It depends on how we're gonna do credits. Will it be at the end of the game when you beat everything, or will there be a "Credits" button in the main menu where you could look up the credits whenever you want to. Or we could do both, but at first it's just a list you can scroll through and you only unlock the cinematic credits after beating the game.

And what we need is a main theme for the game, a good melody that people will love, and instantly associate with our game whenever they hear it. We could then make a couple songs around that melody, and for the credits go all out with it.

I didn't really like that song, to be honest. But I guess nothing is "too relaxed" for Aeon since Aeon should have a wide array of music to accompany the several different kinds of levels you will be able to make with it.

Lol, how old is guyguy? Is he a prodigy?

And I liked it H, but then, I made probably some of the worst ones here, lol. "By the light of the moon" was the perfect title. Fits that type of thing perfectly. Like, "WAHNTHAC", and then this music starts playing.

hey that's pretty good, guyguy. Great music for a puzzle level, or one that has simple traps and backtracking and some exploration.

Hey guys, I made another!

http://www.mediafire.com/?zdyywnm01q3

This time, I tried to make something more space-age than the other pieces I made, for which I kind of imagined as music for HatPC. Let me know what you think!

Jazz;
I have mixed feelings on this one. First off, it's not very Aeonesque, so I'm not sure how well it could be used. Also, it's kind of repetitive. However, the piano is really neat, despite the repetitive...ness.

Maybe vary up the piano a small bit (move some of the broken chords up or down a couple intervals here and there to make it feel less repetitive) and perhaps change the instruments up a bit to make it feel more Aeon-like. (change some of the background harmony to synth waves and stuff, and that should do the trick.)

I like this one. Just needs a couple changes.

Lol, I can't change it now because I can't open MIDI files. It was supposed to be a bit slower (about 40 beats per minute) but it's 120 beats per minute right now.

Do you have classical music experience, Jazz? That isn't an insult. Your music just sounds a lot like Mozart and Bach.

That sad, I don't know. Both of your songs are good, but I'm not sure how well they would fit in a game like Aeon. Try stepping out of your comfort zone and just focus on the stage the song could be played on. Imagine yourself on an enemy spaceship in a brand new sci-fi movie. What music would be playing?

Oh, and also, Livio, as much as I would love a theme for Aeon, I don't think it's too important that we actually design one. The best songs would kind of evolve into the main theme. As for credits, if we decide to play music, we can simply mix a few songs.

Ha, and I love how that post has -3 karma. If anything, I'd have karma'd it up.

Yes, actually. But we really need some 8-bit music. Maybe you can score a few?

And classical is what I usually compose. There is always harmonic developments, ostinatos, recapitulation, etc.

8-bit is a great idea, but I don't think I'd be the one to do it. I can definitely try one of these days, but it is likely that I'll simply end up changing the instruments into something else.

EDIT - oh, and also, I don't think your lake song needs to be slowed down. I like the speed. If you just changed some of the background instruments to more modern styles, I think that song would be very usable.

Mmm, you're right. It's up to you. I think a little more focus on the futuristic aspect would be nice for most songs, but looking back, most of my songs don't very well fit into that either. Do what you want.

No. Perhaps check if your scho has Sibelius/Finale? That's where  I made city tune. If you are looking for something cheap (for a music program) try Sibelius Student, which I am getting for my birthday. Yeah, I know £90 isn't cheap. Just the cheapest around.

I use Noteworthy Composer. It's $50... but the trial is free, and works equally well. The only limitation is that you cannot save a file more than 10 times. (hint: yes you can, just copy and paste everything into a new file. ) then I make it sound nice with SynthFont, which is free.

If you have any questions about either of those programs, let me know!
