It's pretty simple. It's a hidden block of terrain. It's not invisible, but it is very very faint. If you touch it, it appears and turns into a normal, not hard to see, block of terrain.

kindof useless i think =\ that's just designing if it isn't invisible. if it IS invisible, then it could be nice; something like the opposite of secret areas. but...would things that fall get through it? and arrows? dynamites? what happens if you jump to one from below? would you get stuck, fall and have a glimpse of visibility?

Any object except the player would go through it like it wasn't there.

If you jump from below, you would bounce back like it was regular terrain.

It is not invisible, but it is very very faint

I like this idea. Sounds like a cool extra for the game, but definitely not something we should worry about adding right away.

This is not Super Mario, and I don't like it very much. Still, NEUTRAL

It's a tough choice for me. I mean, the idea is cool, like the opposite of a secret area, and we could use it to place gems and such around the map in the main levels, but at the same time, it seems kind of weird, and I get the feeling someone it's gonna get abused by some less experience level makers, whether to make evil traps, or just putting them all over the map because they think it's cool.

Also, I'm guessing that it wouldn't show up on the map?

I remain NEUTRAL, but am leaning a little bit towards the APPROVE side.

I agree with Quirvy's NEUTRAL, yet leaning to APPROVE.

I see the fact that things go through it until you touch it useful, but the nearly invisible part just seems annoying. It would be like another kind of secret area (almost an anti-secret area).

NEUTRAL

I'll be the first to REJECT this. I've never liked invisible terrain in games; it's not very versatile and, honestly, it's rare to see it implemented in a way that is not annoying.

I was thinking that maybe we'd only use it for gems and such. Again, if a user uses it to make evil traps, it's their fault, not the fault of the feature. You said that yourself

A crate/tile only good for hard traps isn't a good crate/tile.

Yeah, I know. I'm saying that the feature itself is annoying. And it has little versatility: if its greatest function is being an option with which to hide gems then I don't think we need it.

Maybe my opinion on this will change once the actual game is released and we consider introducing some new tiles, but I'm rejecting it until then.

No, a neutral goes in favor of the minority part, if there is one.

This could only work if it's sort-of like an invisible coin block (only, since this is like HATPC, you can hit it from any side to make it appear). Wait, invisible coin blocks? Working? I don't think so. Go play Kaizo Mario, get frustrated, and then help me REJECT this.

But you know what, I don't really care. Since there'll never be a game in existence that may or may not include this feature, it doesn't really matter one way or the other.

Some days I just want to sit down and start making this game in Java, but I wouldn't have a clue where to start... Double-buffering? How do you do that?

My choice is NEUTRAL. The big APPROVE I did before...I didn't really know just typing APPROVE or REJECT or NEUTRAL in great big cap fonts made 'em.

My Cavemaker was coded in java, and it's not online, so that's not to be assumed. I could probably make both online and off-line versions without too much trouble... But yeah, if I were to make a game, it'd likely be primarily in applet (online game) form.

guys, this could be used in many variations, not only evil traps and gems. forexample, you can force a player to crawl instead of walk; you can use it to lower your jump; you can use it to delay your jump; and much more. just need to think about it. i super APPROVE this. so let's make it clear -  APPROVE, or APPROVEd, or I APPROVE. do you understand why you should APPROVE this? good. now APPROVE

p.s,
have I made myself clear?
