This is something I should have made a long time ago. You know, back when I still made caves and it'd actually be useful to me. Anyway, I posted the link a little below, and I'd appreciate it if you all'd download it, play around with it, and tell me what you think. I don't want you guys to mention any potential new features just yet, I just want to know if you can find any bugs, or anything that doesn't function in the way that you would perhaps expect it to.

http://www.interguild.org/hatpc/cavemaker.zip (EDIT: You cannot trust this link to be remotely up-to-date.)
original link:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BNp_r4-qIIZ8QuNE1wRw6Vi9HT526aDL/view

Due to a forum bug, you'll probably have to copy that and paste it into your address bar.

To run that, you'll first have to extract that all into the same folder. If you can't extract zip files, download WinRAR: http://www.win-rar.com/download.html

You'll also need to make sure you have the latest version of Java: http://www.java.com

Inside, there's a file named cavemaker.bat, which you will double-click on the run the program. A cmd window will pop up and hang around with you the whole time as you use the cavemaker. Close it, and you close the cavemaker with it, so, just ignore it for now. If it comes up and then just goes away, then you (probably) have not, either, followed these steps properly, or you do not have the latest version of java on your computer. I'm working on a way to make it stand-alone, but for now this will suffice. Also, you can make a short-cut of the .bat file (right-click create shortcut, probably) and then you can paste that into wherever you'd like to be able to open the cavemaker from. Also note that, since this was coded in java, it should be able to run on systems other than Windows. I haven't seen fungus in a while, but if you see him, direct him here so I can get that straightened out. We might have to jump through a few hoops, but it should be able to run on his mac. Update: The cavemaker program is now in a jar file. You should be able to run it by double clicking but, if not, set java as the default program from opening jar files. The .bat is still there if needed.

If you have Windows 7, check out this short topic for help: http://www.interguild.org/members/forums/topic.php?id=5124

I'm going to attempt to list some of the changes that I've made from the Neopets version. Here's what I could think of, in no particular order:

Spoiler: ''List of Changes from the Neopets Version''

So yeah, try it out, and if there's anything that gets on your nerves, let me know I'll try making changes to it. I'll work on adding new features at an unspecified point in the future. For now, I'd like to ensure that this is working properly and there's nothing about it that people just hate to death.

To run that, you'll first have to extract that all into the same folder.

what does that mean?

It's a zip file. It's like, a file that consists of other files, lol. To be able to use those other files you need to "extract" them from the zip file. To do that, first you'll need to download the file and save it to wherever you plan on putting the cavemaker (it's important that you put it someplace out-of-the-way, because there's a lot of files inside the zip file, and you wouldn't want them all, say, cluttering up your desktop). Once you've done that, navigate to where you just saved it, right-click on that zip file, and finally click "Extract Here".

Then, to run the cavemaker, double-click the file that's called "Cavemaker.bat". If that doesn't work... well... we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

CK: Next time you get that glitch that we were talking about before Hiroshima happened (with the settings now always working), try clicking on the cave's internal frame and then repeating the same steps that caused the glitch before, and see if it still happens. If it does not, then that was the glitch that I fixed, and you will not get this problem in the next update.

Lol, thanks! Have you downloaded since the last time I updated? Make sure you have the most recent version, anyway. And if you encounter any bugs, let me know! Just make sure that it's not one of the two that were reported since the last update (check first page), 'cause those are fixed now.

The problem with uploading to HATPC from within the cavemaker is (and I know this 'cause I've tried) that, if I connect to the internet within java, it's kinda like opening another browser. So, in order to upload a cave from within the cavemaker (which might not even be possible; at least, easily -- might have to write and load an HTML page for you to click "upload" on), you'd have to log-in to Neopets from within my cavemaker. That means, I'd have to require you to type in your username and password -- something that I'm won't (and am probably not allowed to) do. If there's a way to, say, open an upload page in your default browser, then I have no idea what it is. HATPC windows won't work for the similar reasons -- can't (or at least, don't know how to) open your default browser, and any java-based browser I could write would to be able to run javascript and have some way of getting shockwave installed, and there's ABSOLUTELY NO WAY I could EVER know how to do that. I mean, MAYBE somewhere out there, somebody else coded a java browser, but now we're going too far with the joke. So, regretfully, the cavemaker won't be seeing an "upload" button any time soon, though I admit it'd really cool to be able to do that.

Lol, Ok. If you can, say "load from username", then you have the most recent version. I mean, if it was a week ago, then yeah, you probably have the most recent version.

you can open a file with cavemaker right, cant you just build in a button to launch an internet shortcut to the hatpc window and cave upload? like, the file you get when you right-click on your page, and then click copy to destkop.

I have NO IDEA how to launch an external application, and, EVEN IF I DID, I wouldn't know how to find out where on your hard-drive your internet browser is located, AND EVEN THEN, I don't know if I could get it to open a specific page.

So is that a NO?

By the way I'm really grateful for the copy and paste from different levels because I start tonnes I don't finish and loads of good ideas usually get discarded.

for the sake of arguement, csd, if you could open the @Run@ option at the start menu, all you have to do is write "iexplore http://...."; without the "s. but since he said he can't, then guys, understand,

NO.

now i don't remember who was that. fact is it was in school and i mailed myself the link of the download.

now. csd, I tried to make a start menu shortcut for the cavemaker and it doesn't work. it opens the CMD window but closes almost immidiately...just to let you know, perhaps you know how to get this fixed. it's not a problem cuz i simply made the shortcut at the desktop and there it worked, but...

also, in that occasion, i noticed i DO have the old, Neopets version, cavemaker.

It's not getting added. That's it.

It should work. I made one myself, lol. Just, go find where you have cavemaker.bat saved, right-click/create shortcut, and then paste that onto your desktop. I don't know what'd be causing your problem, unless your shortcut's pointing at a cavemaker.bat that's not in the folder with the rest of the files.

no; on the desktop it's fine. on the start menu - there the problem lies.

I applied two small fixes that I posted about earlier, so a new version is up. Of course, those bugs were so minor, it's probably not worth downloading. I've included (the admittedly embarrassing-looking) code this time, in case somebody wants to continue with the project.

I'll upload that RoDB video when I get the chance.
