Wow, I go to sleep with no topic and I wake up to four pages already!

Jazz, you do realise that we have some players who are new and/or inexperienced. What if one of these was our cop or another useful role, and, not really knowing how to play mafia very well, took it seriously and reveled their role to the town, but more importantly the mafia. If the mafia knew who the cop was (as an example) on D1, we would almost certainly lose our cop that night, which is good for the mafia and independant, but bad for the town. I will go ahead and:

Yeah wow. Four pages when I was sleeping. I'm gonna FoS: Jazz. If the mafia know who are cop is -like Yuggy said- then that's mafia 1 independent 1 us, town 0. I am FoSing Jazz for the same reasons as Yuggy really. :/

Karma rating in the game is okay; it's against the rules in the Graveyard so that nobody can see snippets of the post from the Recent Karma Ratings page. By the way, the Mafia forum is off-site this time around, so if someone is online a lot but doesn't seem to be posting, it doesn't have anything to do with the game.

I dislike this post very much, very very much. Outward influence shouldn't be a factor.

Silver, Yuggy, Shavey Dave - why are you only using a FoS? Votes are the way to go, as have been shown.

@Dando, can we get a list of players currently not voting in future votecounts?

I'd like to think that we don't have one of those in the game due to the bastard element included (nevermind that I had a semi-Jester in HatXC Mafia...), also to be frank, Jazz isn't really known for stellar play if you look at previous games he has participated in.

Well I was originally waiting to see what he does next but if me Silver and Yuggy vote Jazz then he will be lynched. Your enthusiasm for us to vote Jazz might suggest your mafia trying to lynch town but at this moment in time I highly doubt that.

I have made a decision and I am going to be a man and take for action!

Vote: Jazz

I also do have a huge dislike to that post Jazz made. I'd rather lynch you Jazz then have Livio -100 karma you.

Wow, sorry I missed the launch of Day 1.
Narrative
Snipe, having witness the death of Adam and the aftermath of the boss's mauling, quickly ran into his office and shut all the blinds. His heart pounding, Snipe grabbed his phone and frantically tried to dial out. He couldn't get a connection. Nor was his cell or laptop working. It seemed that Vicom had cut all communications to the outside. A chill crept over him. There was no help coming. If the Neopets team was going to survive, they were going to have to ferret out the assassins among them and then devise an escape route.

With pen in hand, Snipe opened a blank spiral-bound notebook and began to write. He wasn't certain he'd live to see the end of this thing and he thought there should be some record of the events. He also thought that this record might help his colleagues and him discover who the conspirators were.

When he had finished, he hid the notebook under the keyboard slide of his desk and left his office. There was a gathering of his coworkers in the common area down the hall from his office. The discussion was wild and clearly panic stricken. Snipe listened quietly, trying to get a read on the people there. Half of them seemed to be either intoxicated or plainly psychotic. It made killer-hunting very difficult.

Discussion
I just want to remind people that everyone has a unique non-vanilla role, so roleclaiming is a bad idea for the town because it gives too much information to the mafia, who already have an information advantage.

I'm a newbie to mafia, so it's unlikely that they would make me mafia. I know that's not really proof, but at this point it's the best anyone really has.

I find it strange that non-mafia would intentionally muddy the decision process.

Maybe you should hold off on the sarcasm? You're only confusing the townies; the mafia already knows whether or not your mafia.

[b]FoS: Isa

So here's what I think so far:
Player                        Read        Certainty

- shos                             Null read 0%
Your posts don't really tell me anything. It's not really your fault; that's just this stage of the game.
- soccerboy13542           Null read 0%
Have you posted anything? Can't really read into nothing except when it lasts. Then it's a mafia read.
- Yuggy                          Town read 20%
You havn't posted much, but that's probably for similar reasons to mine, so no harm there. Your post reads town to me, but I don't really give to much certainty to it at this point.
- Yaya                            Town read 35%
Even though you random guessed me as mafia, I think you play style so far reads town. You seem to be mafia fishing while protecting townies (to a small extent).
- Silver                           Town read 20%
Some people suggest that seriousness is bad. I think they're idiots. Being straight forward and serious helps to prevent confusing fellow townies. I don't like your sarcastic defense, though. To help yourself, you should go offensive, since there's no way to prove you're town when you go on the defense.
- Isa                               Mafia read 15%
I read mafia for the reasons I gave above. I recognize that you may have been joking around, but that's kinda annoying and doesn't help the town or you in anyway. That being said, I place low certainty on the mafia read for you.
- Shavey Dave                Town read 15%
Mainly because you're voting for Jazz, I'm reading town on you. Your explanation for you vote seems solid enough.
- Thomas                        Null read 0%
You seem pretty aggressive. This could be because you're town and want to win, or because you're mafia and want to sow confusion, thus the null read. I know you're an experienced player, so I will treat you with a great deal of caution.
- canadianstickdeath       Null read 0%
I disagree with your reasoning when you talk about giving one's thoughts on the game this early. Giving our thoughts allows the game to progress and can point out holes in a mafioso's wall of logic. Because you discourage this, that post reads mafia to me. However, your provided reasoning could be a legitimate belief you hold, in which case that's town read. There is no way to discern between these two cases, so I get a null read on you. Also, you're older than me and therefor not to be trusted.
- snipereborn                  Town, obviously
- Jazz                             Mafia read 40%
I really just don't like your play style at all.
- Harumbai                     Null read 0%
           No posts yet.
- Jellsprout                     Town read 15%
I recognize you as as an experienced player and generally crafty. Your posts read town to me because you don't like jazz, which is probably a townie response. Also, bellsprout was awesome.

Is this post too long? Should I break it up in the future?

We engaged in the Random Voting Stage at the start. Votes are going to be given for goofy reasons. Those who "joked around" are the ones experienced with the game - me, Jellsprout, CSD, Thomas, shos - even Jazz and soccerboy. They've been through this before. They know that initial reasons are going to be poor, and they don't care. There's no muddying of the water to be done, because there's not even water to swim in. By making these random votes with random reasoning, we are slowly filling our dehydrated lake of information with water, waiting for reactions to fish. Then, a BIG FISH jumps into the lake in the form of Jazz rolefishing. We now have a decent puddle of information, and as you noted, serious discussion immediately commenced.

What do you think of page 1 of this game?

"I'm a newbie to mafia, so it's unlikely that they would make me mafia. I know that's not really proof, but at this point it's the best anyone really has."
All roles are chosen randomly. Everyone has an assumed 3/13 chance of getting scum (assuming there's 3 scum, which is the standard), you as well as me, despite our difference in experience.

firstly, jazz is at L-1, someone unvote immidiately. what's wrong with you guys?
Unvote; Vote: yaya I think that starting from that place and on, it's just mafia trying to get a mislynch, or a newbie Village Idiot(VI).Jazz has made a newbie mistake, and getting so much votes on him is wayyyy over the top. I'd vote Isa for both voting and encouraging people to vote, but he voted too soon. come on guys, someone unvote, I DO NOT WANT HIM AT L-1

Sniper, the game has only just started, giving reads for everybody is way too soon. we're not quite out of RVS at all - chill alittle, the starting sarcasm is by almost everyone.

my guess is, btw, taht sniper is a townie whose role is to post a narrative once in a while. this could be cool

There is much more to be gained today. We've barely started and we can get much more information from everyone, and I am not willing to risk a random hammer.

(Hammer = the last vote on a wagon, the vote that lynches someone)

and to me it only looks like we're out of RVS because of the jazz wagon, in which the only suspects are the people wagoning. do you guys really believe jazz to be a scum lynch for only his few stupid posts during RVS? for all we know he just might have been sarcastic too, which in combination with stupid results as this.

Yeah, I realized after I posted that monster that it was overkill. I was trying to make up for not posting before and got carried away.

Are roles given randomly by a computer, or by a person? I was just thinking it would be stupid to have a bunch of newb mafia.

As for what I think about page 1, that's sort of what I was talking about with my narrative
"The discussion was wild and clearly panic stricken. Snipe listened quietly, trying to get a read on the people there. Half of them seemed to be either intoxicated or plainly psychotic."
That wasn't supposed to be too serious, but that's what I've got so far.

Now that I am hopefully not getting ninja'd...

Shos, Jazz has played two (or three? can't remember) games on here. He has moderated one. He knows how a mafia game is playing out. Fishing for role information has never been done, simply because it is NOT. GOOD.

In another game, on another site, I'd disagree heavily with you about the dangers of having a wagon like this...however, I am not entirely at comfort with a L-1 wagon on here. Not because there is anything special about L-1 being bad, but because it's just one vote from a lazy townie from a hammer, ending the day way too early, and I believe that due to the general lack of experience that we actually HAVE here, I'm not safe with a L-1 wagon this early due to that. I am entirely fine with L-2 as of now.

What's your reasons to dislike a L-1 wagon?

You say that you'd vote me for encouraging people to vote if I had joined the wagon later - why are you then voting Yaya instead of Shavey Dave, who joined the bandwagon at a "scummy" time just like Yaya, but gave out FoS'es to Yuggy and Silver for not voting and only casting FoS'es...when he had committed the same act himself?
Vote: Shavey Dave

Yes. Note the "Out of RVS" part. We've successfully made people reveal themselves and can now go on with serious votes. Some of those are on Jazz, some are not. It doesn't matter which ones are on Jazz or not, what matters is that now is a time that we can place serious votes, which we frankly couldn't at day 1 unless you wanted to policy lynch someone.

'shos' said:

Does he sound sarcastic to you when he asks for cop claims?

They should be given out by a computer, and I trust Dando to be professional enough to do so. If she gave out the roles by hand, people could use PoE - process of elimination - to eliminate targets. For example, in a theoretical situation where Yuggy and Shavey Dave has flipped Mafia, two more or less inexperienced Mafia players, if you know that she handpicked the roles, do you think that she'd pick Jazz as mafia as well? Probably not.

(Also, I have made long posts as well in past Mafia games. The term Isapost was coined to describe a huge wall of text. I don't mind them.)

my point in that post was that my post was about he starting of the out of RVS part.

want a long mafia post? here.

and as I said, from that point on. shavey and sniper seemed like newbs mistakes to me. remember last game where I lost? shavey made a mistake in thinking; it came out good for him of course, but generally - he hammered without waiting for me to reply. therefore I consider him a newb, together with sniper; but yaya? nnnnnope.

pedit: also, I think that sniper is town, since in his invented narrative, he said something about 'his desk'. clearly viacom worker won't have a desk there(??)

Well, that's not necessarily true. The Viacom workers were hired by the Neopets team, too. So they might have a cubicle or something. Maybe a closet full of dead children and a sacrificial alter?
