Atm there are only competition awards. There should be other awards like...

-Featured in News Award
-100 Karma award
-Friendly (Recieve 50 PMs)
-Perfect (Have your level rated 10/10)
-Play around (Submit levels for three games)
-Smiler (Use a smiley)
-Undercover (Become hidden at least once)
-Stalker (Look at all members info. pages)
etc. etc. etc.

I suppose you get the idea.
This probably won't ever happen, but it's just an idea.

I WANT THIS TO HAPPEN.

I just hope that it'll get more attention now than when it was previously brought up...

Do you want Livio to spread his attention across even more projects?

I think that the main hassle for Livio here would be to copy Haily's code that he uses for IceCaves and alter it slightly to get it to work here.

Lol at the stalker award. Ya, but it'd be cool like that to almost have a little achievement system like that on the site.

sounds cool. What would it be exactly, an acheivement thing where you get automatically awarded trophies for doing stuff around the site?

I could make it so that mods can add whatever awards they want and then let them handle it.

btw, that reminds me, I haven't given awards for the 2007 Caving Elections from the old forums, have I?

but if it was an achievement based thing, then mods wouldn't be able to make trophies that are awarded upon the completion of certain tasks or passing of milestones, unless they updated it manually.

Then let's do it manually, until you have less to do.

I should be studying right now, but let's see how fast I can put this system up...

Btw, you might be able to add the Best of 2007 (caving elections) awards for me. They just won't be image awards.

Because we don't want people spamming, purposefully getting negative karma and you shouldn't get awards for posting in particular topics ie. seakittens (even if we do then it should be called the sad award.)

I agree. But there should be some awards like that.

Eg. Millenium (Post 1000 posts)
Helpful (Write a guide)
Rare Sight (Be on the at the same time as Haily)
Consolation Prize (Come last in a competition while still obeying the competetion rules)
The first and the Last (Be the only entry in a competition)

etc.

Livio, I suggest that you don't make any images when you implant this system. It will take time and put focus away. Instead, give the mods the ability to add a custom trophy to a persons user profile, or something like that.

I wonder how long it'll take him to set up that system. Probably would be faster just to do it himself. Livio, I suggest you completely ignore these ideas and move on to something more important. I'd like to see them implemented myself, but it's also another project when we already have too many that don't see enough progress.

Some examples from me:

- Friendly [2] (Write PMs to 3 [brown], 8 [silver], 15 [gold] members)
- Karma Speed (5 Karma For Week [brown], 10 karma [silver], 15 karma [gold] )
- Karma Rating [1] (Rate Positive Karma 5 posts for day [brown], 10 posts [silver], 15 posts [gold] )
- Karma Rating [2] (Rate Negative Karma 5 posts for day [brown], 10 [silver], 15 [gold]
- Posts (500 posts - brown, 1000 - silver, 1500 - gold.)
- Active [perhaps 1] ( you must tell in your profile everything, email, gender, age exc.)

I have many others and I can tell there, but not now, because I'll go to a party after a moment.

look, imo, we should also have secret ones. someone of course will have to know about it, but...we can have it that way so that each member can make one award secretly or something.

"Rare Sight (Be on the at the same time as Haily)"
lol

and I'm making the staff-awards page be just like what I have to use when putting stuff into the database, except that it's more user friendly and with some explanations. I'll be done with that page soon, actually.

btw, I like this idea, but yeah there are more important things to add first. Maybe during the summer? And maybe make a header post with all ideas so far.

a header post is a good idea.

livio, that system should be automatic, you know - the site should be awarding them automatically, it shouldn't be depended on mods.

Livio has so many other things to do currently, so in the future, yes it should be automatic. However, as of now, it is better to just make it possible for us mods to give out custom awards.
