Here's the deal:

Crate that produces nuke mushroom cloud when detonated. Destroys all crates within 2-3 tile radius. Only one allowed per level. Destroys enemies as well?

I'm not that serious about this, but it could be a cool gimmick if we were allowed one gimmick in the 'main level editor'.

Without the mushroom cloud, I'd say, sure, why not. But I don't think that a mushroom cloud would look too good in the games, being only a few tiles high. I'd just go for a really big explosion.

And what would this mushroom cloud look like in mid-air?

I think that the mushroom animation should be plastered on top of everything else so it's clearly seen. I don't think it'd look too bad if it nuked in mid-air; it's only a game, eh? Well... how about it can destroy TERRAIN? Or you can adjust the size and splash damage of the nuke. I'd definitely say that this idea should be kept in the closet until the game is fully-functioning, but it'd certainly be a fun little gimmick to entertain new cavemakers.

NEUTRAL until the game is functioning.

I think it could be abused if you had infinite nukes (plus game errors/glitches) and it would make it special if it was only allowed to be used once. And I think the mushroom cloud should be kept - that makes it a bit cooler than just a big explosion.

Hmm... a nice idea, but a whole radiation system would have to introduced. I still prefer a small nuke that can destroy anything within a larger-than-one radius. A kind of grand finale people can put into their caves.

You can't destroy terrain, because then the water it was blocking would need to rush out... And there's no way that we'd be able to get that to work/look right. So everybody stop suggesting ways of destroying terrain, because you can't.

Anyway, with the explosion editor I mentioned earlier, you could easily edit the debris to be a mushroom cloud and the affected area to be larger...

actually i like this idea, it has much potential. if it is the only one that can destroy terrain, you can try and play with it till you find the right place to bomb. you can invade secret areas this way!

or, it can make the world explode, aka, you lose if it's destroyed;

or, it can take out anything in a certain radius that's not terrain;

Question: Does it destroy crates that are seperated from the bomb by terrain, or does the blast get contained by the terrain? I think that the blast getting contained would be really cool, if you made different animations for the explosion, depending on the position of  the terrain.

Perhaps you could customise it so you can change its effects. If it's going to be introduced so that it can blow through terrain (something that I think could be used to good effect), we should wait and see if Livio can simulate water falling through broken terrain. Until then, it's a closet idea.

Hmm, that would certainly be more realistic. And to be able to crush enemies with boulders and crates like in HATIC would be good too. But first things first.

Now THAT'S a crate we need. It would be so cool if you could actually see the whole level decintegrate and burn as the explosion goes through the cave.
