Hey guys. For the sake of keeping with Aeon's theme, I remixed the three songs I already made. Can you remove all of the others I made from the links above, and put these there? I renamed Fantasia too, 'cause the name was dumb.

Basically, I made all of the songs slightly more techno. Run! and Intruder also mixed and matched melodies at parts, helping keep Aeon's songs.... Aeon's, if that makes sense. Also, the MP3s are all 320 bit, which means they are very high quality. You might want to compress them for the actual game, but this bitrate is awesome, maintaining full quality, which will be good if you decide to make a CD or something. Comments are always appreciated!

that's awesome dekudude.

In Hyperborean, I think the bells or whatever you call it, are too loud compared to the rest of the music. The song opens up with that, so I turned my headphones so that they come out at good volume but then the main part of the music was just a little too low to fully hear at that level, so I had to turn it up, and by the middle/end where it goes back to the beginning, I'm left thinking that the bells/chimes are too loud.

Alright, thanks for the criticism. I made some changes. Is it any better? the melody still seems a little vague, but in my opinion, that would be okay if the song was in the background, rather than being listened to on its own.

I think it would be nice if it was dark, stormy, and fitting for a water, ice, or snow level.

Well, the thing is that we want original music, as we want our own 'feel' to it, a 'interguildian' style of music.

This isn't the most impressive remix ever, Jazz. I wasn't able to edit the MIDI file, 'cause of some weirdness in it, so I had to work with what you made, and couldn't make changes, so some parts feel a little off in this mix. It's okay though, I think. It's higher quality now, and a little more fitting, I think. I couldn't seem to fix the stereo pans, so most of the song is going to come out of your left speaker. Sorry about that.

Hello everyone.  My name is Frank and my friend Dekudude has been telling me about this site and asking me to contribute audio to this game for a good while now.  I've been very busy though, but I just recently graduated from an audio engineering school, and I focus on sound design (more so sound effects) work, but I also enjoy composing as well.

Considering I have a slight break now as I'm just waiting to hear back from possible employers, and I am in need of internship hours to "officially" graduate from my school, I am willing to help towards your cause if I can.   As I said, I can do sound design, from any effects, soundscapes, or voice (though I'm better at recording it then I am actually voice talent)  I also am willing to compose, and seeing that there are already a bunch of submissions for music, I am also willing to mix and master them.  I own a good amount of high quality virtual instruments, sample libraries, and plugins, so I can see what I can do with the music that is already submitted if you want to go that route.

My only gripe with the game as of now in regards to audio is that it seems to be far to early in development yet for music.  Just from my experiences in the industry, and learning about how the game, film, and TV industry works, audio is usually one of the last assets provided to a project.  Usually there is a discrete list of what audio is needed, and constant direction is given by a producer or director. Not to say you cant start early like this, but in turn, if you want me to do any sound design work or composing, I would appreciate a discussion or list on exactly what sound effects or music you need, and also maybe some graphic examples of where the sounds may be used, or at the very least, good written descriptions of it all.  Trust me, it just makes life a lot easier for everyone, and there's no wasted energy from the audio guys.  Trust me, I have been burned by this too many times in the past where I've been asked to do music on games that weren't even in development yet, and I did some music or sound and it never got off the ground....

Anyway, I look forward to helping towards your game if I can.  You can view my work at my personal webpage which includes links to all the audio work I've done including compositions, sound design, and other audio related work.  Let me know what you need.

Thanks

- Frank

Sounds great. This game is completely an amateurish project, so that's why we're not really following a concrete development plan. We're just kinda letting everyone contribute what they can when they can.

As for sound effects, here are some objects we plan to have in the game:
Wooden Crate
Steel Crate
Indestructible Crate

We could use sound effects for when the crates hit and land on a solid floor after falling. I'm not sure if the three crates would have different sounds but it would be nice to.

And except for the indestructible crate, we could use sounds for when the crates are broken. The break animation will probably be very short, and will probably show the crate getting broken into a few fragments and immediately disappearing.

We could also use a splash sound effect for when objects fall into water.

Does the sound change for every object or is it just global

We could save time and just have the same sound effects for each object. But it wouldn't hurt to have different sounds for each. It would certainly enhance the feel for each object.

Also maybe a sound for the playable character hits the crate. I didn't mention the player's sound effects because we don't even know what the animations will be like yet.

We weren't planning on having crates slide, but actually now that I think about it, we may end up doing that, especially with all the options I've been adding to the game recently. If one sound can work for all of them, it may just be best to have just one sound.

hmm, a player hitting the crate in what regard?  Like running/bumping into it?  or physically hitting it with something such as a fist or weapon?  Dekudude told me to check out some other game.  Hannah something as he said its somewhat similiar to what your building.  As far as the other sounds, I will probably be done with them by tomorrow.

just running into it. It's similar to Hannah and the Pirate Caves, and here's a video of a random level so that you can see how it's like:

woah frank, this is some awsome contribution that you are able to do here it'd be great to have some professional touch to our game. Livio pretty much summed up all sounds I can think of, except for one: we have spikes in our game, stalactite and stalagmites; so when these are destroyed somehow, I think a sound similar to breaking glass should be fit.

also uh, I'd like to pre-thank you on behalf of everyone here

we also have boulders:

The sound for when the boulder falls and hits the ground could be the same sound we use when the boulder gets rolled around.
