious. But the good thing about your structures is that you actually put detail into them, rather than relying on bland World Edit shapes, which makes me wonder why it's such a big deal for you to use WorldEdit.
then why post it here as a picture? =\ if you want to use that as one of your pictures, so be it, if not edit it out please.
'FlashMarsh' said:
I'd say that for making judging easier, but then I saw that more people agreed, and since I'm not playing minecraft, I'll take you guys' word for it. I'll extend the video time limit to 6 minutes of neto video(and story background), not including credits and titles. I'll edit that to the rules as I post this.
well not quite post by post, more of topic by topic.
about the servers:
I really don't know how many servers are there that belong to people here, outside, or anything. what I do know, is that there is one server in which we all can play, and it is paid by the interguild/livio or something like that. THAT is the server you should be building on. I'm sorry if you started building in another server, but really, that just beats the point as livio said.
WorldEdit owning is something that I consider luxury, as far as I know it's only an addition and good stuff can be built without it. This is why you have a month and half long competition; I may be busy in July and if you need an extension, you can ask for it. But we'll get there and then decide. Don't ask for extensions before July starts.
While detail is good to make things more awesome, they have to be noticed, so take that into consideration in the pics and video you provide.
Since the video's length is no much larger, the pics will have a larger weight on my end. If you make a video too, then try to make your pics so as to examplify and explain the best in your creation.
