This topic goes out to all of the levels out there that you've made, invested time and time again in, only to find that the general public mostly ignored your hard work and didn't give enough feedback on.

For me, a level that I think should be recognized more is Gush. It is a bit of a novelty level because it's quite short and all the traps revolve around the same theme, but the traps are legit (though quite easy). A level which is a bit bigger and I'd like to give more recognition to is Filler. I released it shortly after the new Interguild was upgraded to including a level gallery, and it was decently recognized in the way that it got a nomination for Most Fun Cave that year. However...I still feel it could do with some more plays.

What are your underplayed levels?

Obvious choice is Imperio but nobody would play past 3rd trap so nay.

I'm going to go with Triathlon. Everyone negated it because Quirvy couldn't pass the first trap, which really was quite easy. I made a full walkthrgouh of the cave in like 20 tries, and he made a video of like 5 minutes of attempts to pass the first trap. Nobody bothered to play that cave through, and that cave had some quite originals you all just haven't seen. So yes.

Also, I'm not sure how many of you guys bothered to play Hydrodynamics or Round and Round - both a small/tiny caves which are imo very neat.

off to play basketball

Green Grasslands 8. I remember working really hard on it because it was my 200th level, but in the end it only got rated once and only two people commented on it. But then again, at that time, everything I made was a rip-off of stuff Dando Sefro made, so I guess it's alright.

Tomb of Thoth
Lair of Osiris
Ready Seth Go!
Compact Complexity

Tomb of Thoth is fun. It's my highest rated cave. It's okay if you won't play Lair of Osiris but try it even once. Ready Seth Go is hard but for me it's cool. Most traps are precise which make things hard but cool. Hannah even float in the air and there are many gems to collect. Compact Complexity is easy but only one rated it- Shos.

It's good to be back.

I find it funny that, all those levels are of 4-digit ID int he database, and Isa's Gush is 92 -_-

Well, I tend to bug people a lot when my levels don't get attention, so most of them at least get one rating (usually a 9.1). If I had to pick one though, it'd probably be the Nightosphere. I think it got overshadowed due to me releasing it in the middle of the IO without entering it in any comp (What is more stupid... there was not a single comp that it even remotely qualified for, or that I still released it despite that?). I put a lot of time into it and was geniunley proud of it. Usually I always seem to make good like I make a really cool level (IMO) in the middle of spring or beginning of Summer because I end up spending like 3 months on it (The Bends, The Nightosphere Get To Da Choppa. The others were well received, though). All I got was a pity rate by Quirvy (and I mean like, hardcore pity) on this one.

I also just have to bring up the subject of videos that should be watched more. The fact that my Badlands Rumble walkthrough got no ratings, let alone no comments made me a very sad panda. Just saying...

I also have realized for a while that Filler is the redheaded step child of high concept Interguild levels (except nobody beats it!), I've tried Isa, but I've never gotten too far in it. I'll be sure to try it the next time I actually want to play HATPC, though. I actually thought the first trap of Triathalon was really cool, Shos. The rest of the cave... fun to watch, not to play. Oh, and I BOTHERED WITH HYDRODYNAMICS!

No, I wasn't calling this cave a piece of bread.

PITA: Text speak for Pain In The ***

Anyways, I set the boulders up in such a position that if I positioned a boulder below the 2 tile tower of secret areas near the up tutorial arrows, that I could corner-jump into the secret area, and push a boulder left and make the dynamite fall thru the floor, allowing me to get past the 2 metal crates. I did get it like this, but no matter how hard I tried, I could not get stuck in the corner to save my sorry ***. I eventually assumed it was not meant to be done that way and gave up.

hmm. *sigh* i wish i had time to check it out anyways, this is how it was meant to be. it should work.

well yaya beat it in mind, but apparantly there's something that he can't get to work. it's just technical, and it did work for me, but still, hmm. i'll try to see if there's any way to make it uh, more-likely-to-work-easily, but i have not much time so can't promise anything.
Sigh....

I'm not very concerned about Filler - I don't consider it one of my best. If I want someone to play a level that I've made, generally, I'll just ask them to rate The Pipe Dream. Living In A Box could do with more attention...but it was released at the old Interguild, and I got a lot of feedback and thoughts since it was my first level, and it was surprisingly good for a first-timer, so I couldn't really put it in here.

This bothers me because I feel like you are falsely pinning me as the reason why your cave didn't get a lot of feedback. I wasn't the first person to complain about not being able to beat the first trap. I wasn't even the second -- I was the third:

'krotomo' said:
I gave up. I lost so many times on the first trap that I realized there was probably about 1 million more traps like that one. I don't know how many times I lost. I stopped counting at 35.

Opinions on the cave from people who had played the cave were:
'krotomo' said:
Anyway, The cave really was too hard. Way too hard.

'Quirvy' said:
Hey, I managed to beat the first trap!
'Sefro' said:
Me too! Then I promptly gave up. Way too hard.

Livio said that he was going to "try this cave for real now" but never posted anything afterwards, so either he didn't get far enough that he felt he was able to further comment, he forgot to comment, or he didn't get around to actually playing it further.

Feedback from Triathlon video comments:
'Livio' said:
lol shos if you proved anything, it's that we have no hope with this cave. you're on a whole different level from us mere mortals....

'jellsprout' said:
I ask you, how did you ever expect anyone to figure this cave out?

Everyone who played the cave gave feedback which indicated that it was too hard. When that happens, it usually means that your level is too hard. The discrepancy between how hard you think it is and how hard most people think it is can be explained in 2 ways:
1. You designed the cave and tested it. Sometimes this makes you think that traps are going to be easier than they really are because you're more accustomed to it than everyone else. As a whole, you know what to expect, where to go, what to do, and are used to the timing of your traps. As a result, you do better at it than everyone else. I can speak personally; Steel Insanity - I beat it, most people didn't reach the final 2-3 traps. Inclines Reborn - I got further in it than anyone else when done in one try.
2. You are significantly better at playing hatpc than everyone else, and as a result caves that seem hard to most don't seem as hard to you.

The thing I remember about this was that despite all of the feedback about your cave being too hard (mostly the first trap; not many people got very far past it), and our insistence that it was too hard, you dismissed the notion of Triathlon being hard as illegitimate:
'shos' said:
now guys i'm going to sleep, and PLEASE for god's sake when i wake up into my Infinitecimal Calculus, PLEASE make this thread full of real comments.

'shos' said:
why not? seen ANY trap AT ALL that may be too hard? you all make a big fuss about a small pile of crap. next time, try to be just *alittle* serious.
And as a result, no one was able to get anywhere in your cave.

It was because of this that no one played your cave through, not because I couldn't pass the first trap.

Also somewhat related: apparently the idea for making that video didn't even originate from me:
'shos' said:
okay you know what? record your play, it'll make it slower and easier for you.

To summarize: don't blame me for why your cave was allegedly not played enough.

You know what, some of our caves are commented but not rated. It means they are played but doesn't finish it as a whole. Playing doesn't mean you need to finish the level, it means try your best and have fun with it. People don't have the same abilities and skills so some people might finish your cave and some people don't. Sometimes our levels are too hard that only the one who created it knows how to finish the cave. That's why we have walkthroughs but if it's a speed cave, it always depends on the skill of the person. Walkthroughs works on puzzles and things you don't know how to solve and do but straightforward speed cave don't work. It's always fun to watch. Some caves are too long to finish that's why they are not played. Long caves usually frustrate us because when your'e near finishing it and you touched a spike or get squashed by something, you get to start all over again. Some caves are easy but doesn't get played because they don't advertise it or encourage us to play that's why it is easily forgotten. Sme people can't play caves that needs Fiddler. We all wanted to get appreciated, right? but there are reasons why our caves are not appreciated, played or rated. We are a community. We need to help each other to improve each other's work. Criticism. This post means that at least try to play the caves above and don't give up that easily. If you tried so hard but nothing works, try to comment to the user's cave and tell what's the problem. Let us not blame others why your cave is not played. As I said, we have different abilities. There is a saying that if you don't want to, there's a reason, If you want to, there's a way. I hope this serves as a lesson. That's all.

From L24:
'krotomo' said:
Soccer, why are these levels so hard? If you're continuing from level 20, then shouldn't you also be continuing the slowly increasing difficulty?

It's pretty simple... no one has given feedback.

Of the first three, there was only one comment, and that was just Quirvy saying he'll play it later. Feedback is super important guys.

Okay, we make levels that are too hard to be properly enjoyed. We come to this conclusion just about every time this subject comes up,  you know. Maybe 2-3 balanced levels come out after each revelation, but there's never a permanent change.

I'm not that great at puzzles. That's why my cavea are mostly straightforward. Since soccerboy usually rate my caves, I wanted to repay the favor but I'm not that great at playing, I'm (not that) great at making caves. There's a huge difference about that. That's why I rated his DDA. Agree to Soccerboy. Feedback is really important to improve our works, see what's wrong, check the problem and ratings. Definitely ratings.
