What host do you have, and why'd you choose a not-so-great one?

I highly doubt people intentionally choose sub-optimal hosts.

What host would you have liked them to have switched to?

GUYS IM AN EXPERT (or mod, same thing)

We need to make educated decisions on server-changing. If you could tell us the advantages with Minecrafted (or any other server that you might prefer), it'd be appreciated.

http://www.multiplaygameservers.com/game-servers/mc-minecraft/
Multiplay all the way, I have some experince with them, for exmaple having a server at them for a month or two.
No lag, They are stable, they got a test ip (85.236.100.245:25565), they are a really well known company, Updates everything fast. Damm cheap currently if you buy 3 months or more

FlashMarsh, really should tell us why we shouldn't, as Wully currently has the best arguments around.

They may have improved since I last heard about them, but I have never heard a single positive thing about their Minecraft servers.

Well, i doubt you would go on and write rampage texts if you are happy with something

The complaint people have is that prices are a bit high, I strongly belive prices are good for a REAL company. Not reseller company (That hiers a VPS from a company and makes servers from it, so they cant do anything if the server is spasing out

I looked at Minecrafted, and the prices that they offer are good, but they offer limited disk space.  We are somewhere right around 5GB of data with all our plugins, server log, and worlds.  So, it looks like we wouldn't be able to do that.

My experiences with the MultiPlay test servers are less than lag-free, and looking at other reviews of their hosting, they aren't the best.

After looking around, I found Fragnet.net, which actually offers a free 10-slot Mumble server like MultiPlay does, and has much better reviews.  They are pricey, at about 10€ for 768MB of RAM,  ($13 exactly, according to Google) but it looks like they have the best features.  I also like how they include McMyAdmin, which is a really good cPanel.
Only problem is that the Interguild doesn't make $13 a month, except on a crazy-good month.

I would help pay for it, but I don't trust myself enough to save any more than $3 a month. That's not a lot, but I commonly am out of money. It seems that I spend it all on chewing gum and apps.

Actually, $3 would be fine. Ideally, I could pay $8 or so a month.

I still maintain this, and it would be great if there was a paypal account I could donate to so I can tell my bank to do payments automatically instead of needing to remember it every month.

Our budget possibilities are suddenly endless.

Hey Sniper, I suppose you meet Livio IRL every once in a while. Could you get him to weigh in?
