Haven't heard a lot about the earthquakes.

I can, however, tell Jell all about our subways. Also, Cracked is fun, eh?

That's because there aren't any (at least as far as I know)

It wasn't a particularly big earthquake, but it was a rare one that a lot of people felt

I personally think it's kind of silly they were evacuating buildings, but maybe I'm just in a building that minimized the effects of the quake or something, but it didn't seem nearly big enough to make anything structurally unsound. Perhaps they didn't know it was an earthquake, but it only took me a few seconds to figure it out. I think I heard one thing that said that some people at the pentagon thought they were under attack or something like that, which actually could make sense, I guess.

I've heard stuff about DC and New York, but I haven't heard anything I don't think about what happened in Richmond, which was the closest major city.

Also in other news, we may get hit by a hurricane in the next week or so, but I don't think we actually know whether or not it's going to hit us yet. That would be interesting to get both the earthquake and hurricane experience within a week, though.

Yeah, they said it might reach a category 4. Category 4 hurricanes are usually. And if I was at Chick-Fil-A when the earthquake hit, I would've finished my spicy chicken sandwich before I would worry about any shaking. Chick-Fil-A is the Taj Mahal compared to McDonald's, Wendy's and Burger King.

Yeah, but if it hits us, when it hits us it'll only be like category 1 or 2. Last time we got hit by a hurricane was back when I was in 4th grade, I believe. Hurricane Isabelle reached category 5, but it was only a category 1 hurricane passing over us. I believe that was the only hurricane I've been through.

And the only other earthquake I've felt before (or at least that I remember) was last summer when there was a small earthquake in northern Virginia in the middle of the night. I was sleeping, but did that stop the earthquake from shaking my bed? Nooo...

My dad thinks 64MBs is more than enough for a GPU, even with the fact that most of the videos he watches on LiveLeak and YouTube are at least 64MBs each, most likely.  I beg to differ.  Especially when you only have 1GB of RAM, half of which is used by the OS on boot up, and then the other half is easily used up by the crap-load of stupid stuff that loads on sign in.  But 64MBs is MORE than ENOUGH!

So anyone other than me gonna be hit by Hurricane Irene this weekend? I originally thought it was going to miss us and we were going to just get some rain at worse, but now it looks like it'll come close enough to the Maryland/Delaware coast (if not actually go over it) to affect us. Current projections also have it going right over New York City, too.

Ohio is just supposed to get some rain from it, which is the usual dismal crap that we get, but it'll be a little heavier than the usual. No evacuation routes and green clouds, though.

Hurricane Irene in Canada: Residents Brace for Impact

I wish we had superscript/subscript censors...

But here in Vancouver, we've been hit with a few (non tropical) hurricane-strength storms.

Forgot to mention; the new cat I got is named Karma, lol. It was given to us by some friends, so it's a pure coincidence. Unfortunatly after recovering her last night, I once again have lost Karma.

When Irene hit Montreal, there wasn't a HUGE storm. There was a bit of rain, the wind wasn't too strong, but there were a lot of branches on our lot the day after (I live in an incredibly treed area). It wasn't too bad though.

Mm. My sister (who lives in Montréal now) said that it was nothing too serious. She just said that the train service was still working, so I don't really know exactly how it was.

EDIT: Forgot to say: I have more than one sister. This sister isn't Woodstock.

Another rant in the endless disagreement about my dad's opinions on computers.

He told me the reason he doesn't want me on his laptop is because according to him "Laptops have a limited life, and I don't want mine to be used for playing."  Guess what.  Desktops have limited life, too.  And guess what?  ALL YOU DO IS PLAY ON IT, TOO!  You mostly watch LiveLeak and Youtube videos, and maybe the occasional important thing.  That's nothing more than what I do, before school started.  Now, I actually spend many more hours a day on computer doing productive things than you.  I can't use your computer for school because you don't want me to do necessary things on it, while you don't?

I'm done.

Wait, how does a laptop have a limited life? I think playing a game won't um.. break it.

The battery's life is limited, but that life is pretty long and it can be replaced once it gets too old.
