yeah, but I just want to know why we can't at least start having drafts done for some of the tiles. It's not like we don't know how the game's engine will come out since we're mimicking HATPC...

I mean we could really speed up the project's completion here

Oh, I posted on top of you. Yeah, making tiles now is okay. But we should make a very simple Aeon before we do anything else, I'm saying.

well what I mean is for the programming, I'll obviously be using really simple stuff for testing purposes but since I'm the only one coding, I don't see why you guys have to wait around for me to finish to start working seriously on the artwork for the game

I didn't say that. We can work on the artwork at any time; it'd be the same in the prototype as it would be in the final version, likely. I'm saying you should make a basic version of Aeon so we have something to build up from. We can decide what features we really want and test them in the game.

Why not? Because I don't want to waste my time I doing crap like that when the tiles might not even be put to use. I wanna see some results before I start putting effort into it.

man, I sure have bad skills understanding other people's logic

so basically:

the original prototype for Aeon should only include the most basic of stuff, with nothing of the new, complicated stuff that we plan to add. ----> which means that artwork is not something to worry about. ----> even though it is being worried about by other people who aren't me. ---> bleh

I hope that post was intended for motivational purposes again, csd

I don't understand where artwork came into this.

... Oh! When I said "then we can add the real graphics". Yeah, that was based on the assumption that we wouldn't have all of the artwork done by then. I'm not saying that you should work on the prototype and none of us should work on artwork. I'm just saying that we should make a prototype with which we can test things before we make the actual game.

confusion!
I thought the prototype was supposed to be like a first-draft of the game. If i'm not making a game when I'm making the prototype than what am I making?

lol. just forget about it. this looks like it's turning out to be a waste of a conversation caused by a dumb misunderstanding of posts

No no, the prototype is the game, just a very early version of it. I didn't mean to say "make the actual game". I meant to say "before they make it into the actual game".

I think so far we're planning on copying hatpc and making the tiles 32x32

If you do want to make a character, take Hannah and modify her from there. Look, if you want to I can get a picture of her for you...

If TNT ever saw that they would really blew up a storm even if they didn't care about hatpc. Hey CSD, you haven't told me whether this is going to be a online game or a download-to-your-desktop game.

They wouldn't be able to do anything because we aren't selling the game for profit. Plus, we wouldn't be keeping Hannah, so it's unlikely they'd ever notice.

CK, I'm not making it. I was just musing at some point about whether I should just give up on waiting for Accel, or start making an attempt at it myself. I'd like to, but I know there's no way I'd actually do it, lol. Well.... at least yet, anyway. -If- I were to make it, I could probably do either/both online/offline without too much trouble. I'd prefer offline, though.

I'll be a beta tester. XD XD XD

And I think it would be REALLY cool to have a browser version, for someone else's computer, and a downloadable version for...coolness and...convenience.

downloadable version is good for when you're internet is as slow as CSD's, but I like how it would be very easy to make updates to an online version

Just have an auto updater.  Every time you load it, it checks for updates.

I think that the new game should be available in different formats (exp. Flash, Java, etc.)

that would be a cool idea if we didn't have to reprogram it every time.

I can't believe I didn't think of that. Maybe I'll make both versions. By basically offering the swf file(s) for download.

The reason I made the stick figure graphics is because of the work it takes to make actual full sprites. That entire stick figure sheet took me about half an hour. But that single sprite of Wolfy took me several hours. The stick figure is just so you have something to test with, while I'm still working on the actual graphics.

And my idea was to make something simple of just the bare essentials. A character, terrain, a door and probably some crates. Something to first practice with and to test with. After we get that working correctly, we can expand that engine into the full game.
