As Isa pointed out, it'd probably be better to gauge interest in a new mafia game by making an actual thread rather than just a chatbox post. So yeah, I'm up for hosting a mafia game. The setup would be 12-13 players, Upick style. The UPick style is more out of convenience so I don't have to make all the roles conform to a specific theme, I do have roles I would like to use in mind, but the UPick will allow some flexibility in role normality and maybe conjur some previously unseen inspiration.

This isn't an official signup thread, I just want to know if you'd be interested. It'd be nice if you answered the following questions:

1. Are you interested in playing a Upick mafia game?
2. Do you think you'd be able to be active enough in the near future to properly participate in a mafia game?
3. If you're hesitant on #2, would there be an ideal time in the future when you would have enough time to properly participate?

If you simply don't want to play mafia any time soon, I'd still appreciate you telling me in this thread because a direct answer will be more helpful than silence. I realize most people's answer to #3 would probably be summer, but that is far away. Still, if that is when you guys want it, I'd be fine waiting. But with playing a mafia game comes great responsibility, so mull over your time available before pre-committing. Soon (within a month) or Summer are the best times to begin a game for me, I will have several final projects and exams building up later into Spring so I would not be able to give the effort needed to mod.

The last few mafia games have ended on somewhat sour notes due to player dissatisfaction at the repetitive tendencies Interguild mafia games tend to take. If you have any suggestions that you think would make a difference (that you don't want to save for when you mod your own game ), I would be happy to hear them. The Upick format would allow for more varied roles, so that would probably prevent some of the common trappings. Have you never played mafia before? Have you only played once before and best prefer to forget about it? Are you not confident in your playing style? It's okay, still feel free to be interested. If you're motivated now, you can learn the game/from your mistakes/read MS Wiki before the game gets off the ground.

Are you interested? Is this a good idea? If there's not enough of a response, than I'll let this topic go inactive and bump it up again at a later occasion.

I am so ready that I'm already in. As a few suggestions, make the flavor interesting I guess? But how could Yaya not is the question. There's always something interesting in that mind. I remember that idea where we got to pick like three Interguild memories and the roles were loosely based around that. That was cool and added a little bit more interaction with the flavor itself rather than the flavor entirely mod-written.
