we'll need just one topic for this. since one team will judge the whole IO, it'll be much more orderly if we all focus on each category individually. it'll get out of hand if we start a ton of topics and judge them all at once.

so if we're going to release all the results at once, then there's really no need to assign anyone as an official judge in the judges page. We'll just edit the first post to have the rankings of judged rounds, and then when we're done (and after we do the "overall" prizes), I can just publish the results all at once. | | Livio |

Which means that Jebby's vote doesn't matter, seeing as even if he voted for ?? 4 to win, it would still be 3-1 favoring Quirvy. Next one! | | jellsprout |

I think the quality of cave walkthroughs is quite a subjective matter - some people like watching really long videos of complex puzzle caves while others like myself like fast paced speed cave walkthroughs. This is why I'm going to have a natural bias towards my own walkthrough when judging the bottom three caves. I think quirvy's umbra WT is going to go last on my list - it's a pretty tedious thing that I had to force myself to watch. I'm enjoying krotomo's vid though - it's got a good flow to it. | | Livio |

For me, it's a tough competition between RoDB and Snowflake. Both are high quality walkthroughs of high quality caves. Umbra - UGH, that music was HORRIBLE. Endless Evergreens was nice, but more than two minutes longer than needed, and felt a bit slow. 1984 - Holy crab that is fast. Not very pleasant.
I think that Snowflake takes the cake here. It has no apparent flaws (except for a few missed jumps here and there, but those were corner jumps so it's totally acceptable for me) and is a solid walkthrough. RoDB however, due to the nature of the cave, feels very slow to watch. And as Quirvy once said (or at least he said something in the lines of this), it doesn't matter if you make a perfect walkthrough of a bad cave, a decent walkthrough of a good cave is still a better walkthrough. Take note here that RoDB is absolutely not a bad cave, but in comparison to Snowflake, I think it is inferior. Also, negative marks because of the fact that I have to watch a video with different music than you. So, summary: Snowflake>RoDB, but by a very small amount.
Now, Umbra VS. Endless VS. 1984.
Umbra - The music is AWFUL. It sounds like a low-HQ recording. The cave itself isn't very enjoyable either and quite boring, in fact.
Endless Evergreens...Well, except for the fact that the video is longer than needed, it is quite decent. I like it, the music is OK and the recording is good too. One thing bugs me though, and it is that the playback frame rate (or whatever it is called) is low. It feels like he is playing HatPC slower than usual.
1984 was in fact way too fast to be enjoyable, but the walkthrough served its purpose OK. It shouldn't have been played at 2x the speed though, that made it hard to focus on everything that was happening. Music wasn't what I would consider my first choice, but it synched very well along with the video.
All in all -
1. Snowflake
2. RoDB
3. Endless Evergreens
4. 1984
5. Umbra | | Livio |

I would agree with Isa, if I wasn't so undecided on his 1 & 2 and 3 & 4... I'll re-watch them really quick and then make my decision.
but first I'm making a new news category for when new games are added.... | | jebby |

1. Snowflake of Doom (5 points?)
Although RODB depicts a better cave, this was the most accomplished video. The fact that it was beaten in one shot and the good choice of music just about wins it for me. It also has a better flow and a little less stop-start than RODB.
2. Realm of Dying Brain (4 points?)
It's still a masterpiece, this. Some of the moves that are pulled off here are awe-inspiring. A little too lengthy to beat the more concise Snowflake.
3. 1984 (3 points?)
Yeah, I'm probably biased about this one, but I think it's more entertaining than Evergreen. I don't think it's too fast not to show how the cave is played, but I suppose that's because I made it and I know what to expect. The music fits well too even if it was a fluke of choice.
4. Endless Evergreens (2 points?)
This vid had a really nice flow to it and, despite the cave not being incredibly memorable or amazing, kroto shows off the cave very well here. Great choice of music too.
5. Umbra (1 point?)
Easily the worst of the five - boring at times. Poor choice of music.
BTW, I guess we're awarding points, right? | | Livio |

1. Snowflake
2. RoDB
3. Endless Evergreens
4. 1984
5. Umbra
my pick, and for mostly the same reasons as already stated. I actually like the Umbra Walkthrough, though but it got boring at the end. | | jellsprout |

Snowflake of Doom: It could just be the music, but I found this pretty boring to watch. The quality of the video itself is very good and I liked how the credits were done. But the music was just boring.
Umbra: This cave is mainly secret areas, so half the time you don't even see what is going on. There weren't any mindblowing gameplay parts either, which all the other videos did have. Finally, I didn't really found the music to be fitting. Not a good video.
Realm of Dying Brean: Epic. I never realised just how well this cave was designed. There is an amazing trick or stunt performed every few seconds. The video itself is choppy and the music wasn't fitting at all. I would've used something heavier with a name like that. But the gameplay is among the best I've ever seen.
Endless Evergreens: Pretty much avarage in every aspect. The gameplay was good in some places, but pretty ordinary in most. The cave isn't that special. Even the music is just generic run-off-the-mill music.
1984: I didn't find the speed bothering at all. I could follow it perfectly at all times. I also found the music to be a funny addition. The gameplay itself is slightly above avarage, but the editing makes it pretty good.
This would make my rankings a tad more different from your's, but this is in what order I found them to be best. Just note that the difference between 1984 and Snowflake is very small:
1. Realm of Dying Brain
2. 1984
3. Snowflake of Doom
4. Endless Evergreens
5. Umbra
