Anyway, there's really no good reason for why this update is overdue, so to keep it from being one week late, I'm posting it today, on Friday, so that it's only six days late. And of course, there will be no need for an update tomorrow...So much stuff happened in these last two weeks, so I'll just highlight them in list form:
Karma War - This was crazy. The karma war started as I was writing the last weekly update, so I started a live feed of its events at the bottom of the post. There were several historical accounts of the war, including imtimi's blog post and my explanation of the truth. Highlights of the war include: the emergence of KarmaBot and his faction, the first karma nuke which deleted all the ratings made during the karma war, the second wave of attacks which pushed my karma down to -120, the second karma nuke and how that failed disastrously so I had to recalculate everyone's karma based on what their individual posts' karma is, and the return of D52 in order to help with the peace negotiations.
Super Mario Flash Competiton - The SMF comp started two Mondays ago, on the 7th and it ends only two days from now on Sunday, the 20th. There were lots of great entries so far.
Updates around the Site - There were so many new updates that the last weekly update actually got bumped off of the homepage, which never happened before. These updates include the creation of a new Recent Karma Ratings page, the reorganizing of the forums, new email verification for new accounts, and a lost-password system. I've also added chatbox-banning, to ban people from using the chatbox, and karma-locking, to keep a user's karma from being changed. I also fixed a whole in the secrecy of secret forums (it turns out you could see topics in them if you were logged out, assuming you knew the links to those topics), and a few days ago, I drastically improved the efficiency of the staff's IP search page.
Neezles/HB - Neezles was banned for like the last month for excessive spamming. During the karma war, she reappeared under several new accounts (which led us to add email verification). Lately she's been up to a lot of things: spamming, trolling, getting suspended, getting banned, getting chatbox banned, getting karma banned, getting IP banned, earning -200 karma in only two days, going for the record!, finding her way into a topic in the Staff forum which had the password for the Captain Obvious account, commandeering the Captain Obvious account, etc. However, she also got HB (aych bee) back online by finally getting her password back and they posted Aeon artwork. We need her for her great Aeon contributions, so we're just gonna do everything short of perma-banning her. We're thinking of setting up a post-quota for her so that she can only post a certain number of posts each day, but she could get more posts by posting legitimate Aeon contributions.
UPDATE: We just banned neezles now. It was fun while it lasted, and yet so annoying.
Banner Competition - The Banner Competition went okay. Haily's entry was very impressive, and Neezles made like three entries after the comp ended, and somehow managed to get 10th place.
IO 2010 - The Interguild Olympics 2010 starts on July 1st! We came up with interesting ideas in the planning board. One of those ideas is to have teams, which you can already sign up for.
Aeon - I haven't worked on Aeon since May, but there's been progress in the Aeon Music and Graphics 'n stuff threads.
