sorry, i was in the middle of watching a movie.

anyway, reaction tests are useless, as mafia are smart enough that voting will most likely be a scumtell and your persuading a newbie to vote?

Sorry for absences, it has been really hot lately, strange heatwave. All of my computers are upstairs, heat rises (SCIENCE), it's incredibly hot up here and mega uncomfortable and hard to type for long periods of time. Also, my laptop overheats a lot :/

Onto game stuff. I found this post to be really confusing:

'FlashMarsh' said:
scumlord atvelonis, still no post

unvote , vote: atvelonis

Atvelonis hasn't been online at all, Thomas said he was away until friday, Jorster has asked mymop to be a replacement... what do you expect from voting him? Will voting him provoke him to come online or something? ... not sure if this is scummy or not, but it feels like you've gone back to that annoying behavior that kinda screwed up last game. Please don't continue this.

Addressing Isa now.

'Isa' said:
What has Soccerboy done that's apparently towny enough for him not to earn your vote by now?

I don't think that yimmy, flashmarsh, atvelonis, or I have done anything that particularly makes us "towny". Does this mean we're all scum? I don't really understand what your accusations against me are, other than I'm not towny. Am I missing a post explaining what makes me mafia?

Another note:

Pretty much all my posts prior to this have been fluff (not good). I'm going to work on this, everything that I said was in the rvs, so now I'm actually going to post more often.

'Isa' said:
What if you're helped by scum? Are you driven entirely by survival instincts, rather than lynching scum?

Just a note to yimmy: follow this. Also, for the most part, if you need help with something basic, anyone online that can help will answer you.

Sorry for not putting my vote to good use, I don't really vote that often. I don't feel that I should vote just to be using it.

hmmm... didn't see thomas' ninja for some reason. I was writing that post, and my computer overheated twice, then went to my grandparents' house in the middle of it.

Most of my posts will be around this time or 2 pm ig time. I'll also be trying to post from other computers to avoid overheating

This entire 'reasoning' to vote Quirvy and Soccerboy is terrible. You cannot justify being an experienced played, yet calling two players out as scum, and not only that, but pressuring a new player into voting for someone with absolutely no reasoning, and trying to justify the vote with. As soccerboy basically said, we're not voting him because we don't find him very scummy. Why might we find him scummy? Nobody has given any reasoning when accusing him at all.

Thanks, I am aware, you could almost call this intentional. Do you think I made any effort to make you vote them beyond just throwing out their names and saying some meaningless phrases?

'FlashMarsh' said:

Consider the fact that I was intentionally vague and wanted to make you try your luck at actual scumhunting. Upon my arrival, this was a dead game, with random votes, no information and nothing that really resembled any real try at starting up an active phase. Look what my entrance has caused - we now actually have a working discussion. I'm satisfied that we now have some serious votes out with reasons attached, and I honestly do not mind if some of them are on me at this point.

Here's my initial reasons for voting Soccerboy.

As Soccerboy accurately addressed in his latest post, he has mostly been posting fluff. Check this post as an example:
Spoiler:

Across the first three pages before I had posted, Yimmi was the one that most actively tried to do something (even if he didn't know the best ways of doing so), so he gets town points for that. While Quirvy was dabbling with flavor again (which I am not too much of a fan of), he also showed actively that he wanted to take discussion somewhere. Thomas didn't thrill me too much with his early play, but it seems like standard Thomas stuff and it's not bad. FlashMarsh actually had a worse start than I thought - not a lot of posts, not a whole lot of content, just standard sarcastic remarks. I suppose that's why I didn't think he stood out - he posted about as much meaningful stuff as Soccerboy, but not as much meaningless.
I added Quirvy to my list of scum because he and Soccerboy had completely ignored each others existence in their posts, and given that both of them stood out due to their high amount of posts, I considered that a bit odd. Guilt by association is weak though and it's not something I put too much emphasis on when I call people scum...but I wanted another name to go with Soccerboy, and Quirvy's was as good as any, to be frank. It was Soccerboy that was my main target all along and I had no intentions of pushing for a Quirvy lynch, but adding another name felt better at the time. In retrospect, it probably didn't matter all that much.

More to come soon.

So the reasons for me being intentionally vague were two. First, to spark some actual discussion and something to talk about. I'd like to believe that this happened successfully, and we now have somewhere to look. Second, to gather reactions from everyone. I was interested in seeing how Soccerboy would react, but even more so in seeing how others would react. In a somewhat interesting case, I got very different reactions this time than the last time I played. Last time, I voted Shavey Dave without any reasoning and instantly, five people voted for him. This time nobody did the same. Quirvy made an analysis of his play, but nobody else seems to have bothered to do any research into his play.

I find it slightly amusing that the moment I voted Soccerboy Yimmy votes me and then says something that to me reads "If I am Mafia I will only defend my scummate and never a townie!". The Chainsaw Defense (attacking your allies attacker) comes to mind. I am not sure if this is a scumtell or not though since my attack was weak to put it mildly, but I'm making a note of it.
Thomas has his tunnel vision going. I vote Soccerboy and all he thinks about is how my Quivry suspicions are formed - he leaves Soccerboy unmentioned. Thomas hadn't stated any reasons besides "Quirvy is not playing like he used to", so this might very well be an attempt to steal my line of thought on Quirvy and use it himself.

Based on the reactions of my voting and pushing, I believe Quirvy to be town, Yimmy to be newbtown, Soccerboy to be more town than previously, Thomas to be null, and FlashMarsh to be null/scum. I am mostly going by process of elimination - I find it easier to townhunt than to scumhunt this game.

I like the way you deliberately target newbies with your scumhunt with no reasoning, presumably because most people who are more experienced would not vote for him. Sort of thing mafia would probably do (then again what would I know I suck at this). I'm going to leave my vote on you simply for that, even though you have sort of provided some reasoning now, though I still think that it is extremely bad because the majority of players at that point were posting fluff. Although you say 'I just felt like adding another name', I feel it was another attempt to get a townie get lynched - Twice to people, twice the success, twice the fun!!!!

I'm not sure what to think about Isa's explanation, other than his little act (or whatever you'd call it) served its purpose to get us out of the RVS. I'd like to think that makes him town, but I can't see Isa as mafia, trying to win the game by prolonging inactivity and RVS.

I'm also not sure I understand why, based on our reactions, you think Flashmarsh is scum. Granted, he has hardly said anything besides "X is scumlord. vote: X", but if you go by reactions, we both reacted similarly (denouncing the way that you were acting), and you seem to think that I'm town. Are you really getting this read based on the way he reacted, or is this just a full analysis of his character? Even so I feel like you really haven't provided much of an explanation.

That said, flashmarsh, care to defend your post that soccerboy quoted?

I'm not too confident either - hence why I put him down as null-scum.

What makes me think you're townier than FlashMarsh, Quirvy, is that you've made an effort to bring this game somewhere during the initial start, you've provided your own thoughts on the players in the game (even if brief) and you take independent positions. FlashMarsh has yet to show me any independent thoughts except some very easily found critique of my play. (It also doesn't help that he doesn't do a whole lot of thinking into why do things - "targeting newbies" when I just went by who had posted the most recently isn't a hard find either.)

FlashMarsh hasn't answered this question yet so he must be scum and unable to generate a response that I'm satisfied with.

In the post after mine, Isa is discouraging my scum hunting efforts. This is not pro-town. Isa came into the thread looking for reactions but apparently I'm not allowed to do the same. But he's Isa so he can do that and I can't, apparently.

Mymop is Atvelonis' brother, btw and he's not interested in being a replacement anymore now so I guess Atvelonis gets a free pass to day 2.

Anyway I've always supported lynching FlashMarsh as long as he plays like this.

I've seen you use that question previously and it's on the same level of scumhunting as shos old way of scumhunting through semantics. It's not indicating that you're Mafia, because you always do it, but it doesn't help.

I actually forgot that I didn't vote Thomas at the time of writing. Both of the wagons are good though - they're my two top suspects, so yeah. I switch to the other one if it gains more support than the other.

I'd like to point out that I do not support an immediate lynch, though - there seems to be some sort of confusion around that topic. We're not voting to lynch right now, we're voting for information and pressure.

So yeah. If anyone not currently voting FlashMarsh or Thomas finds them scummy, vote them please (but avoid a lynch).
