For the simplified project, I'm going to use a stick figure as the character as that's easier to animate.
So here is something I quickly made.
Need any improvements?

looks cool.

I got an awesome idea the other day for another usable character: an invisible guy. not very practical, but you know; just to mess around with.

I can't get the animation to work. Because it is only black/white, I can't discriminate any of the body parts and the character in each frame looks completely different from the one in the last.
So I'm going even more basic, and use a stickfigure animator. That shouldn't take too long.

I've made the animations for standing, running, jumping, ducking and crawling. If you think any are too slow, you can easily edit them within the game. Also note that the jumping height or length will not be the same as in the final game. This is just an indication of the animation.

Would we need swimming for the testing game or not?

Hey, when you're jumping, and moving around in the air, should we make a different animation, or just have that guy move around?

Just use that animation, it's good enough.

Swimming shouldn't be needed.

Moving jumps will be the same as standing jumps.
But I might change that specific animation. I just don't like it.

yeah much better. Since it looks pixelated, I was wondering if we could use a vector animation.

The images here are about 3 times bigger.

Very good, but the one flaw that's clear to me is the lack of head movement in the crawling motion. Make the upper body and head jog up and down as the character crawls and it'll look really good. Top draw otherwise.

i agree with jebby, although i have to say, your drawing is very cool, and especially the crawling.

It's not a drawing.  I think he probably used Pivot.

you know what, I think we should REJECT this.

because the stick figure will be too thin hard to see, and making the lines thicker would just look ugly and weird. We could just draw something really quick with proportions closer to Hannah's. in fact, we could make a stick figure (I guess it'd be more like block men) with a style like that.

Why not just use Hannah for the simplified project? We have her sprites.

I think the assumption was that we would release a "simplified" version of Aeon first, but I don't see why we should. And especially because I don't like to show people stuff until it's 100% complete, that would be a whole lot better if we left the simplified project closed. and besides if we did release a simplified project, I think that would encourage procrastination against making it cool because we'd see it as a different project.

Not "release". "Make". Once the game works, we'll make it pretty.

Yeah. For the prototype we'd be making the engine, developing some of the tiles, and THEN we can start to add the real characters, the real graphics, and the other tiles and effects.
