I'm surprised I've never heard this piece before; it's very good. I found it because I was watching some Gustavo Dudamel stuff (he's the most enthusiastic conductor I think I've ever seen) and this was in my feed.

Since yesterday I've been listening to almost nothing but the Imperial March (I found a 10-hour video of it). It's cool music, and it brings out my more militaristic side, which makes me get more work done on my military things on InterServer.
I'm just saying, every album Kanye has either produced or released has been at least an 8/10, say what you want about the guy but he makes amazing music

Went to a concert yesterday where I heard, among other things, Mozart's Overture to The Marriage of Figaro and Mendelssohn's octet (arranged for a symphonic orchestra). It was cool. I especially liked the first movement of the octet.
Now the question is, does Jorster remember when I introduced him to Death Grips? I made some vague comment about them in the chatbox on the day that their 3rd album came out (October 1st 2012), then the following PM exchange occurred.

What type of music is it?

I've got no problem with telling you through PM. The band is Death Grips. They're experimental hip-hop/electronica/noise. I'm warning you though, every song by them that has words contains tons swearing and their 2nd album has an inappropriate drawing for a cover and the one they released for free today has an EXTREMELY inappropriate photo for the cover (there are censored versions of both, but Googling them will return uncensored versions. I like the disclaimer, lol. I'll check them out.

As for music I've been listening to lately, 2016 has been the year of grindcore for me. For the unaware, it's basically a metal subgenre that fuses thrash metal and hardcore punk among other things, and has generally progressed to be one of the more extreme metal genres since its inception. Actually, the 2nd song I used in my Questionable Content walkthrough is a good example. Anyways, I had a cursory appreciation of the genre for a while prior to this year, but 2016 has just been one of those years, and aggressive music is in high demand in my brain. Some of my favorite bands are Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Brutal Truth, and Napalm Death
As for concerts I've been to in 2016, in April I saw Abbath/High On Fire/Skeletonwitch/Tribulation, and Napalm Death/The Melvins/Melt-Banana, and in August I saw Paul McCartney

I listen to EDM of all sorts mostly. My recent favorites have been Lindsey Stirling's new album, everything from last week at Monstercat (plus The 90s from the Friday before, not so much Panic), The Musical Ghost's electro swing remix of the Overwatch victory theme, and The Living Tombstone's remix of Bonetrousle from Undertale.

ive stopped listening to individual tracks and now listen almost exclusively to albums. some great albums ive discovered in the past year or so:
Donuts - J Dilla
Repeater - Fugazi
California - Mr. Bungle
More Songs About Buildings and Food - Talking Heads
and one of my favorite pieces of experimental collage music from the 80s: Helter Stupid - Negativland
Ugh, I've dumped too much time in to RYM lately. It's basically what TvTropes was to me 3 years ago. I don't have an account, but I like to use it as a tool to discover more music. I don't use the community, and most of the reviews tend to reek of self-importance or boil down to "I, this streetwise teenage am going to tell you why this album is not as good as everyone thinks it is", but the score averages are usually reliable and the genre tags are very helpful for discovering similar music (although the community clearly favors music from the 20th century, post-punk, and post-rock).. I've considered tracking and rating my music on there, but I've been tracking and rating anime I watch since 2012, and I definitely think I would currently enjoy the medium more if I never bothered with the tracking/meta data aspect of watching stuff. I love music, and never want to make it feel like a chore

I'm enjoying that flute concerto . I was looking at how sophisticated everyone's music tastes were yesterday on my walk home from university while listening to Selena Gomez...
Upcoming HatPC level: Sanctuary, coming soon to an internet browser near you...
I would be lying if I said I hadn't listened to two Selena Gomez songs recently. I also at one point had a username that I picked because it related to an obscure Selena Gomez lyric. She's the best artist to come out of the slew of Disney Channel actors-turned-artists IMO.
Spoiler:
Songs I've listened to recently:
Zedd - I want You To Know ft. Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez & The Scene - Hit the Lights

Does anyone on here use Bandcamp? For awhile, I only downloaded free music off of there, then eventually I started buying super cheap albums, and now, it's my preferred choice of acquiring digital music legally. When I come across an album I like, I see if my library has a copy or check if it's available thru my library's digital downloads program, and if not, then off to Bandcamp I go.
I was never a fan of the iTunes store, but I put up with it for a long time due to its ubiquity in the digital music industry. But after using Bandcamp for a little over a year, it has some advantages over the iTunes store that blow it out of the water.
1. No sales tax. This might not bother you as much depending on where you live, but Ohio started charging sales tax on iTunes purchases in 2013. It just became a total pain, because before, in theory, a $15 iTunes gift card could yield you 1 album and 1 EP, around 15 songs, or some combination of the two. Not anymore! You're lucky if you can squeeze like 12 songs off of $15 now. On Bandcamp, the price you see is the price you pay. I fear the day my state decides to go after Bandcamp, or worse... Steam
2. Currency conversion done easy. Every isn't converted to your country's currency, unlike iTunes. I've paid for music in Canadian dollars, pounds, Euros, and krona without hassle. And due to exchange rates, sometimes albums work out to be cheaper.
3. Sometimes albums are just plain cheaper. I think iTunes doesn't like to price full length albums for less than $9.99, but everything is artist controlled on Bandcamp and they don't care about pricing. Some labels I follow put out the same albums for $7 on Bandcamp, but $9.99 on iTunes, or similar differences. It might be because iTunes takes a bigger profit cut (I don't know), but it sure is nice. Also maybe I've gotten lucky, but quite a few labels I follow enjoy having 50% off sales 2-3 times a year.
4. Doesn't hate your guts unlike iTunes. If I had a nickel for every time iTunes messed with, disturbed, and or unsettled music I had purchased from the iTunes store, I'd have enough money to not mind the sales tax. Once you download your music off of Bandcamp, you can edit the files however you want, and that's that. No one is going to come along and automatically uncapitalize every word in a song title, or decide the Electronica genre tag should be changed to Electronic. What a novel idea!
So yeah, I love Bandcamp. I still support my local library when I can, and don my eyepatch if necessary, but never has buying digital music been so easy for me. Here's my profile if anyone was curious, I never post anything there, so you're not missing out on the Yaya Experienceâ„¢ or anything.

Bandcamp is my go-to platform for buying music. If it's on there, of course. I used to buy every Monstercat album on there, but then I got Monstercat connect (since it really doesn't cost any more than buying the albums outright). And I got Lindsey Stirling's new album on Pledge Music since she told me to. But usually bandcamp lol.
