As most of you are well aware, I've been put in charge of handling the weekly updates, amongst other things, in order for Livio to get his lazy butt in gear. You are all probably very used to the wit, sarcasm, and pessimism that Livio often poured into these weekly updates, but now you will have to get used to even more wit, even more sarcasm, and even more pessimism ala imtimi. With that said and done, know that this is my first time, so go easy on me. Jumping right into the week, Livio immediately took advantage of his new freedom to begin planning his level database reform and level directory ideas. What he is planning will improve community organization, but he also wants the opinion of the community before finalizing these changes. Check out his plans and give him some feedback. Also take a glance at Teo_pl's and Jazz's Mario game hacking guides and shos's Gravity Grid mastery blog.

Really awesome levels have been released throughout the week, previously stored and perfected for the immensely competitive Interguild Olypmics 2010! Some of the more notable levels to look at are Reptar Cause and Effect by Dando, GET TO DA CHOPPAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!! by Yaya, Green Grasslands 7 by krotomo, Realization by GF4, Victory Lap by imtimi, Paradoxes by Livio, and Faith by Dekudude. Also be sure to play these other great levels:

[SMW] 3-level hack by Jazz
[Electric Box] Random Stuff by Jazz
[Gravity Grid] Up, Down, Left, and Right? by GF4
[HATPC] Inedible Food by krotomo
[HATPC] Ugly and Underground by krotomo
[HATPC] Digestion by guyguyxtreme
[HATPC] Misty Cove by GF4
[HATPC] Red Line by Teo_pl
[HATPC] SpikyOcean by sinpokman
[Amberial Axis] Made Quickly? Of course not! by Harumbai
[Red Remover] Rain Cloud 3; Triple Threat by canadianstickdeath

If you are returning to the Interguild with interest in the Olympics, you can still join the competitions but not as a part of any of the established teams (see Interguild Olympics page). Show the community that a one man team can be just as productive as any other! On the note of the Olympics, the second week competitions have been released, and the first round of the pentathlon has ended and is currently in judging. We had thirteen total entries for the first round, giving for very interesting end results. A lot of those entries are worthy of first place by their own means, so good luck to the participants!
But don't get high hopes! I've already won! Muahahaha!

Moving on, there has been a lot of progress in the Aeon front. The graphics topic has been getting more and more results--we're now seeing amazing ladders, boulders, crate modifications, fuel cell concepts, background designs, and more. If you ever feel like giving an attempt to contribute to the artwork, be sure to stop by Kittikayana's Aeon spriting tutorial for some useful tips. Also, a lot of character discussion has been going on, and specifics are finally being nailed down and hammered. If you want to rage about how a monkey is better than a hamster, go rant in that thread!

Now, it is time for some good news and bad news. The good news is, Isa is still away until the twentieth. The bad news is, Quirvy is apparently back from his break (hide the children). But don't worry--Livio has saved the day! In preparation for Quirvy's return, Livio implemented some new things in the forums. The first implementation is the function to grab the link to any specific post; now we can report Quirvy's shenanigans to the more responsible administration with ease! The second implementation is the ability to read a post later, basically being the same as marking private messages as unread. Although not the most appropriate use, now we can ignore Quirvy in style by reading his posts later! Welcome back, Quirvy!

That is all for this week! On a last note, remember that Livio is still looking for a programmer to help him run the site. If you're interested at all, either PM him or post about it here. Good luck to all in the new rounds of the Interguild Olympics, and most of all, have fun!

I dunno, even though I appreciate the "Reptar" reference, I believe it ressembles more of a side profile of Frankenstein's face.

COMING SOON: A giant meteor. Please.
Give me +karma. Give me +karma.
