Accel, could it be possible for you to create an "Aeon Discussions" sub-sub forum? I think it would help a great deal if we had seperate topics for discussing stuff like "crate classes", "arrow/missile properties" or what CSD is suggesting.
I'd have to make sub-forums possible first. Maybe break the Aeon board into its own board category again, and have two boards: one for ideas, and one for discussion?

You'd basically have you use your own images. We'd have a report offensive material button, or maybe a system where you rate the appropriateness of the level, and then you get warned about it before you play it. There'd be an editor where you can mess around with some pixels, maybe import some images to a file, and then you could go into the tile's editor and select a square of pixels to use, and then add some information about it's animation and stuff like that (speed, number of frames). Like, in the tiles' graphics tabs or something.
that sounds cool. And then we can also warn people when its inappropriateness hasn't been rated yet.

but yeah this is way off-topic. lol maybe we should create that separate forum

The acceleration and gravity options sound too advanced to just reject or accept by theorizing.
It's actually really easy to add acceleration and gravity effects. Unless you mean it'll change the gameplay in advanced ways.....

btw jebby, maybe make a new topic for that idea. Maybe a nuke crate that when detonated, destroys everything within a 2 or 3 tile radius?

Perhaps this has already been suggested, but how about an arrow repeater? Could lead to the creation of traps that are continuously running and cool things like virtual microprocessors. The level designer could tweak variables related to the repeater, such as speed of the arrows and their frequency.

I'd also like to see, and I'm almost certain this has been mentioned already, indestructible arrow crates. i.e. an arrow comes out every time the crate is hit, but the crate remains intact. Could have varying degrees of indestructibility. i.e. could be completely indestructible like terrain or only destructible by arrows and explosions like steel crates. Could also have arrows and dynamite that respawn after a given time period so that a trap can regenerate itself.

Or even projectiles that come out at 45 degrees and reflect off surfaces for X surfaces?

I wish I had some free time to try and experiment with some of these ideas; maybe when I'm revising for OpenGL later this term.

Maybe have adjustable arrow crates that you can use to make sophisticated arrow patterns, like danmaku?

I'm not sure that sort of thing would be used much by level creators; plus there's the issue of tracking and collision detection with all those projectiles on a web browser, which might be difficult. Would probably be possible on a mobile app, which I think could be an interesting platform for a HATPC clone.

Your idea would be pretty cool if the arrows came out at 90 degree angles (1-4 arrows coming out from each of the four sides); would save having to tie multiple arrow crates to a dynamite.

Also, I just noticed that my last post was a three-and-a-half-year necrobump. How time flies.
