Popular websites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr have already hopped onto the bandwagon. Hashtags are becoming increasingly popular, and I believe that a site such as the Interguild would be highly benefited by having hashtags. You may be thinking that a small group centralized around gaming might not see widespread use, but let me tell you here that having hashtags on posts would encourage the community to be, well, more like a community. Other forums have not figured this out, and this would attract members that casually glance over the Interguild to actually join and become part of the community. With popular threads such as the "thomas-jorster-darvince talk thread", it can be surmised that it would only become more popular if members were able to post things such as #kol, #jkok, or #misc_jackie_chan.png. The possibilities and expansions that adding hashtags to the Interguild could bring are huge, and I hope that a community like ours is open to this idea.

I like this.  It would allow the members to use hashtags to feel like they're a part of a greater good, and let anyone be a part of the next #kol or #mfw, instead of limiting the usage of those to cliques within the site.  Right now, if someone else uses a word that wasn't started by their clique, they feel left out and abandoned when everybody shuns them.  This would help break down those barriers and allow a greater inter-communication, resulting in the expansion of the site.

Can you feel your heart burning?
Can you feel the struggle within?
The fear within me is beyond anything your soul can make, you cannot kill me in a way that matters
