PENTATHLON ROUND 2 - WRITE A BLOG
Write a blog post about anything.
KARMABITE'S CURRENT ENTRIES
None
We'll use this thread as the official pentathlon discussion for team two. I'll update this first post and topic as new rounds are announced, and we can give insight on other levels and ask for help on our own before the final judging days come. | | canadianstickdeath |

I think Deku has an entry as well, and we need to update for round 2. Anybody planning on writing a blog post? I'd hope to use this as an excuse to write a WT for the next HATPC level... | | imtimi |

I updated the first post for the beginning of the second round. Anyway, I'm planning on entering this:
You should still write that walkthrough, anyway, canadianstickdeath. | | Dekudude |

Oh man, Imtimi! I was going to do that, haha. D: Oh well.
Anyone have any good ideas on potential blog posts to be written? I haven't submitted one yet, CSD.

Ahh, I thought we were going to keep record of previous rounds, lol, so your entry into the last round needed to be edited in.
And maybe the two of you could work together on it? | | Dekudude |

Naw, it's fine, I'll find something else. Maybe I'll talk about the different types of platformer levels, and how they're made, and their pros and cons. Do you think that sounds acceptable, or is it already too... known?

Dekudude, I wouldn't mind at all including you in on this. We can have multiple authors for a blog post, and I actually might have a question or two for you about uploading custom music to the game and a few other technical questions. Not only would we be an awesome winning team (muahaha!) but it would make the guide perfect for the community. Let me know.
Did you guys want records of previous entries? I don't see how that really matters--there's no need left to comment on them or make suggestions that can't already be posted on the actual level pages. | | canadianstickdeath |

Nah, I'm good.
I was just thinking that you were going to keep records... but I'd prefer if you didn't waste your time. | | Dekudude |

I'd happily help. You want to write the basic stuff, then I touch up and add information on the more detailed aspects? I'll also make screenshots, if you don't want to.

I think that there's a slight problem with a KS guide: One already exists, and it's featured (more like, hidden) here on the Interguild. http://www.interguild.org/games/?game=27
Your guide should have some twist to it, in order to make it different from this one. | | Dekudude |

You mean, instead of the manual? The manual is a bit confusing, in my opinion. Something that is easy to understand, and site-exclusive, would definitely be nice.

Hey, I just tried to write a level 4 walkthrough right now, and I couldn't think of a damn thing to say. Just a heads up that I might not finish a blog, and we'll still need an entry into this round. | | Isa |

Yeah, don't count on me. I don't have enough time for this one.
What I could do is to write some sort of guide on how to make a N DDA, because that's all I'm good at. | | canadianstickdeath |

Well I wrote a level 4 blog in the end, even though it was a little late...
Who's gonna make an HATPC level with exactly three arrow? lol, whose idea was this... | | imtimi |

Argh I didn't have time to make the blog. That sort of thing can't be rushed, lol.
Anyway, I think I might make a 3 arrow level.
I have just the plan for it, too...
But I have yet to even finish a HATPC level. We'll see what I can do in a week. | | canadianstickdeath |

Lol, I was trying to think about how to do this...
A puzzle, where you have to hit the three arrows in a specific order? With only three arrows, that's too easy. Maybe a specific timing as well? That sounds too hard to make without using additional arrows. I dunno, but I'll try and come up with something, but if I can't, we'll just have to make some piece of jump and enter that, or something. | | imtimi |

I was actually thinking about having the 3 arrows lead to different paths of completing the cave. But the more I think about it, the more I realize that I'll need other arrows in order to make actually enjoyable traps. Maybe I can just milk out dynamite, boulders, and enemies? I could also make one side filled with water due to a water tap... Hmm... | | canadianstickdeath |

There was a time when arrows would get replaced with "-no tags here-" and a few decent caves were made without them. I made a really crazy dynamite run called "Look Mom! No Arrows". It still uploads. There are a lot of tricky things you can do with boulders and enemies, and you can still start your traps with dynamite crates. So it's definitely doable, and can sometimes lead to some pretty unique traps, since everybody does rely on arrows pretty heavily. | | |
