So, I'm sure most of you have heard of SpeedTest.net.  I decided to post make this just to see what you guys get. (Because I am 95% slower than you guys, anyway. )

I can guarantee if I got a new computer, it'd be close to an A.

I usually get below 3.20 when I do this, so this was a pleasant surprise.

And my dad said this was a crappy laptop.

I'll try our 700$ computer and see how that runs.

I should try this at my university tomorrow. Supposed to be the second fastest internet connection of the Netherlands.

And I don't think the quality of your computer has anything to do with this. It is purely your provider's connection speed.

wow I'm faster than I thought. I did this right after installing IE9, which is why I came onto the Interguild, to make sure it didn't break the site (and of course, the Games tab glitches up )

Now on chrome:

Well, would you look at that. Of course, notice that when it ran on IE, I only had two tabs open, and no other windows. When I ran it on Chrome I had about 6 tabs open, and this IE window was still open. And also they made me talk to a different server this time.

Look at the servers. For your Chrome test they decided to take a server that was over twice as far away for some reason.

yeah I just noticed that and edited my post. So you got ninja'd

Btw, I feel like Chrome is still faster at loading pages than IE. Also, opening a new tab in IE9 is pretty annoying. You have to wait for the page to finish loading before IE automatically switches you to that tab.

I can't get the Tuscon server again, but I just got the Pima server in Chrome, which is pretty nearby:
I guess there isn't much of a difference between Chrome and IE. In the end it's mostly your network. And how much caching your browser does.

I'm confused about how you do the actual speedtest? Is it in the browser, or an apllication, or what?

It's in the browser.  You load the page, (speedtest.net) and click "Begin Test".  At the end, there should be a button to click if you want an image to show what you got.

It's a Flash application. So it is done inside the browser.

Meh. I don't see what it's talking about. I never get any lag when playing online, my pages load quickly and I don't download too badly (Although mu upload isn't great)

So a topic about this is created. Than a conversation about this roughly the same size if not bigger occurs in the Random Chat about a year later. Than like a month after that, this topic is revived. OH THE HUMANITY!

Well mine right now. It is a bad time since it's when the biggest stress is on the servers or whatever with the Americans coming online, so it might be a bit faster in the morning, but yeah.

??? That's what I've been told...
My internet does get slightly slower around the time when American kids would be going on after school...
