I just confirmed that it's possible for mods to add censors such as this:
Code:
[url=URL]TEXT[/url]
if they know regular expressions: http://gnosis.cx/publish/programming/regular_expressions.html
The "bad word" word be something like
Code:
(\[url=)(.*)(\])(.*)(\[/url\])
and the "good word" would be:
Code:
<a href="$2">$4</a>

forget about that last post. It seems that backslashes always get escaped if you use the censors page. So mods can't do that specific example, but they can still do crazy regular expressions stuff like how quirvy used to kill the site using the . as a wildcard.

New BBcode! the url tag:
Code:
[url=URL]text[/url]

even more BBcode:
Code:
[s][/s]

basically to start replacing:
Code:
:s::/s:

even more new BBcode:
Code:
[size=20]test[/size]
this replaces the dumb [small] and [large] tags, but those tags still work so that old posts can stay updated. Same for the strike-through censors.

You know how you can't use this: because it's used too often as a way to end many censors. Well, you could just use this:
Code:
}
but if you have trouble remembering ampersand-pound-125-semicolon, then you could always use this new censor:
Code:
:rightcurlybrace:

Hey! I demand credit for that!

Although, I only censored . into !, so I didn't really kill the site. But it was cool.

Yeah, that was CSD.

I recall that some time after jell posted that picture, I was inspired by the Palin ad, and did the same thing except "Palin for prez"

And then CSD banned me for like 10 minutes, and I temporarily lost my staff powers.

Funnily enough so far on the forums I have never needed to use a humourous picture of a bird to express my opinions so why we need three I'm not quite sure.

I'd hate to go all repititveness-and-it's-been-said-before-ness on you guys, but shouldn't you use these censors in actual posts and stuff to gain their popularity?

He's right. Both the and the smilies were used prior to being made smilies. We probably shouldn't make new censors just because we think they're kinda funny. They should at least have a legitimate use.
