rocket guy, I think you should make the image in your signature even bigger. It's too small to tell what it is.

Jory when your child is born you should make an account for him on the interguild so he can be the only member whose join date is identical to their birthday #priorities

My mighty (actually quite petite) steed was wounded in battle today. I was stopped by flagger directing traffic around some construction. He gave me the go-head, and I turned onto a street that had a bunch of construction vehicles in my lane, so I drove in the oncoming lane at a reduced speed until I got around them. At this point you might think I was hit by an oncoming car, but no-- a mini bulldozer pulled out in front of me and whacked the passenger side of my car with its shovel.
I'm 100% okay, my car not so much. It's got dents, missing chunks, a missing headlight, a cracked windshield, some exposed wiring, and some sort of leak from the underbody. Despite all that, I've been told it still might be repairable? Thankfully basically everyone I had to talk to throughout the ordeal told me it wasn't my fault, which turned out to be true when the construction company's insurance told me they were not challenging liability for the accident.
This was basically me in the immediate aftermath of getting hit

Whoa I missed a lot of good posts in this thread from April. Glad to finally catch up.
Everyone was posting updates on what they've been up to. Some might remember that I was working at Microsoft, but for the last two years I've been freelancing as a games programmer. It's been really neat, I get to work on a lot of random contracts that somehow involved Unity game engine, so stuff like VR startups, educational apps, indie games, etc. None of the titles I've worked on so far are very noteworthy though, but feels like I'm building up a lot of experience in a short amount of time. During the month of July I'll be helping teach two classes of high school-age students, teaching them how to make games.
I've also been doing a ton of volunteering. I run the entire student program for the International Game Developers Association, and this week I released a new site that I've been working on this month: http://students.igda.org
And I've been doing a lot of political activism to. Mainly working with police brutality groups on stuff like WA I-940, King County Inquest Reform, and doing a few other small tasks for Seattle new Black Lives Matter chapter. Tomorrow there's a huge protest at the local Federal Detention Center protesting the administration's family separation policy.
Also remember how there were a ton of interguild bugs this month? It's because I finally migrated interguild off of my dad's server and it's now hosted somewhere that I have more control over. The site's been getting hit by what appears to be a lot of bot traffic, which kinda results in DDoS forcing us to reach our cap of mysql connections. The main solution is to restart the server. I'm sure part of the problem is the horribly inefficient SQL queries I wrote when I built this site in high school, but that's too much stuff to fix... For now I've just quarantined this site by hosting it on its own box, so that it doesn't take any other sites down with it when it does get stuck.
But with the move came some security improvements, like we're now on PHP 7, and I had to remove over 1,000 deprecated function references from the interguild source code. A lot of bugs from this month were really just a result of that, or mistakes I made during the migration, like forgetting about certain configuration settings, etc.
I also upgraded the minecraft server recently partly because I was already working on interguild stuff, and also because I've been playing on the server to wind down lately. If you look closely at the server map, you'll see that I'm making a little town on the south-east winter region next to one of those rivers. | | shos |

Holy crapness, yaya, this sounds terrifying. My first traffic accident was in fact my fault, and was nearly as dangerous - the hit was from another car (mine) and it was the driver's seat being hit ...but It was rather slow speed. I was thinking about my oncoming Thermodynamics test and drove in red light. PANIC. I feel ya. At least we're whole and fine!

OMG ITS U UR ALIVE
mysql cap - check. multiple times I was trying to access and couldn't, indeed. I can't believe that it took us 12 years to get the domain to be in your control and not dad xD
So, can you still give us some names of games you've worked on? coould be coolz is David in the IGDA too?

Yesterday was my first Fourth of July spent outside the US. Especially ironic considering I'm in the UK right now (Scotland). Instead of seeing some fireworks I attended a Highland Games festival with events like Scottish dancing, pipe bands (bagpipes and percussion), and a caber toss (which was very impressive), among other things. It felt kind of normal because it was a celebration on July 4th, but it was a little bit weird at the same time because it was so clearly not American.
