This reminds me of the good ol' days in Interguild Domingo, where I was a total spammy idiot. AKA, Nezzles the 1st, or Kitti.

It's nice that you're boasting and all, but I'm not fond of the fact that you're provoking Neezles to continue to troll us.

It's also annoying when it turns out that greeting new users are essentially done for nothing, because in the end, I'm still talking to the same person as I did just a few weeks/months ago.

You know what, I'm tired of all of this. We should just stop accepting new members, because we only get trolls. For all I care, you could go to 4chan and talk to similar-minded ones. Try to get some kid to brick their dads computer or something, it has worked before and I'm sure you've seen the thread.

I am disappointed, not amused, and I don't feel encouraged to continue being active on the Interguild. But I suppose that makes your trolling successful, so congratulations.

If we want to stop neezles, then we should ignore neezles. The only reason she is trolling is to get a reaction from us, right? If she doesn't then she'll just stop out of complete boredom. So maybe, from now on, anyone who mentions neezles should have their post removed or get -karma or something.

I had enough of looking at this blog, so I moved it's contents somewhere else. The only thing about it that you need to know is that imtimi admitted to being florida (aka egruntz/zoink yoink), and recent changes to the ip search allow us to confirm this.

I understand you were just having fun and I know you were never malicious about any of it, but understand that the Interguild is sort of growing up and this kind of thing has become more annoying than impressive. You came clean on your own so I won't let you get punished for it, but for future reference, these multiple account charades lost their novelty a long time ago.

So you took the effort of contacting your internet provider to change your IP address, possibly multiple times, with the single intention of fooling a small community of 15 members? Honestly? Was that really worth it? I don't really care about the side accounts, but this is a bit pathetic.

And trolling is the act of fishing for emotional replies by disruptive posting, not the act of fooling people. What Neezles is doing is trolling in its purest form. What you did was nothing more than a little prank. At least get your terminology correct.

So much for actually getting a new, mature respectful member in the past year (imtimi). Just a past one that became slightly less mature and respectable...

maybe florida was trying to get better respect. Once someone makes another account and lies they are treated with less respect. Maybe Florida just wanted to get as much respect and trust as all of the other interguild members. Maybe that is why Florida wanted to make another account, not just to fish for attention.

Egruntz/Florida never had any lack of respect.

Huh. I guess if imtimi really admits it, then I should admit... that this account is still under the use of it's original owner (Woodstock). I really miss the times when the interguild was more... mature... when I didn't have an account... when I edited my brother's caves to make them crappy... I guess things have taken a more serious turn... also, what happened to Orcasaur and was that account actually Florida?

Defining trolling isn't so direct. What you've described is the simple action of provoking reactions, a type of trolling. Think of trolling as a crow and provoking a raven--a kind within a species.

I did it for neither reasons. I've never been necessarily disliked, nor have I necessarily had a need to be liked. This was done on a whim of witty entertainment, and to be honest I saw it as a fun challenge at some points. Practicing your slyness where consequences for being caught aren't dramatic builds the skills that situations from the real world demand and where consequences are far greater.

understand that the Interguild is sort of growing up

Oh, definitely. The Interguild's progression has actually been outstanding over the past few years. The new website and new functions and new features have provided greatly for the community, but it's wherein the community itself that the maturing lacks. Besides the one or two new members who eventually stop posting after a week or two, this place is the same--old dogs just with some new tricks. As cool as this place has become, I honestly doubt that the community will expand further than its originals and veterans. The Interguild is more of a group of friends than a true growing website. And I don't say that in any sort of offensive means--that's simply the truth of it. The most active members were in those guilds all those years ago, and that familiar pattern likely will not change. And, again, not that there's anything wrong with that. This place is awesome.

Anyway, it's about time that you guys truly stopped caring about neezles. You realize that by shunning her and calling her "that forbidden name," you're giving her exactly what she wants? Do you realize that by yelling at people to "stop feeding the trolls," you're feeding the trolls? Do you realize that by making a big deal from mentioning her trolling tactics in this blog and thus deleting it (which she's likely seen, by the way), you're giving her confirmation that she's under your skin? neezles is, in perspective, a troll, but she's also a member. To be honest I say she gives this, at times, too serious place some illumination. How long have you guys been putting up with her gimmicks, now? The Interguild without her would be just weird.

aw, I saw this blog post the other day and I hit read later, only to see that it's been deleted.

Although, I am kinda surprised at the negative reaction behind this. Perhaps the negativity stems from a growing frustration with this community's stagnation of growth. Although it's cool how we manage to stay together for so long, the lack of growth means that the only direction we can go in is down.

What do you think we've been trying to do these recent times...? Poke Livio with pins and spikes?
Neezles is always there, and it's hard to just ignore her.

Are you sure about "what she wants"? You can't always tell what a troll is actually thinking. Trolls usually fish for attention - I do realize that ignoring Neezles will encourage her.

I agree with this statement entirely. CSD, you're doing it wrong. If Neezles does read this, maybe it will make her look over herself. CSD, deleting this blog may have entirely ruined it.

That is true. I actually do laugh at her stupid gimmicks, to grab attention, and it evens gets me out of my black moods sometimes. I have been starting to think we should treat Neezles equally. This could also help her think over her actions. And the Interguild would be pretty bland without her.

I'm taking Imtimi's side on this one. We should change how we behave around Neezles. Perhaps give her attention when she asks for it? Perhaps treat her like a normal member? Perhaps restore the deleted content of this blog post?

So what do we say about this, guys?

I didn't really care about the multiple account thing, to be honest, but this quote did annoy me.

We were ignoring Neezles. We really did stop caring. Long ago. The only person who still seems to care is Kitti, to be honest (also the only person to call her "that forbidden name", once), and possibly Silver. You were the one who came along and posted a giant blog post for her. And then you chastise us for feeding the trolls. What? By deleting the blog, we're feeding the troll? Maybe by posting the blog you're feeding the troll? Seriously, you're the only reason anybody is talking about her right now. CSD may have been overreacting when he deleted the blog, but I don't blame him for finding it annoying, and I think that was more from the general immaturity of it than the fact that it was directed at Neezles.

Actually, it is. The term 'trolling' doesn't originate from the troll, the mythical ugly creature from Viking legends, it comes from fishing. Trolling on the internet means 'to fish (for emotional replies)'. While fooling people is one of the ways to achieve this, merely pranking people without actually fishing is not trolling in any way.
Just the fact that you bothered to make this blog post for Neezles shows that she was a more successful troll than you.
