The new Glitch Mob album is REALLY disappointing.

I kind of agree, the first album was clearly superior. | | Bmwsu |

I forgot that that was coming out. I need to listen to it, though I'm sure I'll be expecting failure now, lol.

Not to insult the genre as a whole, but I thought of it as a typical to below average dubstep album as opposed to Drink The Sea which is more clearly IDM/Glitch with hints of dubstep. IMO, it lost all the varied ethereal soundscapes combined with killer beats that made the first album so great to me. Love Death Immortality just feels like one long 50 minute track played at the same volume the entire time.

I enjoy edm as much as the next guy, but I honestly can't tell the difference between all of the obscure subgenres (Drumstep? Wtf is that). Can anyone help me out and like give me a rundown on the subgenres?

In this situation I'd say Wikipedia is your best friend. To me, all the step, core, ambient, trance, and beat subgenres are all fall under Electronica/Techno (makes labeling things in iTunes much easier), and any distinction they have from the genre that originated their suffix is probably marginal. There's too much overlap; to me, dubstep=brostep=future garage and digital hardcore=speedcore=breakcore, but diehard fans of the subgenres will tell you otherwise. Sure I think speedcore is awesome, but I know it's nothing more than fast hardcore techno.
At least on Wikipedia you can tell most of the subgenre pages were written by fans of the subgenres, so they will go out of their way to tell you what makes it special/its defining characteristics.

Here's some "chillcore" for you, apparently - regardless of what it is, it's my current favorite album:

Especially great tracks:

They should make a 10-hour version of that.

I've listened to I Can See It (But I Can't Feel It) by My Bloody Valentine 1-2 times a day for the past week. It's weird cuz I've had the song and listened to it as often as I do with all my other music, but something about it just clicked and now it's everyday.
The OST was a frequent go to for essay music last semester. My favorite song was this one where they're just screaming the show's title over and over. I like the composer's work; he did the music for Soul Eater and a few other shows I like a lot. I love it when he collaborates with the rapper Lotus Juice, so good. My favorite song of his is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPZVGpvHdtQ from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.

I dunno. FOIL is superb, Word Crimes is great, the rest felt lackluster. Handy is decent I guess... | | |
