For several games in this site, making levels is a serious project. Most people have realised just how big Knytt levels can get, and I don't think anyone will ever make anything bigger than a single dungeon for Zelda Classic. These games are simply too big for one person to make a level for.
But we aren't one person! We are a community!

This topic isn't for making the level, or for picking the game. It is simply to see how much interest there would be such a project. If only two persons want to join this, there isn't really a point to this at all.
I would also like to add that we aren't limited to just KS or ZC. We could make an entire set of levels for games such as HatPC or SMF, a HatPC 2/SMF 2 so to speak. Basically anything you ever thought, "that would be nice, but there is no way I could this by myself".

If there is enough interest, I'll create a poll to decide the game.

As long as we avoid ROM's (and ZC - Sorry CSD), I'm on.

I'd like a Knytt Stories or a series of N levels to be made.

Not all of us play free rider 2 so it'd be kinda hard to do that. HatPC would be good.

1. Nobody has suggested FR2 so far.
2. We've already tried making both collabs and series of levels in HatPC, neither turned out to be any memorable.

I think we should avoid HatPC for this.

If we're going to do a FULL Interguild collab then it'll be something everyone knows. I still haven't gotten N working...

I didn't know that you tried to get it working, let me help you out.

http://www.thewayoftheninja.org/n_downloads.html

Go there, download the 1.4 version for PC, extract the files into a separate folder - be sure not to remove any files! - and you should be good to go.

I think that a knytt stories level, a huge one, could be very cool.

Several games, such as ZC and KS, are generally avoided because they take a lot of work to make levels for. By working together and splitting up the workload like this, we can try them out.
And this is also a perfect opportunity for the more experienced users to teach the inexperienced users how the game and level maker work.

Also Isa, I wouldn't force anyone to do anything illegal, so ROM modding and also stuff like RPG Maker or Game Maker won't be options.

So how much interest is there for this project? If you are interested in joining something like this, could you respond?

I'm still with SMF, after all it is simple and easy to make levels for. You don't need to download anything. HatPC is more complicated than that!

I'd say we definitley should stay away from Hatpc; that cow has one sore udder (epic metaphor ftw!). I'm open to complexier games like Knytt and all, it's just with school starting I can't stay on very long during the week anymore. As for Smf, it's easy to learn, easy to play, and almost everybody has played some Mario related game in their time. If we did a Smf collab, we could either do one massive level, or we make are own version of the Smf game (each person contributes a level, as they get progressively harder). I think I'd sit out the 1st time around if we did Knytt, but I'd probably give atleast some input if we did Smf.

We should do our own version of the smf game. I say we do 3 worlds with each kind of level in it, so there will be 6 in one world, 3 worlds, 18 levels total.

I can't beat the fifth level without holding down C and H and pressing the options button on the main menu.

See, if you make an Smf Harumbai, you can make it as beatable as you want.

yeah, it fits quite well. If you are not good, you can make yours one of the first levels. but we may need some people doing more than one level.

I would try my best for a KS collab. Meaning also I would TRY and avoid deleting the level before I place any tiles, lol.

And yes I agree we should stay FAR away from HATPC. At least 90% of the level database is full of HATPC levels. It's the most popular game on here.
KS is a step up from HATPC: similar, but enhanced a bit a lot. I think we should go with that.

Who agrees?

this sounds so cool. I wish I had the time for this. Making a really big project in one of these complicated games sounds like something a game design team would do.

I love beef!!! *bad joke*

Anyways, I don't think it would work that well cause it wouldneed alot of teamwork. We wouldn't want one tiny easy part and a huge insane part.

He doesn't like it 'cause it's complicated, and then right after he suggests we make a Kyntt Stories level?

I think ZC could work well as far as teamwork is concerned, but IDK. You could have some people draw the tiles, while another scores the music, others come up with story, the super-technical could write scripts, while others design the maps.... I'm not saying we make a ZC quest, I just don't know why it's immediately been ruled out.
And ZC really isn't THAT complicated. There are a couple of gotchas, but once you get the main ideas figured out, it's not hard too work with. If anybody wants to take it up and can't figure out how to get something done, I'm sure I could help you.

I am a crappy Zelda player (starting on level 7 did not help either) and it was a pain to start a custom quest...and besides, it's technically speaking still illegal to play. I think that's a good enough reason not to do it for this collab.

My stance on ROM based games and ZC is that we shouldn't have them hosted/linked to at all, because it's illegal to play and make levels for them.
