I posted this in the Random Chat topic, but the only one to respond was Shos, so I am reposting it here.

I think that we (read: Livio) should recreate the Interguild Awards of 2007 and handle out trophies to the winners, and also we should have a VERY delayed version of Interguild Awards of 2008. While the latter might be a bit controversial, we cannot deny the fact that many very good levels were made back then. The staff did some slight preparations back on the old Interguild, it's quite easy for us to use them. The only bad thing about that is that many users weren't active then (Yaya, Teo) or only recently joined (Harumbai, Goldfun to some extent). I still think it is a good idea though.

Hmm, maybe its only me, but when a new level gets released, I usually only look at the description (if there is one), the map generator thingy (unless the description says something like "DONT LOOK AT THE GODDAMM MAP!"), and the ratings/comments, but not the date (unless the description says something like "LOOK AT THE GODDAMM DATE!").

Anyhoo, you can easily refind well-made levels by looking at the ratings, but how long will it take to refind all the well-made levels made in 08 and 07?  And considering that people that didnt join in 07 or 08 cant really choose anything or they would have to play a bunch of levels in a few days, there wouldnt be many votes.

Im not saying its a bad idea,  Im just wondering how it would work O.o

Every level between this page and this was made during 2008, plus some of Quirvy's/Ckjr's. They didn't submit the correct date for their levels when they moved their levels onto this site, so it can be a hassle trying to find the ones made back then.

The big job here will most probably be done by the staff members, seeing as all of us has been more or less active since early 2008. We'll put together a list of nominees and link to them, just as usual. From that point and onward, you might have to play lots of caves at once, sure, but it won't be too much of an effort, I hope.

I think this is a great idea, but the best way to do it would be to keep the entire process moving quickly, rather than having it being as drawn out as the 2009 awards was. And also maybe to save time and effort, we could keep it simple and re-use the same categories that we used for the 2009 awards. But we're also gonna have to put more effort into finding nominees, since it's unlikely that members will be going back through those caves and posting suggestions.

Do remember that exactly 100% of the winning nominees was originally suggested by the staff, before we even mentioned to the public that they could have their fair share of nominating. Looking harshly at it, everyone who's active now and was active during at least 50% of 2008 is now a staff member except for Ckjr. Personally, I think that the staff can handle this easily.

We'll also have to cut the categories Biggest Failure/Success, unless someone wants to dig through the whole old Interguild. On the top of my head, I can remember a few wins, such as TehMarz CaveSearch (why are we still linking to it?), the release of the new Interguild, LeftOUT, but that's about it. A few fails includes Livio losing all debates during August-November, the lack of news posts, Ekehasa, Lily/Purple/Kitti/You know the drill...

b/c it makes all of his work feel less useless now that it's been replaced?

also don't forget Count to 5000! Actually, biggest Fail/Success will probably be the most fun part of this.
